On this adventure I race the storm and find more old coins in one day than I have in a LONG time! Original music by Brad Martin www.GMMD.us / greenmountainmetaldete... / green.mountain.metal.d...
I'll make a knife out of Damascus and use that for some of it. I do blacksmith also. And leather work. You hooked me up with the thread. Thanks for sharing.
@@silvergoldking I don't know how Brad feels about it but I think it would be cool to personalize it for his son, and then Brad can show him the ingot and tell him you're going to make a knife out of it for him and it will be his when Brad decides he is of age for it.
Along with al the great artifacts, I was impressed that two of the coins came from other countries. It is a reminder that almost all of us originally came from somewhere else, but became one great nation. Keep digging, Brad. You create wonderful videos.
Friday a.m. is one of my favorite mornings. Always look forward to your videos. You're knowlegeable and thorough. Enjoy seeing your leather work as well. You have a cute family, and a blessed life. See you again, next Friday, hopefully.
Awesome finds today. Just want to say I've watched all your videos without guilt of my time being wasted. Very educational. You are blessed to live in Vermont where there is so much history.
The highlight of my Friday morning! Cup of coffee, nice smoke and some great viewing. Been enjoying your content for years, all the best from a wet and windy South Wales.
Congrats on your finds especially the silver coin. The metal ornate disc you found would have come off of the door of a wood stove. It would have been attached to a plate with matching holes under it. It would have turned back and forth, opening and closing the holes depending on how much air you wanted the fire to get. (Don't remember what it's called.) Thank you for continuing to share your adventures.
The best day! Like you, I still think about how cool it is to find 1700’s coins in Vermont ! And I actually love the piece of pottery. A very old design.
Thanks for the videos Brad, broke my foot the other day so no metal detecting till at least fall! You and Aquachigger keeping me sane and entertained. Cheers from MA
May I also suggest Metal Detecting 24. He is very relaxing. and Nugget Shooter Journals. I follow some really interesting channels. I hope you are well on your way to a fast recovery.
Brad you find the most awesome things living in one of those first colonial states!!! I live in Missouri, never have I found any coins older than 1875.
Great fun with you today Brad! Loved seeing you find some silver coins! Run on home before you become grounded and broiled! Lol hugs from Kentucky 💞Tere
Great video, Brad! I love how beautiful it is in your 'neck of the woods'. Its absolutely amazing! I'd love to leave California and venture east for some early American detecting. HH GL
Happy Friday!! The ornate piece looks to be something from a stove. I hope you make it back there. It looks as though your in a sweet spot. Thanks again for the info on the pants. They are much more comfortable than jeans. If you can, send some of that rain to us here in Ca. We could sure use it.
Nothing more satisfying than picking up after someone. Whatever they dropped out of their pockets, 150 or more yrs later, is now yours! It's a cool feeling. Cheers from British Columbia 🇨🇦😎👍
Hey Brad, Congrat's on the 4 coins. Absolutely awesome!! You'll need to go back there to spend more time without the threat of rain. Take Care, Jim in Phoenix.
I am just learning from a master blacksmith and would love to use that iron to make him something in appreciation. Probably a decorative oak leaf or something.
The Spanish silver coin is so awesome!!! Way to go Brad! Loved how you had to take a breath for a minute. All all in all even though you're hurrying, You've had some great finds. And I love that orange fungi. Must see Vermont someday.
What a great coin 15:46. Fantastic hunt. Brad you are one great detectorist and film maker. I am a 64yo New Hampshire Native. Started detecting the beach and woods here were I live in Charleston, SC. Your videos Brad take me back in time before I joined the Navy and my friends and I would adventure and camp around old stone walls and home sites in Hillsboro, NH. as a high school teenager in the back woods wilderness. My friends and I back then loved all the back woods history, Finding old loggers camps, old bottles and schards of glass. One of my friends dads helped us boys build a CHEVPONTIFORD four wheel tractor type four wheeler we pieced together from three wrecked cars, a little wood and nails and some welding of things. And brother let me tell you that Chevpontiford would roar to life and us three guys perched up on top of this homemade gasoline monster with big tractor wheels roar off into the back wilderness of south central New Hampshire camping, shooting guns and fishing and occasionally finding very cool old stuff in the woods. Old abandoned cars, Trucks and boats mostly. All was treasure to us, Your videos Brad take me back to that time of my life. The few short years with your buddy's when your still to young for the world but young enough to open your eyes and laugh, Sneak a couple of cold beers out of your dads truck cooler and blast away in your home built off road machine for a couple of days in the woods. Brad your videos remind me so much about that time if my life. thank you.
Great day for you. Thank you for showing treasures from my native state. Loved roaming the mountains when I was younger. Thanks for returning to me these memories. Love the flora and fauna. PS. Knew you were smoking bugs I hate biting insects.
I wold take anything you don't want, I go detecting with my grand kids & we love all Antiques I love to watch you metal detect you find a lot of stuff ! great job !!!!👍
Very nice gesture by Silvergoldking, can't wait to see the finished product. Nice finds yet again Brad, the Half Real and the Geo I coin are great finds! - Dave
Love it!!! Even quickly found items and you still do an awesome job of letting us know what you found! Loving your video as always! Makes my Friday!!! Whatever works to keep those darn skeeters off you! 😊🥰
I hope the owner went and got the round cast iron piece. It would make a gorgeous tall lamp base. Great finds all together too. Pirate treasure is the best to find.
I quit digging in the dirt because of injuries years ago and have just been beach detecting and sifting sand for treasures. After watching a ton of your videos I'm now gearing up to get back in the dirt. The finds you make are mind blowing. Thanks for the great videos and the motivation.
I love all the artifacts and coins you find but I also like seeing all the other pictures of mushrooms..birds..deer.and all other nature shots great videos! Thanks!
I'm going to look into your mosquito repellent. They need to thank you and become a sponsor or send you a goody bag. I'm new to you and your channel. I like your style. I've got a lot of past vids to catch up on. Thank you.
The bug-smoker thing is cool but I like the narrative in my head better where Chris and/or Eddie set a smoke bomb in your backpack to prank you!!! LOL! Nice finds today!
A tip on colonial German and Dutch homesteads. Like a horseshoe over the front door these two groups did another practice to bring good fortune to the home. Away from the house in each cardinal direction they would bury a jar with coins in it to insure good fortune. The Germans, when building their house would also enclose a jar with coins in the wall over the front door. Ever try dowsing a map of the site you want to explore? then again once your on the site...X marks the spot, works for me ^^
I use thermacell and it works EVERY TIME I literally watch mosquitoes fall. The people complaining are people with boy scout personalities expecting it to work in high wind situations. It has worked when I camped in Maine 30 minutes outside oob and it's worked on my patio where a thick pine forest is directly behind me. I really think the people complaining are using it wrong. I've never had more than 1 mosquitoe come around me when that thing was on.
Great finds being that you rushed through it. You definitely need to go back and slow down or use a small coil. Thanks for getting out there to entertain us!! Hope you go back soon.
Always get excited for Spanish silver, congratulations. Once I can get enough bucks together at the same time to get a rig and get into the hobby, that's gonna be at the top of my bucket list. Continued success to you Sir!
As far as bug juice, I’ve always had good luck with “Ole Time Woodsman Fly Dope”. An old time New England product since 1882. Great in the woods but around town you can clear a crowded room in seconds.
I looked with pleasure! Awesome finds today. Just want to say I've watched all your videos without guilt of my time being wasted. And we find relics that are 1000-500 years old.
I also bought a Deus from your link. I put it together, I might have a chance this weekend to try it out. I'll let you know the comparison between it and my Equinox 800.
Nice video Brad. Congrats!!! Let me add here some information about the Spanish coin just if somebody is interested to know more about it,... The Spanish silver coin is a half real from 1761, minted during the reign of Carlos III. Obverse: Crowned shield of castles and lions with the shield of the Bourbons. Legend: CAR · III · D · G · HISP · ET IND · R Abbreviated from Latin: "D [EI] G [RATIA] HISPAN [IARUM] ET IND [IARUM] REX" which means "by the grace of God, King of Spain and the Indies" Reverse: 2 terrestrial globes representing the new and old world between two columns crowned with the PLVS VLTRA legends and also the legend: VTRAQUE VNUM ºM 1761 M The columns represent the Columns of Hercules (Strait of Gilbraltar), each column was girded with a cloth bearing "PLVS VLTRA" (national motto of Spain that means in Latin "beyond"), on the upper edge of the obverse appeared the legend "VTRAQUE VNUM" which in Latin means "both are one" highlighting the unity between the territories of the Spanish Empire in each hemisphere. Earlier in Spanish coins, the legend “Non Plus Ultra” appeared in reference to the limit of Spanish power until the end of the known world. With the conquest of America, that legend was changed to "Plus Ultra", as a confirmation of the overseas dominance of Spain, which then reached beyond the Strait of Gilbraltar. As you said the place of minting is Mexico because appears the symbol (ºM). In addition to Mexico, this coin was also manufactured in Potosí, Lima, Guatemala, Popayán, and Santiago de Chile. Each mint with its symbol to have manufacturing traceability. Traceability also went so far as to specify who was responsible for the quality of the coin, including purity of metal used (silver in this case), its weight (1.68 gr) and its diameter (16 mm) and also the printing quality of the coin. In this case the M means that he was Manuel de León. This coin was gradually replaced, starting in 1771, by the so-called "bust" coin, as it had the image of the monarch on the obverse.
