after the original Dragonball Goku and his friends went their separate ways and didn't keep touch. This scene is a reunion after not seeing each other for 5 years

Yep, that is exactly what happened. Goku left, got married, and had a child and said nothing about it for 5 years. So they were very shocked to see him with a child.

They brought goku to earth when he was able to walk, but the plan for goku to destroy the earth was that he turns into a giant ape when he looks at the full moon and the giant ape's instincts are to cause destruction everywhere in its wake. In OG dragonball they said Goku was a devious child when Grandpa Gohan first found him, he had to fight with him a lot to clean him and dress him. Even Goku deliberately hurting him all the time, but his violent nature went away as soon as he hit his head after grandpa gohan accidentally dropped him down a hill. Suddenly his violent nature was gone and Goku had permanent amnesia.

I love watching people who don't know much of Dragon Ball Z watch the Abridged version, because it's the same story just funnier.

This was a really interesting perspective to get since I basically grew up on this shit. Mostly only z in GT but nobody talks about GT. Never mention GT. It's interesting to see people still react to The abridged version even today after 12 God damn years glad you're watching it and welcome hope you don't get scared off by some of the people here 😅

Hope you enjoy this series. While the writing was always pretty good, the series truly finds its stride in Season 2 and becomes something great from there.

The voice work is amateurish (even in later seasons) and you can miss some subtle humor without them. I can't force you to watch them in this order, but it's strongly suggested. This playlist doesn't include the extras and music videos (but add them at your pleasure), only the abridged episodes/specials/movies.
