In this episode, Microdot founder and creator of all Oasis record sleeve artwork in the 1990s, Brian Cannon speaks to Rich Moores, the current owner of Noel Gallagher's custom one-off Gibson Les Paul Florentine sparkle guitar. The guitar was used extensively on the Be Here Now album and was played live throughout the Be Here Now world tour.
Rich brought the guitar along to Microdot to be photographed by Brian and the results can be seen via the link below.

I saw him play that when Oasis were the musical guest on Saturday Night Live in '97 when they did Don't Go Away. He played it on Late Night with David Letterman too. Awesome guitar.

I remember so well seeing him play that guitar in '97 on the Be Here Now tour. I immediately went out and bought the closest thing I could find, the Epiphone Les Paul Elite. It's black, but it has the f-holes! Still got it, great guitar :-)

Hey Brian, thanks so much for making these videos. I've noticed the 80's and 90's English musician crowd are all very humbled, great people. Very open, great chaps. Had the pleasure of meeting Johnny Marr at a gig in Providence in the US a few years ago. Hope to meet Noel and Liam someday too. Cheers

Amazing story!!! Such love & dedication to an incredible instrument. So glad he got it back :) At the risk of sounding like a dull guitar nerd: the F-holes are not just for weight relief, but to give an electric guitar more acoustic qualities. Hollowing out the body makes it resonate like an acoustic, giving it a softer, more natural tone & sound. I'm sure that thing sounded amazing even unplugged!!! Great video Brian!!! X

Fascinating stuff!! Where would I go to buy a Noel owned guitar?? I'm turning 40 this year and was toying with the idea of treating myself to a birth year guitar, preferably a Gibson. I'm struggling to find any Gibson's from 1982... Anyway I think something owned by Noel himself would mean much more to me!!

oh good call. Idk if a link will work (YT is stupid sometimes) but if you search "noel gallagher tibetan freedom concert" on YT there's a few videos of it. Looks like it happened June 1997, and the sticker isn't on the guitar, so the sticker was added sometime after that! I've loved that show for many years but totally forgot it was this guitar. Personally it always reminds me of their Letterman appearance playing Don't Go Away.

How does a 19 year old bid on a guitar that costs 10k, without having 10k; then walk into the bank, sit down, tell the geezer the story and the bank just hand over 10k just like that. THEN pop round Noels with it and hang out on his steps etc etc etc. There's more to this story I'm sure. God I miss the 90's.

Hi David, Noel still owns all of those guitars, the Wine Red (burgundy) Epiphone riviera, Sheraton sunburst and Union Jack Sheraton, his Union Jack Sheraton is on display in Liverpool at the British Music experience 👍

I have an early eighties wine red epiphone riviera (dont look back in anger) ,exact same spec,colour,era as noels. I got it from macclesfield 6 years ago.id love to know is it the one.does anyone have any info
