G’day there! Can I just say, the population of Oz doesn’t stop in Brisbane on the east coast but continues all the way up the coast. There are dozens of towns all the way to Cairns and beyond. So glad you loved your stay. Currently reading your book. Cheers
Yes the reverse culture shock with consumerism and general social culture is very real. We too are nomads and our lives are so much different now than they were at home. I am not looking forward to going home to visit family and friends... they can't relate to the world that you have been living in while away... time has marched on for them in the same rat race... while our lives have gone in slow motion.
so if i get the e-sim plan do i still have to get google voice? I always travel outside US and never have any plan, only when theres a WiFi available, i hate it, please HELP! And also, whats the best e-sim??
Steve, on Google Voice do you route your cell number to the current foreign phone number that you are using? When I traveled for work to overseas locations I used a call forwarding service.
First time hearing eSIM. Does it mean I can use my US phone number while traveling overseas if I opted for global service from FlexiRoam? If traveling to Japan, how to acquire Japan phone number? If I like to use US phone number do I need to do anything with the setting, and so if I would like to use Japan phone number, do I need to do any thing with the setting or is it done seamless in the background. If I would to access my US account - banking or emails and so on, do I need to do anything with the settings and how? I'm not tech savvy, so please provide as many details as possible. I really appreciate your help and thank you...
I love the reposition cruise because most of the passengers are matures or retirees, they are quieter, nicer , less noise than the young passengers. And things seems more relax on the reposition cruise.
@@EatWalkLearn hmm... I thought using Wi-Fi calls, we still can receive calls/texts from The US, which means we keep USA phone number. Is it not the case? Thanks
Glad it worked out so well for you in Aruba. Thanks for teaching others how to enjoy fun affordable travel. I’ll be you are now looking forward to some cooler weather though!
Another very helpful video. Great reference. Thanks. Just wondering if you will be keeping the new snorkel equipment you bought and making room for it in your carry on bags. I know space is precious with just one bag. I guess that’s always a consideration. B&J
Thank you for the info.. Google support page said that if I port my number, the number is removed from my carrier and my plan may be canceled.. is it true? Instead of porting, have you tried just use the google number to get 2-way authentication from US banks? Thanks again
I can't speak for your carrier's cancellation. You'd need to speak to them. You might be able to use GV without porting, but I haven't tried that. You'd probably have to use a different number though.
My problem with the esim was I had to have wifi to contact tech support then had to turn off wifi to test if solution worked. Each time it didn't, I would lose tech support and have to start again.
When I call, I get WhatsApp working on my phone and computer and then go back and forth between screen shots, reboots, etc do I don't list connection w tech support
@@EatWalkLearn ya still no worky... even as a code at checkout. Does the affiliate like usually work for people? When you click it, does it redirect you properly? Mine just say 'connected', then hits the regular default page on Flexi
From Google AI: Google Voice can be used for two-factor authentication (2FA), but some banks, like Bank of America, don't allow Google Voice numbers for online banking. For example, one LinkedIn user reported that Google Voice doesn't work with Wells Fargo's SMS 2FA service. My Solution: Get a phone with dual SIM slots (with or without eSIM capability). Buy a cheap unlimited talk/text only plan from US Mobile ($8/month) and get the physical SIM (do not use eSIM). Right before leaving the US, turn on Wi-Fi Calling and turn off auto-updates for the phone's software. Wi-Fi Calling must never be turned off outside the US or this won't work unless you travel back to the US and turn it back on. (Note: switching to and from an eSIM or updating the phone's software will temporarily turn off Wi-Fi Calling and it won't work). When you arrive at your destination country, buy a SIM and data plan. You can use your US number from US Mobile for talk and text to/from any US phone number without any extra charges as long as you're connected to Wi-Fi or you have data from your second SIM.
We look at cruise excursions when we visit places even though we aren't on a cruise. We are in Quebec City for a month. And got some great ideas and do it on our own. Great pointers.
Just a side note, on Airbnb and all platforms, YOU CAN manage host and ask for 28 days + days or midterm rates. Most of time they will give much cheaper rates because host rather rent it out during slow seasons. Always ask. “ ask you shall receive “ Travel safely ❤
Hi Im excited to hear about FlexiRoam Have you used it in Brazil ?? Also I saw another international roaming provider called USIMS that says I can keep my US number thank you in advance for your advice! I love watching your videos
I am a realtor/ midterm rental manager. Just remember there are many scammers on social media and Facebook. Just never sand money you never see face. Do zoom , google meet and FaceTime . Make sure their process is professional. Scammers everywhere so be a smart investor and traveler! On our Airbnb listing 60% of request for booking were scammers. Someone don’t have a profile picture, no review, no cellphone, not fully verified by listing platforms are scammers.
As someone who hosted, very briefly, in 2016, I can tell you that they did Nothing (and were literally impossible to reach), when a young man rented from me and allowed his 16yr old sister to host her 17th birthday party there. I was incredibly fortunate to have been in town that weekend (the only time this had ever happened), and something just didn’t seem right to me, so I drove by. By 8:45pm there were 50+ teenagers drinking and smoking and dropping Red Velvet birthday cake batter on our hard wood floors (yes, it stains), Air BnB literally refused even to withhold their security deposit, so I was stuck repairing a couple of walls (don’t ask) and decided that the dining room buffet was not important enough to pay the $3,000 to refinish(!) Needless to say, it was the last time I rented out my home.
Totally agree! My struggle is always wanting to book something out of FOMO (what if we arrive and there aren't good options??). But, I do need to plan less and just let things unfold. The experience could be more magical than anything I would have booked.
I finally made it to genius level 3 with booking. I have completed 46 bookings in last 24 months and I messaged booking saying , hey shouldn’t I be at genius level 3 and they said only need 4 more bookings by October and so I emailed them back and said hey, I’ve had 46 bookings in the last 2 years and I got bumped but no compensation for not being level 3 for last 31 bookings
how do the people you rent from handle issues/problems with the properties ? and do you have travel insurance to cover you for cancellations or problems?
I am renting from property management companies and real estate agencies. They are businesses in the rental industry that have teams of people in place (plumbers, electricians, gardeners, contractors, etc). When problems arise, they contact the appropriate team member to fix it. These business do not cancel your rental agreement/lease. If something disastrous would happen to the home you’re supposed to rent from them, they would contact you and offer you different options from there long list of properties that they manage.
