Great video. Some of the myths that I hear as well about our nomadic lifestyle. Eliminating those fixed expenses back home really does free you up to affordably travel the world. So true about healthcare in many places being as good or better than in the US, at an affordable price. Burnout can be a problem, but the solution is to just slow down. It's all about spending most of your days as regular daily living, not being in vacation mode all the time. One myth I hear sometimes is about food. I love Thai food and will seek out Thai restaurants everywhere I travel. When I tell people I had some great Thai food in, say, Greece, they will say, with surprise, "They have Thai food in Greece?!". And I say, "Yes, they do. Why is that surprising?". And they reply, "Well, you're in Greece, not Thailand." So I remind them that you can have Thai food in the US and you're not in Thailand there either. Americans aren't the only ones who like to eat other people's foods!

So true!!! Just had pizza here in Slovakia. It's across from the Thai place!

Here’s a myth buster for you! It’s not always cheaper to live in other countries. After 15 years as a nomad who’s been to 40 countries, I returned to the US in 2018. I’ve been able to reduce my expenses to $1600/month including rent, utilities, phone, food, insurance, transportation, entertainment and more. At 63, I’d like to live abroad again but it’s hard to find a place where I can live as well and spend less. If I go back on the road, it will be for a more enjoyable, healthier lifestyle.

Great video! I want to launch full-time travel once my younger kid finishes high school in under a year. But my partner wants to maintain a home base and just go on trips. His main stumbling block is maintaining friendships. The fear is that, while we'd meet new people while staying somewhere, we wouldn't see them again after leaving or, in the case of other nomads, not often enough to maintain a friendship. I'm wondering how often (like approximately how many times a year) you're able to meet up with the same friends on the road, including while traveling back in the US. Thanks!

We've have a possee of about a dozen couple friends we see randomly. Between visits, we keep in touch via social and facetime. Two couples we now make travel plans with and even share housing. Our social network is bigger and more engaging than it ever was in traditional life.

I have three fears that keep me from traveling: 1) I have very little tolerance for hot (and, to a lesser degree, cold) temperatures, so being in an accommodation without adequate air conditioning/heating or on non air conditioned transportation would be dangerous. 2) I am dependent upon a medication made by a compounding pharmacist here in the U.S. that is unavailable in some other countries. I could plan ahead to be outside the U.S. for two months; then I would need to know I had a way to procure my medication in that foreign country. 3) I am a 76-yr.-old woman with restricted physical abilities. I cannot walk several blocks while carrying luggage. I would enjoy going to a destination for a month or longer and renting a small place or a room in a home, then move on to the next location. My favorite destinations are New Zealand and Australia. Do you think I could manage traveling with these issues?

Great points. Thanks for sharing 😊 one question re credit cards: does your provider scan the front AND back of your card? Or would you need to ask them?
@EatWalkLearn
@EatWalkLearn 16 дней назад
They scan the front automatically and have to ask to scan the back
