Trivia note: the first 3 characters created wete Cloud, Barret and Aerith. Tifa was created once the decision for Aerith to be made "unalive" was decided (I hate the algorithm).

“Kingdom Heart’s 3” is also label by Square as the end of the “Xehanort Saga”. After saying that, things would have to go a new route regardless.

Each new entry in VII has always taken influenced from the last and built from it, each one bringing in new lore while drawing from older lore. Sadly, I get what Nomura says about terrible fates, but I hope they don't go too easy on us. Sometimes the terrible is very memorable when it's someone we're attached to. I'm not worried about them dialing back on Aerith's death, but somehow I feel like some of my other darker imaginary scenarios might be a little overboard 🤣

Nomura had an interesting thing to say in an interview in advent children complete about last order, Nibelheim, and it's many variations, specifically in regards to Sephiroth's different outcomes. "Did it really the outcome? Did it change anything about the story?" Almost like no matter what you do, you can't fight fate. Then crisis core came out, where each character that tried to fight their fate met their preordained ends. And now, this Sephiroth has seen multiple worlds? Experienced each fate? ...no doubt tried to change the outcomes, again and again?

I really hope after the trilogy a standalone Zack game comes out. Zack deserves the treatment.

He had a game where he was the standalone character (in fact the ONLY playable character)- Crisis Core/Reunion! If that's the case, I hope we get a Cloud standalone game because he deserves it too!

Heya Dave, You're doing the groundwork and getting us the 411 :) I'm sure it took you hours to get the information, present it, then condense and publish it. When he said he couldn't talk about Aerith right now and how he was talking about fans input and how sometimes you just have to do things, it gave me a glimmer of hope that maybe he will be brave and give us the true unknown journey that was promised. While it may piss a lot of purists and old fans off, I think in the long run it would be the right decision. The remake project doesn't have to be exactly like the OG, and I'm hoping we at least get a bittersweet ending for Zack and Aerith as in for instance the worlds unite so they can help Cloud and friends stop Sephiroth and Jenova once and for all. They are granted sometime before the worlds separate giving the player some post game time to see the four and the others get to spend some time together. Ultimately Zack and Aerith are allowed to live their lives out, but in another world. There's a part of me that would have preferred the alternate timeline universe and getting the Laguna style play through with Zack and friends, that would have been so sick with Kunsel, Cissnei, and whoever else. Great video Dave, always looking good, I wished I had hair like yours that just seems to stay right where you want it and it looks fine, but thank God for brushes lol

I'm trying not to be super optimistic but it would be incredible if the story writers let Aerith survive at the end of the FF7 Remake trilogy. I already got teary eyed and shook with joy when she appeared during the final fight in Rebirth. I hope I'm surprised again in a positive way.

@@ourfamilyaccount I think there are many of us who would like that. People always come back and say "well what about the theme of death and life?" My thoughts on that personally is that this is a sequel. I believe Sephiroth is trying to remake the world and edit the memories of the lifestream. How awesome of a reward for Zack and Aerith it would be if they are rewarded with life for helping Cloud and friends as they are fighting for the planet. On a side note, look up Octavios version of no promises to keep and I have a comment there where I wrote a script for a trailer of how I envision what a Zack dlc would look like with that version being played in the background.

Retirement age in Japan is 60 years old but that's mostly for government jobs square as a company has there own policy that man was eligible for retirement like 10 years ago now hes a creative hes never really leaving he will retire collect his check and most likely remain a consultant

I think people were saying the reason it’s important that Aerith was made first wasn’t bc she’s more important than Tifa, I think it was to prove that she is the canon love interest. I’m not into the whole shipping thing either but I did just start playing FF7 last year for the first time and I was confused who to choose between the girls to get the real story and I found this out through a bit of research. So basically Aerith is the actual story but it’s totally fine to choose Tifa it just doesn’t go with the story. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So KH 4 is a full reboot for us that never played the originals?

It will serve as an easier entry point for new players but the game will still be a continuation of the multi-decade KH story. The larger narrative reveals will have more impact if you’ve played the series from the beginning. That’s easier said than done nowadays because KH4 heavily relies on lore from the Union X mobile game which is now delisted.
