The chorus has a whole lot of deep meaning, and you actually understood the gist of it. He's basically saying that nocturnal rainbows are all the nefarious things that are done when the sun is down to control the masses, and during the day all these deeds are looked at as rainbows and beautiful, but when no light is shining on it, aka no one's paying attention, these deeds soar in the air so high and are done even more so because everyone is asleep and not paying attention. He then goes on to say it may seem like he's also asleep and not able to see these evil deeds being done like everyone else, but because he is lonely and up at night and has a dark side himself, he can somewhat relate and therefore see why people would do these evil things, even though he is against it. Hence why he says the darkness provides the light for me. Lastly he asks if there's a high power, to show itself, because this world is clearly being controlled by nefarious people in power doing evil things, rather than good people having the masses best interests in mind, like a pure and righteous higher power would. To wrap it up, darkness and night(evil people) have corrupted light and rainbows(good people) and taken control in the shadows and are the true ones pulling the strings while everyone sleeps. Truly one of the deepest songs ever written. I highly suggest if you read this to react to more of his songs from this album because while most of them don't have videos, they are so good both music wise and message wise. The ill minds are great, but his RAW album will lead you to truly understand the true hopsin. There's a lot of good drama and disses as well that are great content, and not as conspiratorial/deep as this song.
I'm so shitty... I've listened to and known this song for 6 years and you actually made me realize that that was the actual meaning of the chorus... I've never thought of it that way... Kudos girl because of you my mind has been blown for something I should've realized years ago lol
To simplify it. Most people find light in the day when the sun is shining. Nocturnal rainbows is an expression for those who find light and beauty when it's dark, after the sun closes.
One of my favorite Hopsin tracks, this is the one that got me into Hopsin... Just popped up on my pandora one day. Nocturnal Rainbows is polysemic - your interpretation was great. A few other ways to look at it - Rainbows cannot occur at night. He wants to stop seeing (hearing) lies.... Rainbows are also a promise that God made to the Earth in the Old Testament of the Bible to never flood the Earth again. So, another translation would be that a “nocturnal rainbow” is a “dark promise”.
A Nocturnal Rainbow happens when it rains at night with a full moon.. the moon isn’t as bright as the sun so it’s rare to see.. the rainbow will also be white or gray.
Man I have enjoyed your reactions so much but now I'm questioning whether to keep watching. Once I saw that Florida sweatshirt it made me sad. Lol! Go Vols!
Your page is about to blow up girl! I just wish he was heard a long time ago! Oddly enough, I first discovered Hopsin while studying for a marketing degree 🤦🏼♀️. WE WILL HEAR YOU HOPSIN!
You kinda got it Megan, you deserve a trophy 🏆. Rainbows are produced only when sun light refracts from water droplets (rain) into all of the colors, it's physics not biology. Moon light have the same properties as the sun light(it's a reflection) but nocturnal rainbows are hard to see, they are so dim. Hopsin use nocturnal rainbow as metaphor to describe how he turns to his dark sight when his making his music, using a tiny fractions of the light, we need (the moon reflection). This is a deep metaphor is hard to cover in the comment section
I'm so happy you are showing hopsin so much love, because he honestly deserves all the love from fans as he can get. Also, for a non hopsin video can you please react to lil dicky's song Jewish flow?
One of the few songs that never got a music video but should have. Also after listening to this song since it released, probably over 100 times, I never looked at that busy with your face in books line as a nod to face book ans well as the literal meaning. Nice catch on that double entendre. I particularly love this song because it shows his deeper astrological undertones. While this is not the only song where he hints it(in fact there's a whole love song about the moon, as well as a song called pillowman, because he's a cancer and the moon rules cancer) it's certainly the deepest.
You found this song fr alot of Hopsin fans Never even heard this and you being a newbe to Hopsin I'm proud of you Megan there you go if u want some old Hopsin I got a song for you (Lucifer effect) I don't know if you already did this one yet I'm new to your videos but this song is 🔥
I commented this in a separate long post but in case it was too long to read I'll repost it. I highly suggest you to react to more of his songs from this album because while most of them don't have videos, they are so good both music wise and message wise. The ill minds are great, but his RAW album will lead you to truly understand the true hopsin. There's also a lot of good drama and diss songs as well that are great content, and not as conspiratorial/deep as this song.
i always took "nocturnal rainbow" as meaning he is the nocturnal rainbow,in a sense him being the light in the darkness. When the darkness comes, his mind lights up with the ideas and wisdom he puts into his songs.
You should react to J.I.D once you get done w some hopsin! All of his lines have hidden meanings and in depth meanings so it’s really cool to see people break down his lyrics although it’s dumb easy to get lost in his flow. Dude is a different breed of artist, but he’s kinda underground like Hop so what he’s saying actually has substance
I'm really digging your content, very thoughtful. I see nocturnal rainbows as an illusion, since they don't occur at night, thus if there's a higher power, show me instead of illusions
Love the reactions, but damn, your a Gator? You in/from the Swamp? Born and raised a Gator so love seeing more on social media. The Matthews Fam on here is also a Gator.
Me thinks it’s more he’s comfortable in the darkness i.e doesn;t need to see the light at the end of the tunnel to get through it. meanwhile others are lost in the darkness and cling to an illusion/ Lies to get them selves through it and not having the curage or ability to see through the obvious lies and forge their own path out of the darkness.
"it may seem so, that i can see but the darkness provides the light for me" means nothing else as: You people think you see everything that's going on but the real things that happen are hidden in the dark like the masses don't pay attention to it. "the darkness provides the light for me" especially says: if you dig deep enough you will find something. "if there's a higher power then show me, instead of nocturnal rainbows" THIS CLEARLY SAYS: you try to tell me there is something (like a god) but you have no evidence. there are no "nocturnal rainbows" but they try to make you believe it. Get it now? they tell him there are rainbows at night but you can't see them. they also tell him there's a god BUT YOU CAN'T SEE HIM! couldn't be more obvious...
Thats the problem with mainstream music true artists like hopsin, tom McDonald, DAX, Sampson will never get any radio exposure because they are too real and make people think 🤔
I normally don't comment, but I just found this channel and saw that you loved ill mind of hopsin 7. You should hear Fear by Tech N9ne its one of his serious songs talking about something real.
I think the "face in books" line is a double entendre. One interpretation is what you said (i.e. Facebook), and the other is more literal -- i.e. you can read all you want about a subject, but without actually practicing/doing it (as he said, "hands on"), you can't really become good. For example, would you rather be operated on by a doctor who has simply read about surgery from textbooks, or someone who has actually done surgeries? Or would you rather have your business be operated by someone who's read all about the theory of business, or someone who's actually ran businesses (succeeded or failed, learned from those failures, etc.)?
