basically, those little green pointy things aren't missiles, they are like drones called FUNNELS that is launched from her 4 wings, and the drones are mentally linked so she can control them with her mind instead of buttons and electronics. [SOME people in Gundam has supernatural powers called newtype where they can telepathically attack people or control things with their mind such as those funnels.]
Some extra detail. The pilot uses a system (psychomu system) that is connected to the funnel drones to control them with their brain waves. And certain people with better perception and sense (newtypes) are more suitable to use funnels.
@@playedit0ut290 Yeah, dumping big chunks of UC lore in a YT comments sure is informative... What's next? Explaining who Marida is actually, for whom she is working ect? I don't think such deep dive is needed. In your case your are introducing new terms like psycommu, NewType and since we are talking Marida Cruz (aka Ple Twelve) why not also CyberType? Like I don't think the comment section is a place to jump in the rabbit hole of Gundam...only hinting that such exist.
@@verush27 I agree. I remember getting into U.C Gundam 10-15 years ago and there are enough details to worry about so extra in comments can be to much.
@@verush27 hey that wasn't my intention. I may have ran my mouth but I only want to provide some better context to someone who doesn't know about the series that's all. Don't be so condescending about it.
Marida is a newtype. She’s got enhanced spatial awareness and reaction time among other abilities. The Kshatriya is a suit built just for her The Stark Jegan pilot as far as we know, is just a normal guy piloting a modified grunt suit built to take on ships and not other mobile suits (that’s what the escorts were for). The fact that he lasted so long against Marida and the Kshatriya says a lot about his skill. Especially compared to his escorts which didn’t even last 10 seconds against her. We see some tactics at play too. The Jegan pilot uses his rockets to lure the Kshatriya close to him, then switches to melee combat to avoid the Kshatriya’s funnels.
@センス🎣🛸 I never said he wasn’t. In fact it’s likely he fought against Char’s Neo Zeon too since he knows how to fight against funnels. I was just saying that as far as we know, he’s not a newtype.
@JC885 Marida is a newtype but a CYBER-newtype. Difference is that Cyber-newtypes are modified people who are genetically and psychologically to be made like Newtypes. Newtypes on the other hand are people who have the will power and their soul to feel presence, act like a 3rd sense of danger or feeling bloodlust on the field, spatial awareness and precognition. And Marida is also a clone, otherwise known as Ple-Twelve. A clone of the original Newtype girl named Ple. The reason is that she’s a clone that the EF (Earth Federation) wanted to have more cyber newtypes to fight against Zeon and got Ple’s genetic DNA to create more clones despite Judau (protag of the ZZ) saved her, died later on and fought against the clone of Ple, named Ple-Two, piloting the Quebely MK-II to have a remembrance of Ple and taking care of her. And those good sir, are funnels. Not missiles. Missiles are ballistic based and funnels are beam based. Funnels are controlled psycho-communication technology. In other words, weapons controlled via the mind. Not an ordinary person can unless they have the potential to be a newtype or be genetically modified in a lab to have newtype power as a Cyber-Newtype so get used to it, in the world of Gundam, it’s pretty strong and overpowered. Why? Imagine fighting in a MS like the Kyshatriya (skipping all the technical if you’re a Newtype or Cyber and whatnot), you can wipe out squadrons of MS (Mobile Suits, general term of the robots you will see. And note, not all MSes are Gundams but all Gundams are MSes.) without having to lift a finger! Just imagine that for me. And the fact that the Stark Jegan putting up a good fight despite a trained pilot VS Marida in the Kyshatriya which used 28 funnels in total (7 funnels in each wing as there are 4 wings) was able to stand toe to toe with her in a beam saber fight. That takes skill legitmately irl. Also that’s not a light saber sir, that’s a BEAM saber. Difference is that light saber is from Star Wars and is derived from Kyber Crystals while beam sabers in Gundam are derived from particles generated from the Minovsky generators (the engine running the MS) to make that heat compressed into a like heat plasma blade. Hence, a beam saber.
That Jegan pilot could have won with a better mobile suit. He did very well with what he had and it’s a shame he/she died like this with such a big disadvantage.
That's not entirely true btw. The Jegan's specs were equal if not higher than this outdated Kshatriya. It was a close fight between 2 amazing pilots. Let's remember that in the novels, Marida with a broken down Kshatriya was able to hold off Full Frontal in a 1v1.
@@suhendiabdulah6061 Not to mention the stark jegan is an anti-ship/anti-fort configuration of the jegan so it's not even as nimble as the base model. The pilot is Mike "Frost" Wilkins and he survived the axis push in CCA. What a man.
@@Fedorahatter yeah but jaegan is originaly a speed type mobile suit so with superb pilot he just need to abandon heavy weaponry he carry and do meele fight Henestly jaegan pilot(mike) already maximalized every potensial of jaegan ms......its pity the opponent is to overpowered
@@damiester1 the hell? its only old in the sense that the kshatriya was a miniaturized queen mansa, which was one of the most powerful machines of all time in the UC. it alone could probably devastate half of the zanscare army by itself. hell, even by the end, i dont think they had that many machines that could put a dent on it in a fair fight. maybe something like the gottrlatan could take it down, and even that wouldnt be an easy win. one thing people have to understand is that, even something like the v or the sazabi arent that far superior to the ZZ or the qubeley. if anything, the jegan was basically on par with the mk2. if not inferior. the kshatriya was superior to the sazabi, and the nightingale. it was equiped with multiple I-field generators, which alone could protect it from most of what they could do. of course not counting the pilot skill diference, as that is always more important than the machines themselves.
Process that the Kshatriya (green mobile suit) shot down 3 Jegans (2 regular Jegans and Stark Jegan) who were kitted for anti-ship combat, not anti-MS combat, and did not expect a concealed escort suit (Kshatriya)(0:38). The Jegan commander could've dumped his missiles to lighten his suit, but opted to use them for flak before dumping the empty launcher (2:22) -- didn't expect a hit on her because the point was distraction, tho scoring a hit couldn't hurt. Took a hit on his forearm when dashing in (2:30). 1:40 The commander's mates both got shredded at distance inside of 15 seconds -- and he had the presence of mind to try shelving Kshatriya's funnels by closing in and locking sabers. 3:04 If not for the POWERFUL thruster wash (0:58/1:08) at the end, he probably would've won in a fight where he outlasted his team by 3-quarters of a minute. --- Re. your questions: - the laser sword is a beam saber if the blade is thin and purely energy; a beam sword is a regular-to-heavy regular sword edged with an energized edge that can be used as a powered/unpowered sword. The saber is designed for suit-to-suit combat, the sword usually for heavier destruction -- for example, the Sword Strike Gundam ("Gundam SEED") has an anti-ship sword. - the funnels (1:30) are remote-controlled drones armed with beam cannons in most cases; in "Gundam SEED", a machine-gun variant exists as the Moebius Zero's 4 wired gunbarrels. - mobile suit is explicitly a mobile weapon with a humanoid form, mobile armor is one without a humanoid form, and there are transformable mobile suits with a mobile armor mode. One example, the Gaia Gundam from "Gundam SEED Destiny".
Other MS team fighting a newtype mobile suit:RETREAT!!ONLY A GUNDAM CAN FIGHT THAT! Londo Bell MS team on a slightly modified grunt unit:TENNO HEIKA BANZAI!!!!!
The Kshatriya here is a very unique machine, there's only one of them in existence, and it's extremely powerful. Very few normal Mobile Suits/Pilots can actually stand up to it in direct combat. There are also multiple different Gundam series. The original Mobile Suit Gundam (which hasn't aged very well, as it came out way back in the late 60s, IIRC), The 08th MS Team (takes place during the same time period as Mobile Suit Gundam, but it's a much more modern, albeit short, series), Gundam Wing, Gundam SEED, 00 Gundam, Iron-Blooded Orphans, and Gundam Build Fighters just to name a few. All of them have a different sort of theme or setting (Iron-Blooded Orphans for instance is one of the darker and grittier Gundam storylines, while 08th MS team is closer to being "realistic" as far as warfare goes, at least for something involving giant humanoid robot war machines, as most fights are decided on who has the better tactics and teamwork rather than who has the most overpowered machine....it's also home to one of the best fights in Gundam history in the form of the 08th MS Team vs the Gouf Custom), and most are entirely standalone stories, so in most cases you can watch one without watching another and be perfectly fine and not miss anything, though some Gundam series were given a sequel series, such as Gundam SEED having Gundam SEED Destiny as it's sequel (which sadly isn't quite as good as the original SEED, which stings a bit for me since SEED is home to one of my favorite Gundam heroines in Cagalli Yula Athha). And to answer one of your questions here, yes, some mobile suits *can* transform, but not all of them. The Jegans here don't transform, but they can "purge" excess equipment that they no longer need to decrease the weight of the machine and to increase their mobility and agility. The humanoid machines are called "Mobile Suits" while the less humanoid ones are called "Mobile Armors", and sometimes a Mobile Suit can transform into a Mobile Armor and vice-versa (a good example of this being the Zeta Gundam from Z Gundam). But such machines are relatively uncommon as lore-wise the mechanisms required to enable a mobile suit to transform are complex and can sometimes limit what a given unit can or cannot do, as transforming mobile suits often need special equipment designed exclusively for use with that particular model of machine, which can be expensive for the faction developing it, to the point that it could even make it unfeasible to mass-produce a given transforming mobile suit, relegating it to use as a unit used exclusively by Ace pilots.
@@lokostalel9068 ah, i think the ones who came out from what i said is the other gundam series, my bad Edit: no wait, I'm right, First Gundam series did come out on 1979
those "Blades" are not light sabers, they are basically the beams from the rifles, but stabilized to hold that "long thin flame". it basically works like a lightsaber, but mostly because the beam is concentrated radiation that eats through anything that touches it.
this is like one of the best fighi scnes in Gundam and the creaziest part is the one of the characters remains unnamed to this day 16 year since the original Novel started. And Gundam like any other long running series LOVES to elaborate on the random obscure characters that shows up and does some cool shit. The fight itself is also increadibly dense with detail that once you're a bigger Gundam fan you'll notice such as how the Stark Jegan basically discards all excess weight and bumrushes the Kshatriya the moment he realizes that the Kshatriya has drone-type weapons so close quarters combat would work better (since they can't shoot at the Stark Jegan without hitting the Kshatriya). And in the final stuggle the Stark Jegan positions himself so that the sun would be behind him and blind the pilot of the Kshatriya. This fight is just, so insanely cool.
@@darkness-gk1eb pacific rim doesnt really have anything with gundam though. gundam is war between people, with machines that are closer to fighter jets than tanks(even though the rx-79 starts incredibly tanky, by the end, everything is basically a oneshot, gundam included). pacific rim is far closer to the classic super robot stuff, like mazinger or getter.
More gundam fights more gundam fights there are some specific fights that are worthy of you watching from some series gundam 00 vs the o gundam or Z gundam vs the O trust me those are some fight that you're going to love
What i uate about Gundam is how named characters can slaughter namelss grunts like they were tissue paper, even if the grunts are piliting superior machines.

It existed in Zeta Gundam Basically in the early 80's There was no term for "Drones" back then. Just Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) for non-combat purposes. (Intel gathering) Since combat UAV's were just in between the concept & designing phase back in the early 80's. The mid 90's was where the UAVs finally got to be used as a combat Drone.
