I love this video and keep coming back to it,...for years now. I think I saw it years after it originally posted,...maybe in 2018. I'm in Columbus, Ohio,....no beaches here. But we have an annual community festival, in the summer. Its been going since 1972. I called it a Hippie festival,....and I'm an old hippie. This year 2021, the festival was cancelled because of Covid, and the previous summer one, in 2020, was also cancelled. Its a love fest,....people run around barely clothed,...lots of touching and hugging, sharing jugs of wine,...other things,...It would have been a super spreader event. Anyway,....there are always drum circles, everyone is encouraged to participate. They are SO fun,....positive energy,....people sharing in the vibe. Some of the regulars meet through out the year, weather permitting in one the local parks. I find it a healing experience to listen to, & to join in. When I am stressed out,....I listen & watch this video. At least once a month,...Turn up the volume,...and get into the groove.
A post-Thank you- Craig...this was really an awesome video. I would love to do it again..... but something....different....what do you think?! Haha! I know I know....you always ask me when you are in town! .....I will do it this year when you return though! It was fun to watch this again after a couple years. always makes me realize how much I LOVE to dance. Thank you for taking all the time to make the vids. They are great. Truly.
there's an old guy with a WW2 war veteran hat on playing the drums. it just shows that even a brave war veteran can enjoy some peaceful hippie time its beautiful
I'm surprised people get this dressed up every Saturday. I'm guessing this was summer solstice or a similar occasion. Trying to get our lakeside Ithaca NY drum circle a bit closer to this!
Looks like a good fun. :) One thing: deinterlace the video track next time. ;) Odd and even video lines don't match between frames and it looks bad on fast moving objects @ about 0:19 - 1:07. It's easy to avoid: search for "deinterlace" in your video editing software. Luckily later the video seems to be non-interlaced. Seems like two cameras were used. Cheers!
White people get tribal lol. Only a joke, but some parts of this video are pretty funny.. Actually im really happy to see people enjoying this, getting down with their animal self's.
Hey! I do some shamanic dance with furs and this looks like a lovely, inviting, and welcoming place to wear my fur and dance to the beat of your drums. Would that be welcome here?
I do see the point behind beauty and fitness. I saw no fitness in this video. Only a few I wouldn't kick out of bed. What I did see is people that thought they were a side show maybe in a carnival, I saw people thumping on drums like they were from some tribe in Africa, a bunch of woman that think they are belly dancers out of Morocco. I'll never understand the whole fascination with the hula hoop from adults, however you did make me wonder the origin of the hula hoop. I'll go research that now. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.
Craig Shipp well when you factor in how across afrika even where im from european colonists demonized our music and festivities. Such as...drumming. I can hear many tones from instruments that originated where i am from. Clearly theyre not the ones that did those things but point is the appropriation is very real!!lol Highly and humbly appreciate the veneration though.
