Brilliant - both describing the problem and the dismantling of the dryer. Once got to it, sure enough the bearing had worn excessively, to the point of being a U shape rather than bull circular bearing. I'd add one thing ... once the drum is out, probably getting that new capacitor fitted. I didn't, put all back together to find that drum only rotated when empty, but not wish any weight inside ... weak capacitor. As the video says, it very confined with drum in place - possible, but ended with a few scrapes and bruises. ... for the extra £10, wish I'd done whilst drum was out for the bearing replacement.
Thank you for an excellent video. I'm just glad that my machine is conventionally vented and so doesn't have all the condensing gubbins getting in the way!
Hi @dcbain thanks a lot for your comment. It would be really helpful for me to get my video seen, as I'm no IT expert, to either share the channel or at least post it to your friends. Superb demonstration !!! Repaired and up and running again thank you very much x Saved me alot of money for anyone thinking about replacing there capacitor motor themselves there's nothing to it just follow this demonstration! Cheers again x

Another top video, just stripped down a similar candy and think the belt has stretched causing the tensioner to contact motor shaft. I will see tomorrow when I fetch new belt and put back together.
Hi there, I'm in the process of replacing the bearing. Your video helped me alot. But I have a question. Would it be a good idea to lubricate the bearing with some cooper grease? To prevent further wear...
We bought a Candy condenser tumble dryer and it's made a thunking noise during use since day 1 - and always at the same point of the drums rotation. I've been trying to find an audioclip of what they should normally sound like to compare, but every review skips over this seemingly basic piece of information. It's really annoying, because pretty much every issue with these things (if there is one) can be diagnosed within seconds by the sound alone. This video is probably the most useful one I've found yet - given that you mention it thunking, and show a very useful teardown - but it would have been more useful still if you had included the actual audio of what this fault sounds like. It might be something to consider in future videos.
We’ve just got a Candy condenser installed and we put the first lot of drying in. As soon as we turned it on it’s made a thumping noise, a bit like a loud heart beat. Ker thump, Ker thump. It makes the same noise empty. We will phone Curry’s tomorrow.
Could the squeaking on every rotation be down to the rear bearing ? Or something else or is it best to replace all the serviceable parts together . Thanks

Thanks for that. On my three year old machine the bearing was actually fine but the three pot rivets holding the shaft to the drum were loose and worn. Replaced with M4 screws and nuts and it was good to go.

Hi, thanks for posting the video, it was great and very easy to follow but unfortunately it did not fix the problem with my dryer. My dryer can run for 15 mins, sometimes a 30 or 40 then randomly the drum sticks, there is a lot of resistance in trying to turn the drum by hand when it gets stuck but it turns freely again if you turn it back and forth a bit. It's like it is mechanically stuck so I figured maybe the bearing so I followed the video and replaced the bearing at the back of the drum and decided to replace the two wheels that the drums rest on at the front too, unfortunately it made no difference. Would you have any other suggestions at all? It's a Hoover DX H9A2TCE-80
Hi Damien, please use our contact us page and make sure you fill out the request for what your problem is. I will need the full model number of the identification plate and the details of your problem so that I can provide you with useful literature. A video shoot of the problem would be perfect as well. I will get back to you within 24 hours, normally. www.how-to-repair.com/help/contact-us/ Please remember to subscribe to our channel, as that's what keeps this channel going. Thanks, Paul 👍
Thank you Similar to Candy GO DC 36 Now I can get Access to the Pump... First capaciator Change was done with a cut Out on the Side...worked very Well but doesn't Look Professional :D

Hello, should the pulley wheels move freely? I can't spin mine as well as you did in the video, is this a sign they need replacing? Thank you very much for your video!
Thanks a lot mate👍 Since we work very hard in our warehouse making free video guides, you can always donate us via www.how-to-repair.com/help/buy-paul-a-beer/ Could you also do me a favour and take part in a poll I've made about the lifespan of appliances? You just need to tick one of two boxes. It will only take about 10 seconds. This might help us improve how machines are made in the future😇 Here's the poll question: www.youtube.com/@How-to-repair/community Also sharing will get more people to participate and we will have a greater impact with the manufacturers thank you for helping.
I followed this video trying to diagnose a squeal sound in my DNC D813V-80. Having found nothing obvious wrong, I reassembled only to trip the power on testing. Any idea what I may have done incorrectly to cause this? I did disconnect the motor ansd remove to give everything a thorough cleaning. Thanks
You can either grill or grind, but make sure you do not leave any burd ends as this will snag the clothes. If you have a look at our channel, I have done a pacific video on this. WHY DON'T YOU UPLOAD A VIDEO OF THE FAULT TO RU-vid AND THEN I WOULD BE ABLE TO HAVE A LOOK AT IT FOR YOU, trying to analyse faults when I do not have the machine in front of me is very difficult difficult so upload would make it much easier for me to be able to help
Hi I have a Hoover visiontech infinity sensor condenser 8kg vtc580b When it goes into reverse spin cycle it as a extra load noise would that be this issue??? If so do you have a part number/picture of the part Thanks

(a) It isn't a great hardship. (b) He's probably very aware of the lack of mechanical training of most of his viewers and would rather not risk them overtorquing, snapping heads, stripping threads or cross-threading, which could cause them even longer delays. Doing it manually means their inexperienced fingers will be able to sense the early warning signals that things may not be going right. (c) He may use battery-powered screwdrivers when not filming.

Great video, got me out of a bind. But in what world is that a bearing? These machines are obviously designed to fail! Metal rubbing on metal is not modern engineering at its best, is it folks?

Great Video, but it exposes poor quality components especially the drum bearing which is a manufactures ripp-off trick that the government should halt.. Using a heavy duty bearing would avoid all this work having to be carried out.
I disagree slightly as the machine was built for a price, but if all heavy parts are put in it would not be a cheap machine. the has to be a balance!
