So sorry for the annoying silent parts😭 the copyright claim was a "shared" review, and the split was actually not shared at all. 😕 I try my best to upload my videos early to take care of any claims in editing so I don't end up muting myself, but this happened after the video was live. Apologies again, and thank you so much for watching.

@@HannaHsOverInvested , seems like that history minor you mentioned wasn't very modern... lol The first clip is WW1 France, probably near the end of the war seeing as how many American weapons there are (notably the Colt M1911 .45 ACP pistol, a distinctly American service sidearm first developed in 1904 by John Moses Browning). The Americans didn't enter WW1 until it was already coming to a close, meaning that this battle is likely somewhere from late 1915-1917. And yes, as the game said, millions died ultimately for nothing. That's partly why that generation is called the "Lost Generation". However, some of the greatest minds and people took part in the war, and helped shape their outlook on the world, such as J.R.R. Tolkien and Walt Disney.

Gamers are pretty desensitized to shooting and dying in games, which isn't a problem, it's very far from reality. But with things like WWI it's important to not dismiss the reality of life lost there. That's why I loved this intro to the game, it make you feel every death and highlights how much of it there is. It's strong enough to target jaded gamers. That's why I knew the end of the sequence was gonna hit you the hardest. I love stories of humanity in war, like the Christmas treaty. I remember when all the trailers for Battlefield 1 came out, the anti-video game crowd made a bunch of claims that it “glorified” war, or made light of how horrible WWI actually was. But the game itself does not pull many punches with how hard that war was. I think your reaction as you watched the gameplay is what they were going for. The whole story mode has you following individual soldiers and seeing how war effected them. And not every story ends well.

@@HannaHsOverInvested It is indeed a compliment! So many so called gamers and streamers recorded their reaction to the trailer and laughed in disbelief to that RPG trick in the air the soldier did, when in fact that has been a "trick shot" in Battlefield games since practically the first games. That trick is one of the "battlefield moments" the community fondly remembers and are proud of showing off if they manage to do one, because it is hard to pull off! With that moment (and many others actually) in the trailer, the devs are acknowledging the community, so the "gamers" that laughed at that part are not only showing their ignorance towards the series, they are also in a way disrespecting the community by laughing at the legendary "Rendezook" moment. You on the other hand, not being a gamer yourself, still recognized a cool moment for the sake of it being cool, and it was such a nice reaction!

"This one I'm not having as hard a time with because it hasn't happened yet" Pretty much the reason why these two games had such polarized themes. BF1 was about the horrors of WW1, quite hard to make something light hearted about it. The singleplayer campaign was also appropriately themed: several short stories centered on different characters, different places, describing the terrible hardships they went through, it's all such an emotional rollercoaster. BF3, BF4 and now BF2042 are fictional wars in the near future, so it's harder to feel bad or guilty for enjoying it. Still, I'm a bit disappointed the new one doesn't have a campaign similar to BF1 (it's just gonna be multiplayer), because the setting deserves stories being told: climate change, global conflict, economic disaster has left the world in shambles and the remaining superpowers, Russia and the US, are in conflict again over the scraps but instead of using their own professional armies they just hire the millions of refugees affected by the disasters to do their dirty work for them. The poor killing each other for the benefit of the rich and powerful.

@@queuzed thanks. I really have a hard time how so many people get it so wrong though. Like, it's not "everyone is joining the US or Russia because nations collapsed" but rather everyone is f***ed and the two remaining functional nations are profiting from it and exploiting the people who have nowhere to go. The specialists we play as don't give a damn about the US or Russia (the fact we play as then regardless of the team is fitting), they're just trying to win some time for their folks back at the floating rust bucket.

Quick note on the Christmas Truce in the First World War: Soldiers joined in singing carols, traded contraband like beer, chocolate and cigarettes, showed each other pictures of their family back home and treated each other like fellow humans. It showed human nature at its best. In some places. In other parts of the front, they started to sing, soldiers emerged under white banners from both sides; and one side opened fire as soon as the other side was vulnerable. Or one trench would throw boxes of chocolates into their enemy's ranks... and the other side threw mines and grenades. It didn't matter if you were looking at a soldier from Britain, Germany, France, Italy, etc. you could still see a respectful, decent human being... or you could see a murderous, hateful monster. People are great, sometimes. People are horrible, sometimes.

They gave you the option to eject from the jet, and if you timed it right and lined it up, you could re-enter your jet. You could also fire your weapon once ejected, as a last ditch effort to finish an enemy fighter off. Eventually players started to eject and land a shot on enemy jets which is extremely difficult. One day, a mad man was able to accomplish all 3 in one sequence creating what we now know as a rendezook. A combination of skill, creativity and good old imagination, used to create art and flat out drop our jaws. Even today in NATO missions the command is given in one country based on strategic reasson in order for all units to fought with a central command. Also the French colonys had way more black people than America and the same reasson happen with the British and thir Indian regiments. Also for the people that know nothing about the military if you are bringing people half a planet away to fight you DO NOT SEPERATE THEM. You don't mix Indians with French nor Greeks with Africans. The reasson is you lose country bonds. For a mission or two is fine but all of the will going to die before their brothery love surface and become combat effective and hardent.

Playing the campaign for Battlefield 1 was one of my favorite BF experiences. The grit was intense, and you were given a true sense of the terror felt by those in the field. There were heart-wrenching moments, and moments of triumph. There is even a sequence in one level where you play as a messenger pigeon sent to request an artillery strike to save your human avatar.

20:00 yes. It is showcasing different “maps” or “environments” because playing a tactical shooter game like this requires tactics. the element of the unknown and random is what keeps it exiting. playing on a single environment, the players would learn everything to the point it would be boring. Because they know all the ins and outs. And flanking your enemy. getting behind them for an advantage, Is a very real thing, both in game and for real. So lots of big wide destructible environments to play in, keeps it interesting, (battlefield games specialise in making all objects in a game destroyable) Opening up new tactics for attacking and defending. As they say in battlefield=Who needs a door when you can make your own. Or “you dont call an airstrike, you are the airstrike” It also has a lot of vehicular combat, with tanks, jets, helicopters, jeeps and ATVs meaning you could strap C4 explosives to an ATV, And send it flying towards an enemy tank With different classes and all these vehicles. Along with destructive environments. Oh and as you can see. Environments also affected by weather. Its a battlefield. making your team working together to win is all the more important. battlefield. Is mastery of the chaos. Being able to do your chosen job without being distracted by everything. That is what a soldier does in battlefield.

A lot of the soldiers that participated in war came back broken and pessimistic. They rarely show it, but that is the sad fact that soldiers are either stubborn to admit the hurting from everything they experienced or they're afraid to lose what they have accomplished in the eyes of their superiors. The worst thing is that after WW1, soldier were cast aside in society. They couldn't get any help, workplaces rejected veterans and even placed signs to say they don't accept them. The people couldn't empathize with them, as they couldn't grasp the horrors that they had to endure and the only solemn they could get is with the same soldiers they fought side by side. This is why the people who lived during that time came to be known as "The Lost Generation".

Nothing wrong with being a marshmallow, of course. And the videos did a solid job in recreating a sheer overwhelm that a soldier on a modern battlefield can experience, even if they went a bit over the top in depicting violence ( a more muted version would have packed an even bigger punch because it would have been even more realistic). As a suggestion for completely stress free and hype war related game trailer, I'd love to see your reaction to the Metal Slug Tactics. Atomic Heart would be a good choice if you are ever in the mood for something extremely weird but at the same time very intringuing. That game has a lot of trailers out, including a very recent one featuring a banger music track.

I cried during the beginning of Battlefield 1, I think a lot of people felt that way, it's how your supposed to feel. Battlefield wasn't trying to glorify the war, maybe one of the first games I played that did that. There are others like it I just hadn't played them. The Stories for Battlefield 1 gave the same feeling. that war wasn't good. No war is or ever will be. When I play the game I just try to remember that. and remember it's a game, that I'm home in a country that doesn't have war. Doesn't always help though....

You should totally react to battlefield 5 : the last tiger mission. It's really another great example of anti war story telling in video games. Also I think that video games can often be capable of showing how pointless war can be (the trailer/gameplay you just watched, the last tiger mission in battlefield 5, etc.), even more than movies. Another piece of evidence why video games can be art. Edit: the last tiger mission is from the perspective of a German tank commander during the last days of world War 2 in the battle of Berlin. They also speak german to make it more immersive, so you have to rely on the subtitles I hope you react to this, because iam sure you would like it and appreciate the message within this story :)

I‘ve seen many different ones from equally different people, fathers, sons, brothers, teachers and everything in between. Seeing them describe the horrors they had to face on a daily basis always brings a tear to my eye. Millions of young men, happy and optimistic at first, humbled by the harsh and brutal truth of war, when all they fought for was basically dirt under their feet. This game really is remarkable for holding onto the true nature of war and is easily one of the best first person experiences.

So while the trailer may be extremely bombastic, the underlying narrative is very much grounded in reality.
