Sola Portal, I agree with everything you've said. I left the UK in 2012 to pursue better opportunities elsewhere, and I am now self-employed, currently working in Zurich, Alhamdulilah. I believe we need to change how we think and also associate more closely with like-minded individuals. Every time I visit London, I feel sick to my stomach and can't wait to leave. Unfortunately, I don't associate with Somalis as they often carry a heavy load of problems. My friends are my books and those who have achieved success in life.
I think you're spot on about many things you've highlighted regarding British Somali community. However, there are few things I disagree with: 1- many practicing Muslims don't want to take on a mortgage with interest so don't access home ownership; 2-for same reason many don't access govt backed finance (with interest) provided to small and medium size businesses; and 3-you're comparing us to other communities that have had a presence in UK far longer than ours. For the rest I agree with 💯.
I get your point but Interms of homeownership however we are very much capable of saving up for our children to have a start in their lives rather than focus in countries that we don’t live in e.g back home sending money etc, integration is very important how are we meant to guide our children to the right path for success when the language is still an issue like he said in this video! In general we can do better and should call out this laziness of the benefits system it’s to entrap us into being under them for years and this is toxic for our children.
@@user-or9ut4zw6v I agree with you regarding removing the language barrier and stopping or reducing benefits to go back to work. Universal Credit is doing that. We should definitely get involved in business ownership, that's key to wealth. Most Somalis earn on average between 20k/40k. UK properties prices will continue to rise. Also, don't forget inflation. Whatever we're gonna save in the next 30yrs won't be enough to help our children own a property. At least not without a mortgage involved. I would rather build or invest in property, land or businesses back home where it's more affordable. I could live in it during my retirement and leave them inheritance. You noticed the UK weather is depressing and society is divided so you never know about the future.

Runta u sheeg dadka somaliyeed kuwa si xun u socda ee kuwa kalena khasaarinaaya.
Walal I agree with u but the reason y somali kids end up in prison because they are fatherless even if he lives with them he’s more interested in other things then mentoring his kids Fathers need to be in his children lives physically rather than letting mothers do everything on their own Also we need to learn the rules & legislation of the country we live in .
The most distressing part of his conversation was when he said if you don't have a home, being overweight, or lacking a stable career, see yourself as worthless.

Damn this guy completely obliterated and exposed the Somalis living in the UK and elsewhere. The sad part is that everything this gentleman said is factually true!
2006 I have seen the same problem in Eastleigh in Kenya, Somalis don't go to school entrepreneurship alone is enough to run and manage life of communities /individuals.
