That place where they fought the Saiyans was an old planet where the Saiyans took over. Those Saiyans were about half the strength of Vegeta and Nappa; they were used a reference for how hard they needed to train.

Shenron cannot grant a wish exceeding the power of his creator. However, like the dragon said, they COULD have killed the Saiyans in an indirect way like forcing their ships into an asteroid field, making them die out in space. But for narrative reasons, obviously that can't happen in a series focused on fight scenes.

As far as whether or not things make sense, Toriyama (the creator and artist) generally forgot, changed stuff later, or simply wanted to do it another way. Within the canon of the story, most everybody are warriors and want to fight. Goku, while seen as mostly a good guy by the fandom, is actually just a dude that wants to fight stronger and stronger people; Toriyama actually talked about this misconception at one point. This actually gets the universe in Dragonball Super. He loves his family and friends, but I don't see him as a "good" guy anymore.

That honestly makes so much sense for all of the inconsistencies. And Goku does seem like he likes to fight any and everybody just to get stronger.. 🤔

to grant a wish the wish has to be with in the power of the dragon balls creator Kami isn't more powerful then the sayans there for the dragon could not simply wish them away.

@@ari_skies2 Namekians are required to make dragon balls Kami is a Namekian as well as Piccolo, but no the Sayans didn't have dragon balls on their home planet. At this point the only two who do are earth and Namek
