I don't think enough people are talking about how he used the residue from the floor of the van to dirty his clothing to add onto his rundown appearance and fit the part. That was such a good idea that its almost too good.
Actually Nylla Harper use that trick when she did undercover work on their first day riding together using the tires dirtying her clothes. I guess Nolan use a few of Harper own undercover tricks as his own.
One of my favorite scenes. Nolan picks up everything. He was in character with no hesitation. And "That's my old man" like they've been doing this undercover thing together for years.
Like the fact how he dirtied himself with dirt on his shirt before going out there and the way he held himself and his gun like a thug. All of these techniques are vet status
I think the way he dirtied his shirt was like a throw back to the first time he met Nyla. When she took stuff from the wheel of her shop to make her look better.
@@ngflycloud the look on her face tells you everything as you can tell she's trying to think of a comeback but all she's getting is "Well damn, he's got me there."
@@DarkLordDiablos I love it when he does that too her. I love their dynamic now that he's not a Rookie, he can just be her friend, and it's been really cool to see Nolan stand his ground against his superiors a little more now that he's off probation, like stopping Lopez from chucking a guy in a woodchipper.
I know right lol he is gonna end up being the best cop they did him dirty with that reprimand but i think tim or one of the to will get promoted and help him out like put in a good word for him with one of the bosses or someone like captain anderson will notice him if she didn’t die i think she wouldn’t have gave him a reprimand but if she was alive i think him and nyla would have went to her about armstrong
Good save, the way he did it was very smart as when he pulled out his gun and put the driver in a spot that if he tried anything funny he get a 9mm in him
C'mon you do realize that this is a tv show and not real life?!! In reality officer Nolan would have taken two bullets to the chest before he even had a chance to pull his gun from his back waist line. That ok let me wait and give you a chance to pull your gun out so we both can have our guns out and look at each other and look tough is straight up make believe!!
Isiah Warner You can pull your guns out quick enough if trained right, so if Nolan was trained with unholstering his glock quickly, that would mean he would be able to point it at his heart, so it’s not unrealistic no.
Ah yes the criminal is just going to shoot someone in broad daylight in the middle of the street despite just trying to threaten some junkies... i don't know what kind of boohoo ass world you live in guy
Everyone talking about how he made his clothes dirty or held his gun sideways. Im more impressed that he fed Harper a line she could play on/established that his cover knew her. Without him saying Crystal she wouldnt have known how to play off the situation 0:50
Let's not forget people. In the show he had a construction company for years. I would NOT be surprised one bit, if he or his crew did some shit to keep their work environments safe.
I dont think so i mean his whole reason for becoming a cop was the bank robbery he survived and he was scared distracting the robbers so i doubt that hes done stuff like that before. He lived in rural Pennsylvania so its not like much crime happens there anyways
If Nolan held the pistol like a trained police officer, it would look really suspicious to the criminals. He held it like a gangster, which was perfect.
Wonder what that guy was thinking when Nolan held the gun. “Holy shit, this dude is how old and he looks like a gangster? Oh, god. He must know all the secret gang techniques. I gotta get out of here!”
Beware old men in a profession where men generally die young. The look Nolan gave him plus his age, probably told the guy that the person infront of him was old in the gang lifestyle for a reason. It's best to not risk it and let it slide for now.
Ik its not required for criminals but what are the odds of a long time gangbanger not having any tattoos. I mean even just standard criminals usually have one or two
@@callmecalamitylook it it from the pov of a young gangbanger surviving multiple risks on his life in his first few months in the gang. He probably saw it as a omen that getting tattoos that were easily hidden would be a good thing should he survive to mild age. Like how the Yakuza get the body tattoos done but leave enough space on their front to allow them to wear their shirts open without revealing them.
Well, Nolan pointed his gun directly at the center mass of the suspect upon being threatened with a gun by the the suspect. Nolan only needs to pull the trigger if the suspect tries anything, unlike the suspect wherein he still needs to aim then shoot which might take a split second but by that time, Nolan may have already pulled the trigger and hit the suspect with around 2 or 3 bullets.
Nolan improvising shows that he knows how unsuspecting he is to these criminals. What type of criminal would suspect a former career construction worker of being a cop? Nolan probably saw a lot of drug addicts at job sites along with real tough guys. Plus, being an actual parent, Nolan was playing the protective thug father very well.
There is one issue I have that comes more from me not knowing. Do police not recieve standard issued firearms that would be easily recognized as such by a high ranking criminal?
not necessarily, the gun coudl have been stolen, pawned by a corrupt/junkie cop(which happens in an episode as well), or hell bought it from a gun show/arms dealer, or hell even buying it normally(unusual for a junkie)...because cops use it because its both reliable and easy to obtain, many people could have the same model, its the rifling that matters really
He wasn’t just looking at how he was pointing the gun. He was also looking if he had his finger off the trigger because if he did have his finger off the trigger(gun safety 101) then he would’ve came off as a trained person let alone a cop. Or maybe not 👍🏾
@@Niver0 OK. English is not my first language so I might have misunderstood. Is it really something people say? Sounds weird calling your boyfriend the same way some people call their father
@@anthonyjaccard3694 It 'can' mean father in American Slang, but in this context it means"Boyfriend" or "Baby Daddy " aka the father of your illegitimate kid(s). In this context it would be WEIRD for her father to be dragging her from the car, so it makes sense that he is playing a jealous boyfriend. Also the quip by the villain about "old is right" is a direct insult to the fact that she has boyfriend who seems too old to date her ;) LOL
Just the sight of a gun is enough to scare most people off. Also it takes less than 1 sec to cock it and fire if you really need. He also was not expecting Nolan to pull his own piece and call his challenge. Which gave him enough pause to back down.
Old man or old lady are slang terms for a boyfriend or girlfriend, and it can also be used for spouses. Old lady is also use in Motorcycle Clubs for the wife or girlfriend of a patched member. That's what I assume they meant, though it can mean father as well, but considering he reacted to him being "old" it probably was not intended to mean father.
@@matainer I'm really sorry for the late reply. Thank you for responding to my question. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain it to me. Thank you.
There was no platonic chemistry between Nolan and Tallia but with Harper and Nolan there is so much platonic chemistry they are meant to be partners not TO & boot
While it's no secret the reason that Bishop's actress left the show, it wouldn't surprise me if the lack of chemistry between them was also a factor considering how quickly Nolan and Harper clicked. He's the Yin to her Yang with them each learning from each other.
Nathan needs to leave the show urgently. His character in the fifth season becomes more and more boring. While not quite an old man, you can find something more interesting.
