Eddie's intro was entertaining as well as informative. This was a good movie. Random thoughts: When's the last time there were clubs with "taxi dancers"? Ruth Roman as a platinum blonde was an eye-opener. Steve Cochran does indeed resemble a young Elvis Presley. The car-carrying truck scene was cool and suspenseful. The scenes with the itinerant California lettuce pickers were interesting: I could be wrong, but I don't think I saw any Latinos among them. Things were sure different back then. And that ending was a surprise... also a bit amusing. Thank you, EM, for finding this one for us!

Steve Cochran held his own in White Heat against the older leading man James Gagney who was 49/50 at the time, while Cochran being almost 18 years his junior. Like Gagney, he too had that menacing vibe/ devil may care attitude plus screen presence. Yes he wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea but enough cinema goers and I gauge significant number of women, like his “brand of tea”

I wrote that line down. It was that memorable. If I had a decent memory! But brilliant writing all the same.

I had never heard of Ruth Roman. Until I was reading about the Andrea Doria. I do follow ships. And then I saw "Ruth". I forgot about ships for a while.

You might check out her leading role in 'Strangers on a Train (1951)'. Marvelous Hitchcock black comedy.

@@NoirFan77 Female beauty is odd. I remember feeling that Sophia Loren was beautiful because everyone said she was beautiful. But deep down I was not impressed. I respected her, but not her beauty. Then once I saw a photo. and almost fell off my chair. Yes, it was Sophia and she was spectacularly beautiful. I feel the same way about Ruth Roman.

@@roderickcampbell2105 Aren't you saying it's your appreciation of female beauty that's odd, if anything is? Or perhaps that you were surprised by your sudden appreciation?

Steve Cochran? hmm. Not my cup of tea, although I really respect Mr Muller's judgment. I've never seen him in a leading role, that I know of. I'm on the fence about watching this one. Very amusing commentary, EM, "Felix Feist was barely a household name in his own home". I was suckered by Eddie's intro/outro into seeing "Bad for Each Other" with C Heston & Lizbeth Scott , or however you spell her strange name.😮 Gotta say, Heston & Scott are both indeed bad...for us, the poor audience, having to witness their lack of acting ability.

Felix Feist was a real talent. This noir is actually quite good!
