at 14 i thought mike was smart - at 28 i know i was right. honestly, hating on nofx is cliche and hipster-douchey without a reason better than "mike dumb and nofx is for childrens" mike writes thoughtful/memorable lyrics set to poppy hardcore style of punk popularized by NOFX. Idiots don't define a genre of punk and become a millionaire writing 4-chord songs that re-hash tired cynical themes for 30+ years. Mike mocks me for it, but I admire his genius and found success by doing what he loves.

Herojuana seems to be about prohibition in general, not just weed. Morphine and other narcotics are made in flowers. Ethanol is produced in nature as well. Weed's safety doesn't imply all natural drugs are safe. All drugs can be abused including weed. The song is asking why it's effortless to get quality booze, but impossible to find uncut coke/heroin. All are potentially addictive/deadly but alcohol is arbitrarily legal and accepted by society and all others called immoral and banned by law.

Mike is pretty clueless abt booze. Alcohol is prob the most harmful drug for your brain and body. I think since he’s only recently ( last decade or two) gotten into drugs, he’s just now hitting that point most teens are at. Like he’s super excited abt drugs, likes to talk abt doing them, where most adults either do them quietly, without bragging, or they’ve stopped altogether.
