I remember hearing this live when I was at work, it was absolutely comical. DLT with his darts, snooker and great music on the weekend morning shows were really something to look forward to
Back in the days when radio was about entertainment - The Radio One Roadshow, Steve Wright in the afternoon, Our Tune, the talk between the presenters when they handover and the breakfast shows which was an entertainment production. Times has changed but listening to Radio One in the eighties was a pleasure compared to now.
NINE MILLION PEOPLE listened to that show - unreal that the FA Cup Final used to get 21 million & now gets about 4 mil on TV ( yes streaming affects it etc ) but EVERYONE listened to DLT & Simon Bates ( Our Tune )
I remember when this happened, I was absolutely gobsmacked and couldn’t understand why the teams were doing so badly! When the Gotcha was announced I laughed my head off!!
I remember listening to this with my wife in the car and all we could think was how stupid some of these people were. It was so well done live, that we had no clue that it was a setup. One of Noels best Gotcha's
This was a great gotcha and ranks as my all time favourite along with Richard Whiteley's. But DLT's revenge the following week in the last show of the series was even better. Saturday nights haven't been the same since House Party ended. When this show was on form it was peerless.
Remember sitting in the car round the corner from my granny’s house waiting for the quiz to end. It was usually over before we got close to her house. We were very late with tears streaming down out faces when we arrived at her door
I remember driving up the M5 on that morning in my opal manta listening to this on the radio and thinking what a load of thick prat’s but it was great listening.😊😅😂
When Saturday nights were worth watching on TV. Novel's House Party was hugely popular. The gotchas were amazing. They were totally convincing and the victims very rarely were suspicious.
Miss the old DJS. Ain't the same now...loved the radio on in summer hols radio 1, Blackburn, D LT, Noel Edmonds and David Hamilton with his quite cultured smooth voice
Noal Edmond's best gotcha ever! DLT was well intrueley got Lee trevis !Just say Lee Travis's was the star of that ar of night.he never had a clue he never expected Noal Edmond's to walk in and say Lee trevis gotcha! I still laugh my socks off even today when ever I see this clip! Saturday nights are not the same with out shows like this anymore!
you can't compare the old days to now on Radio. Radio One is totally different, all about the young of today and what they listen to. I listened to Radio One as a teenager, and thought it was great, but today's youth might think it was something your Gran would like. However, Tony Blackburn is still as popular as he ever was, which is rare. He has a unique talent which does not age. That is very very unusual now. There was more individuality then, and maybe less ageism. The older presenters were more respected, and now they would be moved aside or go to other radio stations once they are considered no longer young enough to keep up. Music was fantastic then too also more individual, less manufactured. Those were the days.
Geraldine Smith I totally agree with you Geraldine, I remember tuning into Radio one recently, and it was like listening to a completely different Radio station. The music was much better then.
Geraldine Smith When I watched TV or listened to radio as a kid, probably half of the shows I enjoyed were fronted by fairly aged presenters. I strongly believe that it's a myth that young people only want to watch or listen to other young people. In fact, I'd go as far to say that its driving kids away. Radio 1 is in massive decline now that it's wall to wall dopey youth. I can't say as I'm all that in touch with the vibe of the young of today, but I know that when I occasionally hear Radio 1 now, it's alienating a massive section of young people who simply don't fit in to the very narrow margin of stereotyping that the BBC has given exclusivity to.
I remember listening to the programme on that Saturday morning and thinking what a bunch of thiko's and of course the inevitable line THIS MAN DIES ON THE AIIIR!!!!! i really thought something had seriously happened live on air until the whole thing came out after DLT had played a record and sort off calmed down Classic Classic humour .
The HAIRY CORNFLAKE poor DLT he got it well & truly by Noel. I found it absolutely HILARIOUS!!! 😅😂😁😁😂😁👏👏👏👍 PITTY the end was cut a bit too short. Would have liked to hear the last bit about DLT.
I listened to that live when I was a kid. We waited in the car to here the end as it was so funny. We we heard it was a setup, me and my dad pissed are pants
All you get nowadays is celebrity shite and talent shows Miss being young in the 90’s tv was great and it’s all we had no RU-vid and social media So many great programmes Turned 40 and really appreciate the good old days
Before the show started DLT caame on and said Noel thinks he's just going to do a normal show but there will be tonnes of surprises along the way. DLT colluded with the production team and took over the whole show. Noel didn't have a clue what was happening and it was brilliant.
I remember this , stopping for a cuppa while decorating, and it went on and on and on.. I remember thinking no one , just no one could be as thick as these two teams. Absolutely brilliant. 😊
Working on a building site on the Saturday this was aired. Loved daves show on Saturday morning great days . Much better than the lefty children presenting today. Bring back mark and lard
Anne Fallon The correct phrase is PRESUMED innocent until proven guilty. If a person has committed a crime then they are guilty no matter what anyone thinks but in law they are to be presumed innocent until proven guilty.
darts on the radio lol i remember it well the old sunday lunchtime hairy cornflake radio spot on radio 1 right before fluff freeman with pick of the pops "all right, not alf"
He has. Really he has. Saturday Roadshow, this, Telly Addicts.....a real pioneer of tv. He "got" the medium from the off. Gets too bad press in my opinion and was a genuinely good sport when people got him back.
I don't care what people say DLT never did anything it was all about the music and the people around the music I have met this man he is compassionate who cares what people think never in this world would he do what was said the women that made these complaints need to be looked at themselves has a victim of sexual abuse myself I understand but they were only after the money
