The biggest problem which I experienced is the heating issue. They should've gone with cooling mechanism as like in Nokia 8(copper heat pipe). Rest of the phone is superb.
If the rumors were true, this was to be the actual Nokia 9. Great build quality which sets it apart from other HMD devices easily. Good weight to it. Audio is crisp. But the camera bump is something that they need to work more on as wireless charging becomes a hassle. I have compared the camera to Nokia 8.1 here. 🙏 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mEsmvi0glKU.html

I am using nokia 8 Sirocco since oct 2019. I was so amazed by its design that i could not resist not to buy it. I got a very good deal of 20999 rupees only for brand new piece. Which translates to only 285$. You correctly said, it's a jewelry not just a phone. Despite having flaws i am still very satisfied with nokia 8 Sirocco. When i went to purchase case for it, seller also asked me about this phone and looked it with amaze.
@@RB_1976 i tried gcam when my phone was running on android 9 and it worked fine. But that build of gcam was not working on android 10. So i deleted it. Currently i am using built-in camera app. If you have any idea of stable gcam for android 10 then let me know.
I got my Nokia 8 sirocco just yesterday and the timing of this video couldn't be more perfect. Possibly one of the last compact Android flagships - this phone is a gem.
@@monurajput5608 If you are talking about wired headphone audio, then the sound quality is good but not great with the supplied usb c to 3.5mm adapter. Although it being usb c, you can get better usb c dongles (Like ones from Apple, Shanling, iBasso) to get better audio quality.
@@sanchitvarma1282 yes wired...thank u very much .i like Sirocco for its stainless steel frame and display . i don't think any smartphone design is better than this till now. Apple charges 1000 dollar for a OLED panel and steel frame "iPhone 11 pro" ....but the negative reviews about sirocco from some people are confusing me.
I Have one and it has worked well and ben fast enough for my usage. It has even survived being driven over by a scooter but barley glass broken but still works so now waiting for a 8, 5G.. that I have ordered.
Spot on. My thoughts exactly. I've been using Sirocco for more than 18 months now and I am not planning to change it as long as it works - so at least for the next 2 years to come. It looks like a mysterious black jewel, the performance is good and the size is perfect. Simply outstanding.

Biggest problems it had imo is 1. While it did have curved edges like Samsung's, it was mostly useless as stock Android didn't have the proper features to make use of the (somewhat uncomfortable) curvature. It was just... there. 2. We shouldn't have to use Google Camera just to make above-average shots on a Nokia flagship. They're slowly improving in this field, but it's still nowhere near Lumia-levels 3 years later. And yeah, HMD *doesn't have a clue* about marketing besides milking the Nokia nostalgia, the lack of communication isn't helping them either. All of these is why they've been falling globally the past few years.
Just bought mine for 160€. New (not second hand). I come from a Huawei P Smart pro 2019. I know it's a 2018 device and Nokia doesn't update this anymore, but I love this phone, and Huawei doesn't update my older phone neither... For me, it is a worth without a doubt. I hope it lasts for at least 2 years. Absolutely in love with this phone, it's my favorite one, way more than all Huawei, Xiaomi and iPhones I've had. Salute, my brother and congrats for your channel. Big huge from Spain 🇪🇸❤️
Nokia phones are really well built. But it's just one big mistake they made was delay in switching to android and the market is such that once people lose trust in you it's very difficult to cope up in today's competitive market but i would say keep trying Nokia and you will be market leader again just like old days.
Yeah, they wasted so much time trying to make Windows phone work. Even though Im a fan of the Windows phone interface, people just wanted all the latest apps.
The Nokia screw up! Was made by some high executive chief! At the same time Nokia staff screamed back and shaked their heads hello?? We have meego and linux! And why not jump in the Android wagon? Instead of obsolite symbian, hardware is one thing! But both the best possible hardware and software is the way to go! Like all sensible people would do!

Yes, I checked my Sirocco & my too makes a tickling sound. I guess its a manufacturing defect of stainless steel being sandwiched between front & back glass.
Hands down the best feeling phone I've ever tried! The size and thickness made it felt like a passport of some sort, which is pretty cool IMO. The stainless chassis also feel very good in hand. Vibration motor was tactile and concise, which is rare even on flagship devices (the only android with better motor I think are the Pixels). Camera too, are flawless IMO. SD835 while a year old during its launch, is still pretty capable and I found no issue with performance. If anything, the things I dislike were thermal design. I feel like the phone runs really hot, especially when charging. Too bad people bash the specs for being "good enough" phone instead of full flagship before they even try handling the phone themselves. Without the spec sheet, I'd say this phone feels a lot more expensive than Galaxy S9 and/or Huawei P20 Pro (which people fanboy real bad back then) Thanks for the vid Mr. Nokia! ^^b
You are welcome. Thank you for leaving your insightful comment on your experience with the 8 Sirocco. I also noticed the thermal issue on this phone, but overall really enjoyed using it. More people should look at the overall experience rather than just the specs on paper.
This Nokia Sirocco was a very good phone, what happened, perhaps, Nokia itself did not give as much importance as it should have given it. That happens, usually when a company has too many telephones in its catalog to offer to its public. I have always trusted them as smartphone manufacturers, so much so that in the past I had the Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic, an excellent device and in addition to Symbian, as an OS, it was very friendly and somewhat customizable, that's why my arrival on Android was not so difficult, since it came from an OS with those characteristics. I just hope that Nokia gets very serious about promoting its devices a little more and reach many more countries. IMHO!😉👌🏻📱
Nokia 8 Sirocco and ratio launcher......🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 You just spoke whatever there is in my mind about this phone. I guess every Sirocco user can relate to your video and you must try ratio launcher with this....❤️❤️❤️❤️
If they fuse the 8 and 9 series together, they should just call it the Sirocco line, and have it always have a sapphire display. Now that is some differentiation in hardware for you. If they did that, then they'd have their main headline marketing feature that makes them stand out.
@@AbdullaZaki Also, if they got the sapphire display down, they could license it and sell it to other OEMs so HMD has another income stream besides phones and tacky ideas like sim cards.
I am currently using Sirocco, for almost 3 years and I don't plan replacing it any time soon. Actually, the price was a bit high when it released, but I got it for around 340 euros a bit over half a year when it was released. So, bad marketing on Nokia side is what made me get this phone, as if it was more expensive I probably wouldn't have gotten it :D Sadly, I cracked both front and back glass, but I don't even notice it when using it. Main things bothering me are telephoto camera. I sometimes get better images when I zoom in the main camera *facepalm*. Ultrawide would've been much more useful. Also, after Android 10 update, google API RAW images were disabled, effectively disabling pixel camera that was ported for this phone. Pixel camera made amazing photos, including night and portrait mode. I wrote to Nokia several times to enable RAW, but nothing. Even now, when I look at phones around 350 euros, I can't find a single phone that I can say is better than what I already have, so I will probably continue using it until it breaks...
Ive switched from Sony to Nokia in 2018 and my first decision was the 8 Sirocco, Ive bought the phone as soon as it was available in the stores. Here I'am still using the phone on 2021 and I STILL just take the phone into my hands and enjoy the premium touch and design of the phone. Best phone ever, very curious which never Nokia models will be worthy enough to switch from this beauty.
In 2018, I saw this phone in shop and fell in love with design, Its very beautiful than any phone and in photos . At that time I'm using Nokia Lumia 920 . Nokia 8 Siracoo costs 50k Rupees , at that time I'm little in budget, so using by 4.5 years old Nokia Lumia 920 . After 1 year I bought Nokia 6.1+ , still using it . I really want it New Nokia with same design .
Honestly, I loved using my Nokia 8 Sirocco. But with a buggy Android 10 update and almost no support in fixing the continuing issues, I have stopped using it as a daily driver and now I am back to my old trusted Sony Xperia XZ Premium.
I heard a lot of complaints from the Android 10 update. I personally stopped using the Sirocco before the Android 10 update came out (when I bought the Nokia 9).
Imagine how awesome it would be! IF a bit Bigger Nokia 8850 or 8890 6210 6510 n8 etc! With both fast touchscreen combined with button alternative or not with THE latest chipset! Wow!
This is my dream phone...and I'm using it from one year...still I don't have any issues and falling in love with my phone everyday...and your video about this Nokia 8 Sirocco is very good...thank you
I’m quite sad that I really can’t use this. It’s screen really have heavy jelly effect. Even it was built so gorgeously, I just really can’t bear with it. Moving to Nokia 9, it disappoints me with it’s fingerprint scanner again. I’m really disappointed with new Nokia.
Congrats on the video! My wife has for 1,5 years a Nokia 8 Scirocco and she's very pleased with it! Even without the Google camera apk is still a very good phone! I myself I'm using the Nokia 7 Plus and I'm keeping it! Nokia fans for life!!!
I´ve got one. I would still use it but needs new battery and display glass. Nowadays it´s really hard to find service for it. Also parts are super expensive.
Love the phone, have used it since 2018. Changing it now as alas no more OS updates since a while, and battery is now getting weak and rarely brings me through the day. Biggest plus for me and the reason I've kept it this long is the form factor, 16:9 ratio is optimal for how I use a phone. Biggest minus are the slippery back and the camera bulge. This combo guarantees that the phone will slide off even from a slightest incline. So unfortunately one has to use a case and all this beautiful design suddenly doesn't matter anymore. Which for me is another reason this phone ultimately didn't catch on.
Very well, Abdullah. I have subscribed Your videos are excellent and informative, and, as an American of a certain age, I have no Nokia Fanboy friends to daydream and gush about Nokia with. Also, my dog Winston fancies your fluffy cat.
Oh, I forgot to add . . . I wanted an Nokia 8 Sirocco for the longest time but wasn't able to afford one. I hope if the Nokia 9 Sirocco comes to be, I will be able to call one my own. And this was without any of the fancy marketing you mentioned lacking. Odd, isn't it?
Thanks for subscribing. You are in the right place to discuss Nokia with like minded people :) for us fans, we create our own hype and excitement for Nokia phones, but that doesn't work unfortunately for regular consumers... Noni "my fluffy cat" says hi :)
Nokia 8 sirocco design is awesome, camera setup identical as of Nokia 7 plus but they should have provided a 3.5mm audio jack, high megapixel front camera... otherwise this phone performance feels good on paper...
I loved mine. It was very far from a bad phone indeed. However mine did start to suffer some very slight screen burn. And I would probably have it now as a secondary device now if someone very annoyingly hadn't have liked it more then me. I never got the chance to have it on 10. I know it would have really enhanced it. The only real minor drawback I had with it was that the power key and volume rocker was very thin and Sharp. Definitely the best design yet from HMD. Roll on 9.3.
I agree about the buttons, they were so thin and almost too sharp :) Thank you for sharing your experience though. I too can't wait for the 9.3, or the rumoured 9 sirocco coming after that :)
This series I was looking 2 years a go at Indonesian market, But it’s difficult to found it and the prices still expensive if I found the stock on online market. Btw I’m a Nokia collector... Nokia 8 Sirocco still on my target 🎯🤗
So, Tommorow Nokia Mobile is hosting a launch event . Do you expect that Nokia 9.3 Pureview will get announced?? Next, Will you Cover the Unboxing of Nokia 8.3 5G when it's available, because it starts appearing on European Markets to purchase.
I don't expect the Nokia 9.3, but would love to see it tomorrow. I will do my best to get my hands on the Nokia 8.3 as soon as possible. I have to buy it from Europe so we shall see.
This is my actual phone since it was bought 2 years ago and I'm in love with it. For me, Nokia 8 Sirocco is THE SMARTPHONE 😁 About the materials of the phone: the back side of the phone is not made of crystal, it's plastic. I know it because I had to replace my broken screen last summer by myself and I had to unmount the device and I realized it.
Thanks for the review 😊... When did you bought this? Is the battery backup still good under heavy usage? Bcos a lot complaining about the battery backup on this device
You're welcome :) I bought it when it first came out, I believe around April/May 2018. The battery backup isn't great for more than 1 day. You can get about 4 hours on Screen on time on mixed usage (wifi + cellular) and about 5 on wifi.
Both will focus on offering excellent value for money for their class, and excellent hardware design. I expect something good from the camera of the 9.3
I watch a lot of tech channels Nearly 90% of my feed is tech (the other 10% probably techno) Your channel is different! Oftentimes I get confused with most other channels because I am unsure which guy runs which channel and also what spectrum they cover But you stand out! (Also because I love Nokia) But not just because it’s only about Nokia but because your content is awesome! You could be the next Michael „mrmobile“ fisher!
I had to buy a OnePlus 7T Pro to get a phone looking almost similar to the Sirocco when I replaced it. My Sirocco got cracked in the glass and at the time it was impossible to get a replacement such as the 8.3 5G. I love the brand but has experienced to much trouble during the last four years (2xNokia 8, 1xNokia, 1xNokia 8 Sirocco, 1x Nokia 6.2 Starlord, 1x New Nokia 3310 and 1x banana-Nokia). All went broke or cracked easily :-( But I love the design.
Wow, thats very unfortunate! As much as I hate using a phone case as it completely hides beautiful designs, I think the inconvenience of breaking my phone's screen forces me to use cases :(
@@AbdullaZaki I agree regarding the case. Not so much because of hiding the design, but because it's so difficult to get a screen exchange. At least here in DK where the star of Nokia is declining fastly. This is also due to the lack of service from the ordinary screen exchanging shops.
I wished I bought this amazing phone instead of Nokia 6 2018 but I am still satisfied with Nokia 6 2018. When I saw Nokia 6.1 came up, I realized HMD f up. I wished they keep the solid design instead of following least bezel trends. Hopefully Nokia can bounce back in 2020.
I own this phone and trust me this phone is beautiful looking but it has a tons of display flaws, i have been using this phone from 10 months and have replaced it twice in warrenty
Thanks for the vid! Despite other features whats your top 3 nokias according to their camera functions (if taking pictures mostly, not shooting videos)?
Hello. Firstly, thank you for the information shared with us. You have an interesting point of view for mobile phones review - like your attitude ;). Excellently presented info with proven facts about like vs. dislike. Thank you. Tomorrow will order one ( 2 and a half years after it's launch ) ;). Which is the Google camera app which you have mentioned ? Thanks again and keep doing it like that >>> +1 subscriber. Well done ;)...
Thank you for the kind words :) Before you order, just know that since the android 10 update on the Nokia 8 sirocco, you can no longer use Google camera or Gcam on it due to system restrictions added on android 0. Other than that, the device is quite good with a few minor issues here and there. You are most welcome :)
I have this phone and love it but the screen broke with the slightest drop in the case provided which really peed me off has anyone else had issues with this ? other than that it works great no slow down screen looks great and its not to big
At the moment they don't have any phones in the same category as the Nokia 8 Sirocco unfortunately... What made you pick up the Sirocco? Based on your answer I can try recommending something else.
Good to know you're enjoying it :) Unfortunately the Nokia 8 Sirocco will not be receiving android 11 update. It already received 2 major versions of Android since launch ( Android 9 oreo, Android 10)
Absolutely love this phone. Looking into buying next Nokia phone. Now that you say Sirocco 9 on horizon I'll wait for that. Sirocco 8 is solid phone great looks. To be honest I was considering buying it again. 🤣
I plan on making a video comparison between the 2 when the 3.4 comes out, so stay tuned. Hard to say without testing the 3.4, but im more inclined towards the 5.3.
@@AbdullaZaki Exactly some key features we're missing in that phone like sd 845 OIS 18:9 aspect ratio and also had blue shift bug which led it to flop smartphone
Did you instaled Gcam on sirocco with android 10??? I cant and i think the upgrade of version of android is for the worst... bluetooth problems, wifi... and the camera, Gcam doesnt work
It doesn't after the android 10 update sadly...I haven't used the 8 sirocco since April 2019 as my daily phone, and im sad to hear the last update added a bunch of issues...
@@AbdullaZaki The issues has already been fixed with updates. Mine works perfectly, but I had to do factory reset after Android 10 update because it came with a lot of bugs just at launch.
@@AbdullaZaki Wow man. You are a rich man!!! I have a Nokia 7 Plus and I find it to be the most unnoticed phone yet a very worthy one, even today, after 2 and half year of extensive use.
@@AbdullaZaki I understand. Just joking. I am also an ardent Nokia fan. Not all, but 90% of the phones I have used have been of Nokia. I also owned a Nokia E7. But on the two and half of a month of its purchase, it was stolen from my pocket. I also used to own a Nokia 720 and Nokia 830. 720 had only 512 mb of ram but on that I play asphalt seamlessly. And people praise the smoothness of Apple.
Look i loved my nokia 8 sirocco when i had it but there were things that i didn't like about it either the camera was lack luster it was difficult to hold properly without an actual case which then destroyed the look of the actual phone, android 10 was not the best experience for me either on the 8 sirocco my phone use to constantly restart by itself not sure if that was the phone or a bug but t was annoying to say the least but i stuck with it and had the phone from February 2018 to august of this year when i finally got rid of it and upgraded to the nokia 9 pureview and haven't looked back since
Android 10 added lots of bugs to the 8 Sirocco, which is unfortunate. I haven't had it as a daily driver since around April 2019 when I got the Nokia 9 PureView, so never really got to experience Android 10 daily on the 8 Sirocco.
@@AbdullaZaki Oh man you are lucky it was annoying as hell my phone would literally restart all the time at least 3 times a day which is annoying especially if your halfway through writing an email or replying to a facebook message, that and the camera app was almost broken ie it would go in and out of focus for no reason, overheating issues were also a problem, also refusing to connect to wifi networks the list goes on android 10 was just straight up a bad experience and they never fixed it
Can anybody verify this ? 1)Bottom side of the display when you press a bit harder the glass bends and makes a ticking sound Plese check above type c and speaker area
As someone who’s not big into Nokia phones, I really don’t see what’s so great about the design. When you tried making a point about comparing the Nokia 8 to a Galaxy S6 and making a note that one’s a tuk tuk and ones a Bentley, I’d honestly say the S6 looked like the Bentley.
Have you held an 8 sirocco? The reason I think it's a far harder and more impressive design to implement is the super thin stainless steel edge, which is also chamfered, the glass curvature from both front and back, again a lot harder to implement,, and the perfect symmetry of its design. It's one of those devices you need to see in real life to fully appreciate.
@@AbdullaZaki I haven’t held the phone but that doesn’t change the rear camera placement looking oddly high up and undefined compared to the rest of the phone or the screen and front bezel of the phone looking generic, also why is the curved glass such a stand out feature? Curved screens kinda stopped being cool like 5 years ago. I don’t mean to be so negative about the phone but if something is to be sold on it’s design it needs to look appealing in photos or video. The Nokia 8 just doesn’t do that.
@@nics9840 design is subjective :) but even the camera bump has nice Chrome touches around it, is perfectly symmetrical and suits the rest of the body. The curved glass from both sides is just another example where the sirocco takes things to the extreme Vs the Samsung. A lot harder to implement, just for aesthetics. No matter how good renders or pictures are, it's completely different seeing something in 3D. Have you ever seen a car that look ordinary in pictures but stunning in the flesh?
@@AbdullaZaki Yeah I know got it from a dutch second hand website, was from a guy that bought one. He had software issues, and it took way to long to be fixed so he bought a new OnePlus 8 pro in the mean time and after got a new Razer Phone from Razer. (The one that I bought.) There are more tho, not all brand new but they pop up here once in a while. Second hand stores sell them here for 380,00 but on marketplace you can find them for 200/300
@@AbdullaZaki Except from getting a new version of Android, it's actually pretty great. Performance of the Snapdragon 835 with 8gb of ram is amazing still the Nokia 8 Sirocco is slightly faster. There are ways to get a version of Android 10 on it. I'm not willing to try it yet cuz it can only run the phone with 120hz, and that asks to much energy in my opinion. ( I like to run it at 90hz ) Speakers are really good, but it's not waterproof so keep that in mind. Bluetooth: Works amazing, 8 Sirocco had some noticeable issues with it. Gaming performance is still amazing, but loading times are alright not great.
You know what Nokia Mobile should do more and more advertisement on TV or anywhere for their device. Bcoz I personally saw people that they don't even know Nokia has smartphones. Few months ago I was playing an online game and a guy asked me which device I was using I said "Nokia 6.1+", he said "Nokia has smartphones ?"
