Nomad 6.5 Does the Extra Length Make a Difference? 

What a pleasant review! When I say pleasant, I mean no loud rock music intro to wake the dead, or at least the neighbors, no jumping around histrionics, sensible tests that show skill and experience, and a narration that is well-spoken. I will check your other reviews.

I’m a big Joker fan. These are quality knives for sure. I own Bark river knives and LT Wright. Lots of moras and others. For the price, these Jokers are hard to beat. My favorites of the Joker line at this point are the Ember Scandi, and Avispa Scandi. Excellent! So comfortable in the hand. Moral of the story here is…Joker knives are no Joke 🤷

Great review, you're a natural! I'm just ordering this. I have been looking at the Falkniven A2 but from what I've seen this looks better value. I've many outdoor knives but needed something 'beefier" for heavier use and to keep in my bugout pack. You have just made my mind up. Best wishes from the UK 👍

Great video. Saw this on Dutch Bushcraft Knives a couple of weeks ago, obviously they're great at doing their thing but I appreciate you and knowing I can come here for a thorough and technical review. I've heard all I need to hear, you've convinced me, I already have a jääkäripuukko 140 which I've reground to a "scandivex" but I'd like to experience a factory convex edge and your observetions on the blade profile, particularly the belly, swayed me. I can see the similarities to a spey blade, but not as blunt tipped as one, and obviously bigger. This will be my first knife I buy over £100! Thanks again for the helpful and informative review.

I use the joker Bushlord and this Nomad as my go kit and for everything really, they cover most of my demands.

6.5 inch and 3/16 are perfect size for a good strong survival knife without sacrificing much slicing ability

G'day Mark, I've been looking forward to this one mate ....... straight up ........ outstanding, ..... the knife and your review/demo of it. I was initially apprehensive about the "snub nose", but having used the 5 incher for some time now; excellent for bow drill divots, pushing down @ 45 deg onto a surface, like food prep for example, and the extra thickness/strength, Senor Sabater knows what he's doing alright !!!. I did manage to overcome the button snap issue with just the slightest of pressure in a vice to tighten them up, but sure stitched is better again, albeit at the expense of foregoing instant belt mounting. And I also note the inclusion of an insert on this sheath ........ it's always pleasing when designers take on constructive feedback to improve even further, ........ as if these knives weren't good enough already, lol. Fair to say I reckon, unless one wants to jump straight into the deep end, the convex aint the best option for the inexperienced, but ever since I pulled the trigger on a Bravo 1.5, man I love 'em, and as you mentioned wet and dry sandpaper is the go, I use it on a perfectly flat polished floor tile, but certainly glass will do just as well. Ergos; magnificent IMO, probably the best I have for my hands, I can understand you finding it too smooth, though like the Buck 119, BKs and a couple of others, the contouring fits so well I dont have a problem. At the time of purchase, I didn't have anything between 4 and 6 in. so the 5 incher fit the bill perfectly, though I do agree, the extra length on this model is totally worthwhile. I shall stop drooling now, Cheers Duke.

That was a very good in-depth review. I was looking at some Joker knives today and I'm going to order one but it's smaller than this. Something for carving and stuff not splitting wood

New to your channel. And I am enjoying your videos. You seem more realistic than many other channels. I always try to carry a smaller Camp knife, around 4 and 1/2 in, and a bigger one. That's what I use for larger wood processing. Like batoning larger pieces of wood.

The Joker Nomad 6.5 Camp Knife and the Joker Erizo make a perfect combination. Here in Germany blade length is limited to 12cm for carrying in the public, unless you have a serious reason (hunting, traditional ceremonies etc.) for this. Most bushcrafters, hikers and campers are off limits to carry the Nomads due their blade lengths. I will get my one in three weeks.😊

Awesome review. I lucked out and found one a couple of months ago. I've been camping with it and using it in my kitchen just doing every day food prep just because I enjoy using it, lol. I think it's the perfect sized knife for me and a treat to use. I hope you do a demo of your sharpening technique. I haven't had to do much edge work on it yet, but it would be nice to see your approach.

As always wonderful reviews and has helped me find more then one new knife, The QSP Bison and Canary for example. I am curious you mention that you also would use an axe at times, and I would love to see your thoughts and recommendations as I am looking for a small axe currently. Please keep the content coming.

When I'm out moving through the brush, whether I'm hunting grouse or rabbits or mushrooms or marking a trail to a deer stand, I like to carry a small knife that can also do some light chopping. The Becker line works well for this (the BK12 being my favorite) but I prefer the width and length of this blade and the nice leather sheath, which makes it easy to carry and not stick out like a tactical weapon. In other words, it's a bit more unobtrusive than many other "choppers" and might be a bit less "alarming" to strangers you may come across in the woods, but it will still easily remove the briar sticking to my leg or take out an eyepoker branch when needed. Lovely knife for walking through thick cover and it can handle many bushcraft chores as well.

Looks very interesting. For a stainless 6 inch camp knife it looks tough to beat for the price. I love a convex edge for feathersticks. Easier to control than a scandi imo. Forget the esee 6, for around the same price, I’d take that any day.

I’ve done a lot of tests comparing it to the falkniven A1x and the Esse 6. It’s more effective. I am not convinced by the too rounded shape of the tip. This makes an unbreakable tip but not a tip to drill a hole and makes the look not beautiful. Keeping the width of the blade, good compromise between the Esse 6 and the A1x too narrow for transverse batoning but with the shape of the A1x, this knife would be for me the best of all.This knife is incredible and not very expensive.

I don't need to Carry an anchor, my Mora classic #2 and my Fiskars X7 would process and carve all the wood i need for a fraction of the money and weight.😊

I have a Nomad 5" and the Nessmuk. Joker has beautiful designs and I really like their sheaths. Unfortunately I have had issues with the edge chipping/rolling on my Nomad. The Nessmuk is 14c28n and I think the Nomad would be perfect if it was in that steel as well. I'm curious if others have any thoughts on their experience with N695?

26:30 Actually I think that is the problem with the Nomad 6.5. - the only 5 mm thickness, witch works great on the 5 inch and narrower Nomad, but seem undersized for the 6.5, where a 6 mm (like the classical Fallkniven A1) would be more desirable. But an even more "have to have it" Nomad, would be an 8-8.5 incher with a 7mm thickness - I would happily pay the price.

Morning Mark. Nice knife, and I’m glad you found this company. I may very likely get something from them next year. If they’re half as good as you say, the prices are really decent. If only their website wasn’t so bad, I could choose more easily, and the Canadian outdoors site doesn’t help, with the horrible photos of them. They look so different from what you show. It always strikes me, and you touched on this, that every time someone demonstrates a big knife, they always use the first half of the blade. Big knives, to me, are a waste, unless you want to go light, and skip the axe, or want to build stuff, and maybe use it as a draw knife etc.. oh, and no big deal, but J is pronounced H in Spanish. That’s why Jesus is pronounced "Heysus". No idea how the rest of it would be pronounced, but I could ask my buddy who is from Spain, if you like. Have a good weekend!

I'm new to bushcraft/survival type stuff. Would a compact axe, a folding saw and then some sort of scandi/sabor knife be a good base for all you need?
