Adventure Elliot is a bilingual travel vlogger (English and Spanish) with a particular interest in the Spanish speaking world. I enjoy taking adventures - big or small - and my goal is to show the Spanish speaking world 1 video at a time.
The goal of my channel is simple yet complex: I want to document and share authentic & educational content of anything related to Adventure Travel, Geography, & Language in the Spanish-speaking world. It's kind of a loaded topic, but it allows me to never exhaust my creative outlets. The truth is, I've always been extremely passionate about what I'm doing on my channel, but I never properly documented it when I started adventuring as a younger man in my college years. I've made over 150 RU-vid videos in both English and Spanish, and I have aspirations to make 1000s more. If that sounds interesting to you, join the community and follow me along the way.. After all, we're just getting started.

Oh god xD you made the "noob mistake" of speaking Spanish in Portugal as an English native speaker... that's the best way to get yourself to be badly treated by locals xD "vale", "guapo", "arriba" etc... people will look at you weird and send you off (only Spaniards get a "pass" on that, since its their language, but they still will be answered in English mainly. Unless they try to speak Portuguese, because if they do, we will also try to speak broken Spanish with them as to be respectful for their effort (I remind you that only less then 10% of Portuguese people can speak Spanish, while 56% can speak english and 21% can speak French), but we kind of understand it when spoken slowly). It's better to just speak English and add some Portuguese words for like "obrigado" etc just to be respectful. Furthermore, I really think you went a bit unprepared, not knowing the spots before going xD you just seemed to go around in poor neighbourhoods in the first few minutes, but I kind of get that was the vibe you were looking for. As for "Feijoada", its a typical northern dish in Portuguese, but as settlers from Portugal went to Brazil and Cabo Verde so on so on, they brought the recipes from home and cooked them with the local ingredients. That's why there is always some kind of "feijoada" in former Portuguese colonies ;).

It can happtn but tourists are very safe to walk about at night. Very often a violent crime eill happen as a consequence of a provocation. While i cant say robberies wont happen its very rare. The gentleman in the bar was trying to be nice but unadvertedly gave the idea that crime could be a certainty to happen whfn such is not the case. If you dress modestry xnd dont show off bling, if you act humbly and not shown an attitude you will be alright. Walking about at night in Lisboa is one of life's great pleasures, especially in the summer time when people are having fun hanging out with their pals at the cafés, bars and pubs.

When I need to communicate, I often ask Portuguese speakers if they know Spanish or English because I do not understand or speak Portuguese. Unfortunately, they tell me they don't speak English or Spanish, so I encounter difficulties in daily communication if Portuguese is not spoken. Of course I started my Portuguese lessons but learning this language It's not easy for me.

Hello. In Portugal please keep with speaking english if you dont know our language. Please dont use spanish with us. I know many foreigners use spanish with us because you want to be friendly with us and we appreciate that a lot. But the fact remains we do have our own language and some people might be taken aback or even unwillingly feel insulted to be spoken spanish to. Its due to a very long history of former enemity with Spain who for a long time tried to conquer us and our century old resistance to be absorved by Spain. Today Portugal and Spain are good friends and besties, very much helped by the fall of the borders thanks to our European Union membership. Its wonderful. Still, when in Portugal you can use simple portuguese expressions and when you csnt say it in portuguese you use english with us. Only speak spanish with us ONLY if the only language you know is spanish. Your friendliness spirit is very welcomed and appreciated and i thank you for bringing your happiness with your visit to our small often forgotten country. Thank you.

Definitely not… we don’t speak Spanish. The only foreigners who are tolerated to try and speak with us in Spanish are the Spaniards and even so, we just tolerate them because they very limited when attempting to speak anything else.

I live in Lisbon and speak Spanish fluently as a native language. Although I have learned English, I am not yet fluent or perfect. When I need to communicate, I often ask Portuguese speakers if they know Spanish or English because I do not understand or speak Portuguese. Unfortunately, not everyone speaks English, so I encounter difficulties in daily communication if Portuguese is not spoken.

Please do your homework feijoada is a Portuguese dish from Portugal. We pronounce the J like a J in English. Stop spreading false information. Stop speaking Spanish it is like you didn't even try to learn a little Portuguese since you don't understand what they are telling you.

Lisbon like a local would be not going to Lisbon at all because prices are just insanely high for everything and you will be treated with less respect by staff because you're native

What we don't like is when some people come here and act as if this is part of Spain, you know... I don't feel insulted, most of us don't, but some people are making a "thing" about this...

An insult? Are you stupid or what?🙄As an Spanish/English (100%) speaker: the (2) most spoken languages in the world, that has been to Lisbon and also Spain, Portuguese is NOT even an indispensable language to survive in this world🤷‍♂️That’s why the national music genre of Portugal is FADO, because you are all depressed and live with a chronic inferiority complex😂PENDEJO🤐🤐🤐🤐
