This is a terrifying story

When I was a child in Massachusetts we had a house with 2 attics, both hidden in the same closet upstairs. One was a hatch in the ceiling, which to my childish memory seemed about 10 feet up, so i never got to see what was in there. The other was through a door in the back of the closet. It had slanted walls and the chimney went through the center and a window overlooking the back yard. I used to sit in there by the window and read scary story collections that I got from the library. Great story!

@@ClassicGhost I needed 1 Eyeball for a Bear and couldn't find one around my town. Online I could get them in a pack of 100 only. I only wanted 1. So I traveled many miles to finally find a Cougar who had the right size, so I rook it home in my Truck. My Grandson is very upset that his Teddy Bear has lost an eye. Now the Cougar Toy has only one Eye, but the Dog doesn't care. He's got a new Toy. How creepy would it be if I give all my Grandkids a bag of Eyeballs. What am I supposed to do with 100 Eyeballs!

A perfect story for the hated dishwashing--I was in your spookie, scary world and when I emerged again the dishes had disappeared and the countertop scrubbed, better than usual. Weird. A fresh drying cloth was hanging on the peg. Think I will listen to this story again. Perhaps the hated hoovering will be magically be done--also under the bookshelves--when I emerge! Thanks for the delightful commentary. When I was about 7 years old I woke up my Dad screaming. The sun was in the closet and was going to come out and burn. Me couldn't convince him otherwise. Remember it vividly today. Ok, Tony. I am going to sit in my chair and listen to your story a second time. The room needs a good vacuum... .

My very earliest memory: I was a literal "babe in arms" and my mum would tuck me into her arm and wander around the house, reading Poe aloud. I especially remember the night she read "Ligeia." Very young children understand, and remember, a lot more than we give them credit for. If my mother had any idea that I understood as much as I did, I'm sure she would have read something more "child-friendly." Very glad it didn't turn out that way. The night she read "Ligeia" was the beginning of my lifelong love of books, ghost and horror fiction especially. I couldn't *wait* to learn to read, which I did at a very early age. I highly recommend reading aloud to very young kids. I won't recommend that it be "Ligeia," as I suspect I'd have commenters up in arms, but I do encourage reading adult material. The mystery of tales not completely understood is part of the magic.

I was absolutely bowled over when I found out you wrote the story yourself! I cannot wait to check out the rest of them, which I have photographed on my phone and kept it ready! You need to visualise yourself, your partner is into spirituality so you will be familiar with this, as a published author, because you have so much talent! You can write novels, films anything! People think it’s luck, but I think it’s positive thinking and self belief! You should be so proud of yourself! I meant to leave this earlier but I completely forgot until I was listening to my own affirmations! And I was thinking that they would do you good and it reminded me to tell you! I absolutely loved the end, when she locked the door! Amazing twist and I never saw it coming, and I always guess the end of tales of the unexpected which I recently discovered! Well done! I hope you don’t think I’m being patronising because I’m genuinely really not and I can say and Brag that I’ve had personal contact with you when you are rich and famous!💎🙏💎 sorry I read the comments and you already have a book, forgive me because I am new to this channel! New and Hooked! I’ve left so many comments I hope you don’t think I’m a pest..... I promise I’ll calm down now, it’s just not that often you find a great RU-vid channel like this!✨

I too often write long commentary. The group of channels; many are listed in Tony’s tab, though a couple of my favorites are missing on his list & you can find them on Jasper Le’Strange’s RU-vid tab; and a few I’ve found that aren’t ghostly (like “NOT YOUR MOTHER’S BEDTIME STORIES” & “SHORT STORY COLLECTION”, all really keep my head above & therefore I’m less likely to fall under & drown. If you look around you might find my commentary, I have seen & noted yours because I often feel a shared experience when listening & delight in the truly FAN-tastic imagination, writing skill, & craft expertise that these channel creators share with us. It is a blessing. So, I just thought I’d shout out as a fellow fan/listener/delighted imaginarian of these exciting historic & modern stories, to say, “Hello. I too agree with the sentiments of your commentary & take GREAT JOY in following several RU-vid Short Story Production Artists. Some like Tony Walker, TRULY have a gift of BOTH the telling & the creating of stories. I feel blessed to be included in this online community. Listening, subscribing, commenting has deeply enriched my life. It feels as if my own life is surrounded by a deep, expanding forrest of other worlds; it is embedded with a network of imagination-fungi. It has a diversity of trees, shrubs, hedges, plants, flowers, mosses, & lichens. The roots of which, witch, & wish have lush, historic succulent creepiness, dandifying details, eloquent experiences, insightful investing/investing (or…maybe not…), uncertain outcomes, galant generosities, gross descriptions, interesting exposures, uncovering of hidden subconscious human/animal motivations, shelling of silky layering over pearls, embedded destinies of ghostly intrusiveness, horrors of houses, homes & honest humans, and so, on and on & on the written words delicately become a child with a life of it’s own. A child that makes it’s home in the forrest that surrounds my spirit & I am lucky to live in such communities. Knowing others are gathering with their audio/video devices, in all kinds of FACTUAL locations on this planet (& elsewhere even maybe…), to listen & entwine their imaginations to other timely, spacious streaming of words that create a mapping of stories that build up worlds of emotional journeys by a collective of brilliant writers; we with passive personal involvement share these threads, all the while creating our own internally developed quilt to cuddle up with on a cool evening with tea & toast. How lucky we all are. Thank you for being a loyal listener & an exuberant commenter- I don’t feel so lonely, knowing we are all connected like a spider’s 🕸. Enjoy your moments. Breathe through your days. Grow with the seasons of your years. Be pleased with the existence of time & motion, as these are ever expanding gifts that we receive the moment we take in the breath of life and begin dying. Oh, the ghostly horror of it all…oh the MAGICAL WONDER…I too am in awe of creationism and believe in the scientific method of A GREAT STORY!! Have a great day Maria Meere. 🐝🍯🐻 Some days I am “bear”ly here, some days I collect pollen from the United Kingdom, but ALL days I buzz around like a worker bee collecting for my internally hived/hearth QUEEN, because we 💛🍯 in our ☕️ of 🫖❣️🕉

Yeah, very good, very spooky! It really does tap into those instinctive human fears of strange sounds in the night, and locked doors...excellent! It did bring back memories of my own childhood oddity, the only even vaguely weird things that I ever experienced... I used to hear a kind of clicking sound in the wall right behind my head as I lay in bed...never could work out what it could possibly be. I was old enough to work through and dismiss various possibilities. I knew I was sleeping back to an outside wall, so there was nothing but bare brick. And I knew it couldn't be beetle, not in brick..?! It came and went..click click click.. with no rhyme or reason, and I was mystified rather than frightened..I'm certain I heard it, but still have no idea what could have caused it.

You don't believe there is a family demon in the attic? Where do you keep yours then?

Meeting again an old , dear friend. Fantastic story and masterful presentation. Love the sound effects. London Horror Stories by Tony Walker is really enriching for your bookshelves, everbody--if you haven't bought it as yet. Highly recommend it. Lots and lots thumbs upFor this story and for the entire book!

Yes, I like the sound effects. I'm slowly slowly working on an audio drama that will have sound effects!

loved this story :) and it reminded me of when i lived in a very old shared house and the girl in the next room kept complaining about scratching in the walls, waking me up in the middle of the night to check for her :) turned out it wasn't a monster, well i don't think so, i presumed it was rats :) you have a new fan :) I like your style Mr walker :)
