Noisy Brakes? We Haven't Heard of THIS Solution Before. 

Today's news shocked the car community. It devastated the Nürburgring community. But what it did to Sabine's family and friends - none of us can even imagine. Due to the latter, we have decided to limit our expressions publicly towards this topic for the time being. The reason I'm mentioning it here now against my will, is to avoid some of you who follow me on this channel only, to think that we are ignoring it completely.

I was fortunate to meet her at a Porsche event - what a lady - so funny and so german. What a devastating loss to the motorsport world. She was amazing.

I did the same thing on my MTB when I switched to 4 piston Magura brakes with 4 individual pads. It really helps, especially the rotor sanding

I learned a trick in back high school , to lightly sand the new pad surfaces, pad sharp edges and slightly bevel the edges , if possible swirl the discs old or new prior to installing and do a bed in process after that , after doing this your brake feels dramatically better just by a few ol skool tricks

Can't wait to be able to travel again. Was meant to be here last year keen to come and have some laps in the taxi!

Tire prices and sizes are something I have followed closely after owning a 335 with runflats (almost $3000 US for a set back in the day, and they didn't last either). My WRX can get a set of P4S for around $750 installed. Was looking at the Model Y for my wife recently, and was so pleased to see the 19" tires for it are super reasonable, less than $900 US for a set installed. When you're young, it's so easy to just ignore the tire maintenance costs when buying something, but I quickly learned that lesson.

Hey, instead of water dillute a bit of dishsoap(dishsoap is a degreaser, don't use WD40) with warmish water and try with that, that way not only the dirt will be cleared but the grease what comes with the dirt as well. Notice how braking performance will improve on an used car that had not this done for at least a year, mindblowing. :D

Never seen that method before, but it obviously works. I always used to chamfer the edges a bit. Sad news about Sabine Schmidt, My thoughts go to here family and loved ones.

I use WD40. My brakes aren't noisy anymore.. maybe cause i crashed the car but it was in complete silence :)

Nice, auto-wet-sanding pads. Both should be flat, both are friction-based, so it makes sense that you can use another pad to sand it. Also, Robert when it comes to speed bumps: take it slow, there's no need to unnecessarily jar the entire suspension when we do thousands of laps. MIsha: FULL SPEED, slight brake, POWA!

I had to use Degreaser on my CCB rotors when I finally figured out wash and wax was leaving a film on my rotors when I would wash my wheels so I don’t use any type of soap now on my wheels. Just pressured water and wipe clean

I do the same with mountain bike break pads, it basically clears off the first layer of pad, making it break in quicker

i don't know about that, but every time i change the brake pads, i always pass a bit with sandpaper and also the disk, even if they are new

When I bought Pagid RS pads from PBS they gave me some Emery cloth to remove the pad deposit from the old compound pads. You could literally feel the difference on the discs.

Oh man, those photographers are beast mode! 1, 2 degrees, snow, rain, wind and they're still out there on their posts, taking photos.

It" s a trick mountainbikers also use after installing new pads on the disc brakes. Just a big squirt of water on the pads, then brake hard. After 5 or 6 times, they are good to go.

What Endless pads are those exactly? Using MX72 on my M4 for track days, seems to do ok although I've only done 10 min sessions on street tyres.

I have seen and indeed done the brake disc cleaning and degreasing the pads followed by rubbing them together before just not on a car

I had to interrupt watching the video. Does Misha explain somewhere why they squeeked so loud? New brake pad material not working great with old brake disc deposit material? Thanks!

I felt the linear view provided a better view on the road ahead actually

1:30 i work at a bike shop and we do that with pads and brake shoes so they don't make noise, although what we do is with sand paper

What Grit of sandpaper was used?

My condolances... But for the brake pads, why don't you put some heat resistant grease on the back side? Between the pad and the piston that is, and also other surfaces where back-plate of the pad is sliding against the caliper-parts.

I tought that the squeling was coming from the front brakes but i was wrong i guess. interisting method to fix your brakes and we can finnaly take the car out with no annoying squeeling sounds.

@ 7:05 where you mentioned 'no drifting through Adenau Forest...I cannot drift anyways...' - did you mean that you can't drift because you are not allowed to drift during TF at the Ring, or did you mean that you cannot drift full stop? (If the latter, appreciate the honest by the way).

2:19: start engine , select 1st Gear, Just hold the Sandpapier to the rotating disc.

Once my old breakpad had Reality deep Lines in it i used a cnc machine to make it even and it worked another 10k km

Hi Misha, I love the channel and content. I was wondering if I were to upload my one and only lap on Nurburgring would you watch it and give me some pointers? I had never been on track and I drive a bmw F31 318d (estate). I doubt I will get a chance to come over this year but next year I really want to come over and have another go! (In a rented track prep car as my clutch nearly died in my car). Thanks in advance

What kind of sandpaper was used for the rotors? Also how'd you get at the inside/back face with the backing plates in place, I thought it was mostly covered. I often end up with horrible squealing from my PFC and Pagid pads on my M2 after track days, I do also swap back and forth with the OEM pads though cause of the noise (squealing but also clunking from lack of anti-rattle shims etc) and cold wear.

I've been wanting to know if you let the cars warm up before going on the track or not? Because I know Apex is very close to the track so the engine doesn't have time to warm up properly.

2 years ago, I replaced the front disks and pads - 1 of them quickly got warped and they squeaked soemtimes. Some time later I had the 2 disks polished and we replaced the "new" pads since they were eating the disk away. Got new, know for being softer, pads - now them brakes squeak even worse..... I can say its worse than the BMW at the start....

What is the reason the wet line is on the outside of the corners? I'd say that that would give you even less room for error, but I'm probably wrong :P

I think rubbing the brake pads together is to remove the old brake pad deposits that stuck to the new pads.

Rather prefer that angle instead of the wide angle for the gopro. Feels more like you're in the car :)

Hey misha, why did Apex go for a M2 rather than the M2 competition?

You can do the same with bike brakes. To bed them in faster.

BMW M Performance BBK are annoyingly noisy with the constant ticking sound at all speeds. No squeal yet though.
