It's always tough when it's obvious that the person reacting is putting up a facade for the camera, talking too much -not out of genuine reaction but rather because they feel like they need to say something all the time, and often what they comment on feels shallow and generic. Honest reactions, regardless if its silence or screaming or laughter, is always the best.
There`s no better feeling than when you see someone just completely swallowed wordlessly by something you love too. A speechless reaction is sometimes MUCH more valuable than non-stop talking. So thank you for being silent just like us while rewatching all those breathtaking moments with you. :)

Dunno if someone said. When Hanzo was praying in front of the damaged katana and the blood splattered scroll on the wall...the feather that he placed on the ground symbolizes his brother, who they used to call Sparrow as a kid. When Genji vanished at the end a feather drifted down towards the camera.
Genji's voice actor himself has a headcannon where the narrator of the Dragons cenematic was Genji and Hanzo's father telling a bedtime story. And that Hanzo was the better swordsman but Genji could defeat him in this scenario because he used a bow, Hanzo refuses to use the sword because that is the weapon that killed his brother.
i think it might actually be true that it’s the father that’s narrating. at the end, hanzo says that “real life is not like the stories our father told us.” the video starts off with a story being told. the narrator’s voice also sounds a lot older compared to hanzo and genji.
The narrator is clearly Hanzo. Same voice actor. He says RIGHT AT THE START of the video that the dragon story was told to him by his father. Which of course he repeats to Genji at the end of the video. So yes, the story did come from their father. Edit: Also Hanzo clearly recognizes the parallels between the dragon tale and his own situation with Genji, hence the line about the stories their father told him.

The thing that makes the Overwatch shorts so good is that the only connection they have to the game is the characters and some of what they're capable of. Blizzard has always been good at making an emotional impact in such a short time, and anyone - whether they play the game or not - can appreciate a good story. Glad you're enjoying these!
@@HannaHsOverInvested The kids in the museum was the announcement cinematic for the game, it's the first thing we ever saw of Overwatch and it was incredible. Incidentally, chronologically I believe it happens just before "Alive" and not after as you watched them. That's why Tracer says "trying to crash another party love" in Alive, because she just fought with her in the museum before that. That's also why Tracer is so happy go lucky in the museum and at the start of Alive (because she was winning until now) while at the end of Alive she's bitter and desperate.
@@Syn741 well, considering Warcraft and WoW are the most popular games (apart from SC) and WoW movie was just alright, nothing special, they will think twice making another movie unfortunately. I wish we had OW movie too, even cartoon one like their cinatics.

to answer some of your questions: Lena Oxton (codename: Tracer) was a bright and upcoming pilot in the R.A.F (royal air force), she was chosen as a test pilot for a new type of jet fighter that used new temporal technology, during the test flight for this aircraft it malfunctioned and exploded causing tracer to be trapped in a state of constant flux where without her harness is constantly jumping in and out of reality, her body is the same as it was at the time of the accident yet she is almost double that in age now, as a result of the harness she wears she can maintain her corporeal form and has some control over her local spacetime which means she can rewind time very slightly for herself to avoid potentially life threatening situations (as seen in the widowmaker cinematic), she also uses this power to 'jump' which is mini teleportation events which she uses for mobility and to reposition on the battlefield. in the rise and shine cinematic the thing that's even more hard hitting for Mei is the fact that she designed and built the cryo pods they used for hibernation and as a result feels personally responsible for the deaths of her team members, in regard to the cryo weapon she built 1 single drop of the fluid can create a small clump of ice making it so that the extrapolation of mass from it is huge, to make that huge ice structure that she did to stop the tower collapsing likely only took a shot glass worth of liquid. in the dragons cinematic, Hanzo is the older brother to Genji who are both children of the Shimada clan (bascially the mafia of japan in the OW universe), Hanzo was a master swordsman and it was in the shrine room of the main building complex (where he sets down his incense etc) that he 'killed' his brother Genji with the sword on the pedestal (which is why the blade is chipped), after that incident he swore never to lift a sword again (hence why he now uses a bow like an archer), thanks to the medical technology of overwatch and skills of dr angela ziegler (codename: Mercy), Genji survived as a cyborg, part man part machine and went to the omnic monk 'Zenyatta' to seek guidance and solace which is how he was able to forgive his brother for what he did, if you listen carefully at the point in the fight where Genji is about to kick Hanzo back into the fence you can hear his mechanical legs 'wind up' which gives him the force to push Hanzo back so far.
Your reactions were just right. Some reaction videos have people talking ALL throughout non-stop , so much so that I wonder if they're are even paying attention to the story or words being said. Then there are those who just watch something, say nothing at all, and then they end the video. You reacted at all the parts that were meant to impact us and you made little comments here and there but mostly you were really engaged and attentive to what you were watching, saving most of the commentary for the end. Idk if anyone ever answered this question for you or if you read the lore about Hanzo and Genji but they were both the sons of the leader of the Shimada Clan. Hanzo was serious about taking over the clan and Genji couldn’t care less about it. Hanzo was next in line, and requested his brother took a more active role in the family business. He refused and This angered Hanzo. They fought, hanzo won. He Destroyed 85% of Genji’s body and left him for dead but never saw him die. Overwatch found him and rescued him from death, and rebuilt his body entirely. In return he had to work for their dark sector called Blackwatch. They mainly ran assassinations and he had his mind set on dismantling his family business. Over time he became repulsed by his mechanical body and questioned his humanity. He abandoned Overwatch and traveled in to some mountains where he discovers an Omnic monk named Zenyatta who taught him that his mind was still human even though his body was not. This in turn taught him how to forgive his brother and this is why he confronts him.
Fun facts: - The omnic monk speaking is Tekharta Mondatta, a fellow comrade of the hero Zenyatta. - Widowmaker's skin is blue because Talon genetically modified her to have a slower heart rate, which vastly improves her shooting accuracy by reducing vibrations in her arms' blood vessels. - Tracer's chronal accelerator doesn't affect all time around herself - just her personal physical time. That's how she backtracked from Widowmaker's toxin mine in perfect health. - At the time of the first cinematic, Doomfist was only a name. Overwatch's development eventually decided to make him a prominent character. - Originally, Genji was going to wield both a sword and a bow. Eventually, though, the devs decided to split the weapons between him and another hero, which would be Hanzo.
Widowmaker was a former ballerina and professional gymnast as well as being married to an Overwatch agent. She was abducted by Talon when they failed to kill her husband and brainwashed into killing him for them she has had her heart rate slowed down to the point that it mimics that of a spider so hence the codename Widomaker the purple hue of her skin. and also her affinity with the Black Widow spider itself. After her husband's death, she joined Talon and remained one of the best Assasins they have had ever since she had a run-in with Ana Amari who is Pharah's mother and Ana's eyepatch is the result of that sniping duel needless to say Widowmaker nearly fatally shot Ana at the time when Ana came across her due to her shock of seeing Widowmaker given her past affiliation she let her guard down for a split second and that was all it took for Widow to shoot her but not kill her it might have been luck of a pang of memories of her former life and meeting Ana in the past or not but to all intents and purposes Ana was nearly killed by the shot. So most of Widows unarmed combat is down to her former vocation and alongside her "conditioning" she has become even more lethal the way she's was handing down like a spider in the first shot attempt is t testament to her abilities in acrobatics as well. I find her quite a tragic character too.
Basically Widowmaker is apart of Talon (anti-omnic) so she had to kill the omnic who was making peace with the humans. Tracer can teleport, but that’s not really important. She’s apart of Overwatch, and they’re about safety and harmony so if there’s trouble with omnics they will kill them, but if they’re making peace then they will enforce it.
The last cinematic is pretty confusing and needs backstory. Hanzo (bow and arrow guy) was tasked by his father to kill his brother Genji. Hanzo was the better swordsman and reluctantly killed his brother. However, while Genji laid dying Overwatch picked him up, and resurrected him. His body was to damaged so they put him in a cybernetic suit and wanted him to join Overwatch. Meanwhile, Hanzo vowed to never use a sword again and felt regretful. Hanzo is an extremely conflicted individual, as he doesn't know whether or not to pursue the life of crime and take over his father's crime ring or not. In the last scene, Hanzo aims his bow at Genji because he is conflicted between what is morally right and finishing his father's task: to kill Genji.
So, you had questions. Widowmaker (the sniper you don't like) was ordered to kill the Omnic leader, Mondatta, in order to kick off the second Omnic Crisis. The organization she's part of, Talon (you remember them from Recall) is led by Doomfist (the guy whose glove they were trying to retrieve), and while he's in charge of what's nominally a criminal organization, he's actually doing stuff in the belief that humanity only gets stronger when they're in conflict. A world at peace is a world that humanity gets soft in. (Yeah, not a normal worldview) So if there's no conflict? Make some. A lot of ex-Overwatch agents are part of Talon or working with them. Widow and Reaper are two of them. Overwatch stopped the first Omnic Crisis. Doomfist doesn't want any chance of that happening again. After you watch the cinematics, let me suggest you watch the Origin Stories. They're short (1-2 minutes at most), introduce most of the heroes, and give some additional details that fill in gaps in the cinematics. There's also the interactive comics, but I'd suggest reading those offline after you watch the Origin Stories. Enjoying the reactions! Hope you like the rest of the cinematics!
for me videogames are the best kind of story telling, maybe not the best stories, but the best form of getting someone involved nothing hits you more than a story twist, or an emotional scene, when you yourself are the one controlling the protagonist and actively interact with the characters around you I hope that all of this opens a new kind of storytelling to you, and maybe someday in the future, you need to erase the "N" in "NGW" :D
at 9:34 there is a reference to John Carpenter's "The Thing" where one of the engineers is named "MacReady" the name of one of the main characters in that movie (which also takes place in an antarctic research station)
I agree with your analysis at the end. The writing is phenomenal and deservers so much praise, the stories are very captivating and so are the characters and the level of emotions that are evoked from watching these cinematics is incredible. That combined with the beautiful animation is just a match made in heaven.
i dont thing getting bored is something that applies to watching or rewatching Blizzard cinematics. personally i could watch dragons over & over because it is an amazing short story that kind kinda hits hard & that has some of the best visuals out of all the cinematics.
Regardless of the popularity/controversies of Blizzard's games over the years, I've yet to run into someone in the community that complains about their cinematic department.

Watching people react to Blizzard cinematics is one of my favorite things to do on RU-vid. If I had to rank my favorite stuff to watch, it would be: 1) Death battles (who would win if two fictional characters fought?) 2) Blizzard reaction videos.

i ALWAYS get goosebumbs when i see the video of Widow. Widow is a part of Talon (enemy of Overwatch) and i assume Talon wants to start a new Omnic war with world domination as goal. Overwatch is the worst game to play but you keep coming back daily because you love it that much at the same time. its a really weird feeling also when snowball sacrifices his battery it always gives me this a lump in my throat jeff and the devs of Overwatch are better making these videos than the game haha, almost every video gives me goosebumbs
Yayyy another Overwatch one 😬 and Now I know which character you’re referring to with the impractical outfit. her name’s Widowmaker btw and yeah the spider thing is her vibe (from her grappling hook to her back tatt and her goggles). You also saw the dragon brothers Genji and Hanzo. As of now definitely everyone who knows anything about Overwatch know that they are brothers. But before Overwatch got released the ‘Dragons’ cinematic was one of the few pre-release trailers and ooh boy can you imagine how mindblown we were when we first watched em? 🤯
Dragon video was my favorite of the Overwatch stuff, and was voiced (Narrator) by one of my favorite Asian actors who was in the original Mortal Kombat and did some good movies and TV too. Thank you for the reaction
If I may add a humble trailer suggestion. The Senua's Sacrifice 2 trailer is pretty quick but also pretty intense. I never played the first one but holy crap the trailer for the second one got me hyped as all hell. Be great to see if it pumps you up too.
I would recommend Team Fortress 2’s character intros called “Meet the team”(it’s a playlist) and after that a short film they made called “Expiration Date.” The game was pretty much Overwatch’s darker humored Grand-dad. The Character intros are mostly just for introduction purposes and comedy. Expiration Date actually has a story but you’ll probably want to know the characters before hand. Both are pretty easy to find on RU-vid.
Not boring at all! These are really good! They all kinda feel like a cross between Pixar and Marvel. Snowball is my hero. I’m missing all the backstory; like I think I get who overwatch are, but who are these villains? Are the dragon-magic brothers in overwatch too?
Iiiiit me again. So let’s get into these vids. The first video shows Widowmaker who’s a member of Talon. (If you remember from your last OW video, I explained they’re a terrorist group) Widowmaker started out as the rich wife of an Overwatch agent but was eventually abducted into Talon who experimented on her. They were able to bring down her heartbeat which is why her skin is blue. After training and brainwashing her to be an assassin, they sent her to murder her own husband. In the video, she murders Mondatta who’s a part of monk-like Omnics who believe in something known as the Iris which is their version of Nirvana. Mondatta and his brothers are seen as kind of a breach between humans and “good” Omnics and is a literal Ghandi allegory. Widowmaker is sent to assassinate him to sow chaos and the rest of the story was shown in the video. The location shown in the video is a playable location within the game known as King’s Row in England. Second one shows Mei Zhing Lou, a Chinese scientist who was part of a research team. Overwatch had numerous Ecopoints to study various things. The rest of the video is self explanatory. The third video shows Reaper and Widowmaker attempting to steal one of the gauntlets of Doomfist. Doomfist is a legacy name and there have been 3 so far throughout history. The first Doomfist was a hero who saved Africa during the first Omnic Crisis. The second to use the name was a man who instead of becoming a hero, joined Talon. The third and current Doomfist was the pupil of the second who murdered his master and usurped the title and gauntlet. He then went on to rise through Talon’s ranks and became one of their leaders. He was defeated by Winston, Tracer, and Genji and taken into custody. In this video, we see the two other agents of Talon attempting to steal the gauntlet just prior to Doomfist’s prison break. The rest of the video is, once again, self explanatory. The final video is of Hanzo and Genji Shimada. They came from a criminal family not unlike the Yakuza. While Hanzo obeyed every bit of his father’s commands and was groomed to become the next leader, Genji was more of the playboy type who spent most of his days gambling his father’s money away at casinos. Their father gave Hanzo an ultimatum: bring his brother into the fold or eliminate him. A mighty duel ensued and Hanzo cut down his brother and left him for dead. (You can see the blade he used in the video. It’s the blue handled katana he kneels before.) Genji was brought in by Overwatch and was saved thanks to the help of Dr. Angela Ziegler (who you’ll see in a later video. She’s also a hero in the game.) Think of Genji as a Japanese Robocop. Kept alive through advanced cybernetics and given various augmentations. He was recruited into Overwatch’s covert sector, Blackwatch by its leader Gabriel Reyes (who we all know to eventually become Reaper. Aka skull mask that vapes a lot.) After the fall of Overwatch, Genji struggled to find purpose and still struggled to accept his identity as half machine (in a world where the planet almost met its doom at the hands of robots, it was kinda hard for him to accept this part of him.) His travels took him to Nepal where he met Mondatta’s group of monk-like Omnics and became a pupil of Zenyatta (yet another hero in the game). The Dragons video shows Genji tracking Hanzo down to their family home on the day of his “death” knowing that was the one place he knew he’d find Hanzo to seemingly try to recruit him into the new Overwatch after the Recall. Their home is also a location you can play within the game. Genji and Hanzo are also weird in the way that almost everyone else are enhanced through bio-technology (Reaper’s smoke-like form is a type of rapid entropy. The swirling black mist is literally particles of himself that he can manipulate. These powers came about after his own supposed death after the fall of the Overwatch headquarters where he attacked Jack Morrison, the old soldier guy with the blue leather jacket. Thanks to a voice line in the game, we’re able to infer that Ziegler also tried to save Reaper but somehow botched the job. Once in Talon, he was rescued by their scientist/doctor known as Moira who augmented him with his hyper entropy powers). Genji and Hanzo’s family, however, seems capable of spirit magic which manifests in the form of spirit dragons. And in the game, if at the right place at the right time, an enemy Genji with quick enough reflexes can deflect Hanzo’s spirit dragon attack back at him.
Perhaps her overly chaotic and spiteful actions are a method of pushing her team mates away from her in order to never lose people who she has a close relationship with again. Or people who play mei are evil.
That excitement you feel after every cinematic it's what made me buy the game... and honestly the game it's not the same (still enjoyable though), but still, Overwatch has a great story and very good characters and a Story Mode is coming with OW2 so who knows. The point is, it's not boring to watch you enjoy all of this. I would even recommend that you watch the "Origin" trailers after you finish the CGI cinematics. It's a different animation but still worth it IMHO. Keep it up!
Dragons is one of their best. Wait till you watch Honor & Glory!!! Most game trailers are mostly teasers or previews. But Blizzard cinematics are basically short stories, they don't require much knowledge about their games to get whats going on.

on the 1st cinematic lets just simply say that the girl was in a time/space experiment and by an accident she can now kinda control her "time" so she can jump back a few moments,for the 2nd cinematic let me tell you something cause you are looking at Mei with such smile and love! 6:25 "I don't like her." Well, the characters in Overwatch are a mixture of heroes and villains. Widowmaker is one of the villains. So your disapproval of Widowmaker is justified. :-) (And in-game, you should hear some of the pre-battle dialogues between heroes and villains who happen to be on the same team, like McCree and Junkrat, McCree and Roadhog, Mercy and Reaper, Winston and Reaper, or, yes, Tracer and Widowmaker. :-D )

The Dragons short is one of my favorite of the shorts because of the presentation. I especially like that soundtrack. Between that Honor and Glory and Zero Hour, I can't really choose. The Shimada was a crime family in the Overwatch setting, Hanzo and Genji were the sons of its leader, who is also the narrator telling his boys the story of the two dragons. Genji was the youngest of the two, and lived the life of a rich party boy. Hanzo took on both of their responsibilities. When their father died, Hanzo was the new leader. He tried to get Genji to work with him, to share the mantle of the head of the Shimada Clan, but Genji refused, desiring to continue his carefree ways. The two would fight, Hanzo claiming it to be out of honor and duty. Genji sustained life-threatening injuries and was believed to have died. Doctor Angela Ziegler, AKA Mercy, found him and was able to rebuild him with cybernetic parts. He fought with the idea that he was physically more machine than man for years as he worked with Overwatch, and later Blackwatch, their Black Ops division, led by Gabriel Reyes. Blackwatch broke numerous international laws, operating in countries that didn't recognize Overwatch, and barred them from entering their territories. This came to a head when Reyes got into an argument with Overwatch commander, Jack Morrison. On that night, someone blew up the Overwatch headquarters, with Morrison and Reyes inside. With Overwatch disbanded, and laws put in place to prevent them from ever operating again, Genji would struggle to find who he was as a person now. It's during this time that he met with Zenyatta, an Omnic (machines that went rogue to such a degree that Overwatch was formed in the first place, some of the more humanoid omnics struggle to live amongst humans, and are often treated with distrust and cruelty even) monk, who helped him attain peace and accept that while his body may be mostly metal, Genji was still human with a soul. Reyes and Morrison would also both survive, Reyes having allowed Doctor Moria O'Deorain to experiment on him, turning him into Reaper. Morrison, who, with Reyes, was given a serum at the start of their career in Overwatch to make them super soldiers, would blame himself for everything that happened, feeling he could have done more to keep Blackwatch in check. He would take on the mantle of Solider 76 (As was his designation when the serum was being tested, Reyes was Soldier 24.), to mete out his own form of justice. There's so much lore and information on these characters that its still a damn shame they never made good on their promise to give us a story mode in the sequel. Or at the very least, give us a movie or tv show!
Cinematic story for anyone with questions. For Alive thats Widowmaker the sniper of a terrorist group called Talon. Her task was to kill the robot named Zenyatta and Tracer (the british chick) tried to stop her and obviously failed. For Rise and Shine thats Mei and her team of scientists in the cold who are also part of overwatch and as explained went to sleep. When Mei wakes up every other pod malfuntions and everyone dies but her. She finds the video of Winston practically the brain of overwatch and shes trying to get back to Overwatch after Winston says that Overwatch is back. Dragons is the Story of the Shimada brothers Genji and Hanzo. Genji disagreed with the plans of the Shimada clan and Hanzo had to kill him. They were both master swordsmen and Hanzo was better and supposedly killed Genji. Due to his disgust of slaying his brother with a sword Hanzo threw away the sword and picked up the bow. Now Hanzo thinks he's being sent to be assasinated while it's Genji visiting him again and they fight as shown (to clear it up Genji survived because Overwatch found him and revived him) Then Genji reveals himself and yeah the cinematic shows.
Genji's reveal isn't made very clear, but I believe Hanzo assumed the "assassin" was an omnic (robot). That's why yhe fact he was his BROTHER, much less human, was such a shock. Problem is, cool as his armor is, there's no real visual indicators that Genji has any prostheses.

i really wish overwatch had been an rpg shooter/looter, along the lines of borderlands, not the team fight pvp that it is :(. the characters would have been alot of fun to play/explore stories for. Only reason i never really played OW is i couldn't give two flying F's about the pvp fights i just want to explore that world lol
hanzo was ordered to murder genji. hanzo did it with a sword and after that vowed to never use a sword again that why you see him use the bow. mercy, a healer in the game found genji and brought him back to life. genji was messed up so badly that he became part robot and part human. he struggled with his new identity but eventually came to terms with it. he joined overwatch and forgave hanzo because he knew how guilty he was for killing him. he went to recruit hanzo for overwatch but realized hanzo needed more time to deal with his shit so he decided not to.
Widowmaker is French her real name is Amelie Lacroix and to answer the question "why she did is that" she married a overwatch agent named Gerald Lacroix now he was a thorn in the side of Talon so Talon kidnapped Amelie brainwashed her trained her to be the perfect assassin with no fear or remorse then the let her go and overwatch found her then with conditioning from Talon she was like a sleeper agent so when Talon flipped the switch she killed her husband against her will if she still has it also the experiments Talon did made her heart beat slower and turned her skin blue but do you remember that i said she no emotion well in the Xmas comic she is shown at her husband's grave with a bundle of Roses so she does have emotions but they don't show up much so in my mind she has a chance at Redemption although it will take a long while
late to catching this but I enjoyed watching someone who doesn't play the game enjoy the cinematics - what I hope you realize is that these locations in the cinematic like London and the Japanese Castle are playable locations and we get to play these characters with all their abilities and outfits and select voice lines. It makes the game so much more enjoyable to have them enhanced with this storytelling!
@@HannaHsOverInvested it was to kill her husband who was Overwatches #2, also they modified her body to make her a better assassin, including her heart-rate which is why her skin is blue. Apparently that has something to do with emotions too
