I love the tear coming from Robaire at the end. It's as if that was the most passionately he has ever sang the song. Nothing to do with the fact that he nearly died moments before.
The second he said that line when I watched the movie I said to myself "Oh so someone is going to play 4town music then lol" Although admittedly I didn't expect 4town themselves to be a part of it I was expecting the CD or the friends to sing.
The fact her friends somehow convinced a bunch of grown adults (yes they're adults) to sing so they could help a giant red panda that almost killed them it's really impressive. Also they have a choreography ready to dance on the top of those broken stuff lol (I loved the movie).
@@Wrzkan Really? My stupid self thought it was a Jinghu, but I guess Erhu makes more sense as a Cantonese instrument (Plus the fact that Erhu is a bit lower pitched)
More than just giving help to their fans, I think it is also a pretty magical moment for 4*Town themselves to witness their song invoking powerful magic right in front of their eyes. Seeing your performance being able to be the cause of that kind of wonder, no wonder Robaire as an artist would also tear up.
I kinda understood it as part of the act :P Robaire is supposed to be like the intelligent sensitive type, he's either learned to act it or he got himself some movie tears before the show. But now I remember that the line from earlier wasn't just "it doesn't matter what you sing", it's "It doesn't matter what you sing, as long as you sing from the heart". So yeah, if he weren't feeling it, it wouldn't work.
As an immigrant east asian kid, Mei and her mom’s total divide on the stuff Mei likes is frighteningly familiar. I grew up thinking it was common sense that you didn’t share what you loved with your parents, cause they wouldn’t care at best or they’d turn it against you and lecture you about it at worst. It was like two different worlds, the world of your parents and the world of your own. Seeing something Mei treasures in ‘her’ world coming around to save her mother, and bring those worlds crashing together into something powerful and beautiful? It chokes me up every time I think about it.
ALSO quick follow up: I might be remembering wrong but Mei's instrument is the flute right? And it's the flute that brings the two melodies together, the style of the chinese chant but the melody notes of the pop song. So THATS cool.
It's very similar a round the world but where I'm from (in India) there's even more divide There's the prayer music that grandparents like, the old Bollywood that parents like, new Bollywood that half our generation listen to, and kpop and pop and hip hop that the other half of our generation like My roomate is the former while I'm the later and when she has a party in the room I can't stand it cuz non of the songs make sense and it's the same for her
As someone who went to a concert at a very young age, that look on Mei's face at 0:23 was the pure, unadulterated pleasure of a fan listening to their favorite song live. Sheer joy, and the uncapability of believing what you are seeing. God, I love this climax
I just love the idea that 4 Town is hiding behind the stage trying to get the wings off each other and hearing all the yelling from Mei’s family. Like “Bros... just like in practice... let’s do this.”
I really do love this scene, both musically but also thematically, that mesh of "singing from the heart" meshing with old and new culture to move forwards together.
Nah but imagine you're 13 and so obsessed with a boyband like they are your whole world and then all of a sudden by chances of life your whole family is a panda and you are a panda and you're trying to save them because your way of living is on the line and your family is singing with all their might to help change your Pandazilla-like mother to go back to normal through an ancient ritual and suddenly in the midst of all this mess your favorite boyband appears to help you out by singing your favorite song, this was both incredibly original and every teenager's dream
That's just strange that I saw the movie and searched for this particular portion of the song that sounds just like heaven when mixed with classic Chinese vocals.. loved it!
0:12-1:09 one of my favorite parts of all time I can't stop rewatching it I am in love with 4*towns part I really like how they care about there fans and I also like how mei friends help her out even Tyler helps mei too one of my favorite scene of all time just in love with it!!!
This really is my favorite part of the movie, I got the chills listening to it, the mix of the chant and the song is so good. The whole scene shows everyone's determination to help Mei's Mom turn back to normal. Also, I like how after everything, everybody doesn't get mad at the Mei's family for all the trouble they've caused, they just want to help them everytime it shows they are going through something or in danger. Everybody in the city are genuinely very nice and forgiving people to them, even those who were mean at first (Yes, I am talking about Tyler)
I can't be the only person who got 21 goosebumps from listening to this. HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS I HAVE EVER LISTENED to imo equal level with Encanto
Those 5 extraordinary boys really saved the day ; can you imagine everyone's reactions to this event? 4*Town FOREVER!!! No other singers can top what they did that night.
Okay let's be real tho as that lead Singer I would have the biggest performance high of my life in that moment hitting that high note and then watching that circle trigger.
I've never met nobody like you Had friends, and I've had buddies, it's true But they don't turn my tummy the way you do I've never met nobody like you You're never not on my mind, oh my, oh my I'm never not by your side, your side, your side I'm never gon' let you cry, oh, cry, don't cry I'll never not be your ride or die, alrighhhht!
I thought it was cool how Robaire had the jade talisman on his microphone, his voice is so great that he could literally open a portal to the spirit world
