Greetings! Former comic book reader here - Supergirl, Teen Titans, Batman, didn't hurt me either. Went on to earn a literature degree. This particular noir and Mr Muller's intro has escaped me up to now. Might have to watch it, if only for that bar scene. But Fritz Lang films always watchable.
I agree that this is an ensemble piece, but I feel like Dana Andrews anchors the plot more than any of the other characters. He probably has the most screen time of anyone else, and his issues are featured more prominently. Even so, this is a fantastic, laid-back film that I've seen so many times it's embarrassing. I think the fact that a lot of the cast drank so much is a funny anecdote. Sometimes watching drunk Dana Andrews can be a little depressing though.
