As an indian i can tell you that the lehenga she chose is VERY TRADITIONAL lmao it’s red, heavily embroidered and it just checks all the boxes for a traditional bridal lehenga

@@lainie193 LOL it is! Though most indian brides have two dresses, the red one for the traditional ceremony and then another colour or style for their reception, which is often not red and more modern! (often based on their colour scheme for the wedding)

@@lainie193 technical the white dress has only been around since 1840. And only became traditional when white fabric became easy to reproduce. Its not really all that traditional. Instead it more like a fad that's been perpetuated by the media.

I didn't understand why they kept going on about BRIGHT red. The traditional is red. In fact, this dark, velvety color is what many traditional, opulent weddings have. Also, in the traditional section, Manyavar, and other high-end brands, they advertise this color pretty frequently.

@Everything Of Indian Cinema. Tbh, My sister wore dark blue lehanga which was absolutely gorgeous. Man, who are you trying to cheat by saying Indians don't approve darker things? get hold of yourself and say it's in your family. My family loves dark colors, even my gran does. Black is a no of course, but there are exceptions when the bride really really likes it. Unless you grew up in a very conservative home, or if you were under the rock for all these years..then of course, maybe that's why you're too rude to someone.

I think she hates dark red because it is making her look paler. Remember, she is from a country where there is tanorexia, namely tan obsession. In the west, white people pay big money to get tan. They go away to beaches and tan themselves, cheaper than going to beauty salon and pay for using sun beds. Also, they go to hotter countries to get darker tan. When they return home, they show off their tan to friends, relations & neighbours and be boastful about it.
@raraavis7782
@raraavis7782 4 года назад
Pink Lady Ah well. The trend to be extremely tanned was more a thing 20 or 30 years ago. That’s when people really went out of their way, to get deeply tanned in summer. Nowadays most people are very much aware, how bad that is for your skin and settle for a light, ‚healthy‘ tan instead. But you also have to consider, that very light skin shows blemishes and vein issues and dark undereye circles and such, so much more than darker skin. Being light skinned and not having perfect skin, really, really sucks.

Yes go ahead and absolutely disrespect a culture. That shows on you. On how you are raised. Not on us. In India, the wedding is more about the WHOLE FAMILY. Try saying it is only for the bride (and in North, I'm sure you'd have a sandal thrown at you) or some elder will show your place. A wedding is about everyone. Black is downright disrespectful. Blasphemous. It takes the slightest amount of respect to not do something blasphemous to anyone's culture. The navy border did look completely black. Even a single dot or single thread of black on the wedding dress is a NO NO. You don't do that. She could have found a middle ground & found another red lehenga without the dark dark navy that looked black. The In laws are giving up their dreams & accepting a foreignor bride. The least you can do is show them some respect on one day! Just the day they've to show you as theirs to literally 1500 people, as their family. Just that one day can you just be nice? I think that's the least asked here.

Well, thinking of traditional families of all cultures, the easiest way for the friend to ensure the parents in law think the future daughter in law disrespects their cultural traditions, would be for the friend to say, you wear whatever you want girlfriend, its your wedding. She did not. So, the friend, being a true friend, passed on the one thing the in laws requested, a bright red dress. The friend, once she told the bride to be what the in laws wanted, could have let the issue go immediately the bride decided she did not like the bright red tone.. Also remember, the family, if they had an issue with the colours of the dress, could likely go after the friend / cousin for not getting the bride to be to pick the colour they preferred. Most interesting for me was the bride to be's comment, neither she nor her groom to be are traditional. If they have children, have they agreed what religion, if any, they will be brought up in ? And do his and her families respect that ? I wish them well.

And why do I get the impression that the friend, (groom's cousin), isn't really best pleased about the wedding happening. Is it just a cultural thing, or did she originally have her eyes set on the guy for herself ?? Also the future mother-in-law is made to sound like a complete hag ! Makes me wonder if the marriage is doomed from the beginning... Personally I should have made it clear in the nuptials ; Parents not to interfere ! The couple must be trusted to sort their life on their own. (Parents possibly know best, but sometimes a wedding calls for an overdue "cutting the umbelical cord"). 😘

“Your mom in law is going to freak out when she sees that belly”, imagine being that immature lmao. Can’t even deal with that much of skin of a young lady, while all these aunties in india have their entire belly out in sarees Btw the lehenga that the bride chose is absolutely stunning

It's a matter of the modesty quotient that the sect observes. It is not a matter of immaturity. But, it is a gorgeous dress and she looks gorgeous.

Saari is the evergreen dress. It can be worn in a sexy way and also can be worn in all body cover way. Saree is the most elegant dress which provides you thousands of way to wear. you can change the the drapping way of saree according to occasions like wedding,party, prayer, casual.

Her choice was the best one 💖 her friend looks so serious than her. Just look how happy she is. That's all what matter. Not the bloody colour of dress. You looks heavenly gorgeous my darling. My heart just dropped seen your photos of the ceremony 💖😍

I'm sorry but that was the worst acting ever. I would rather see something genuine then fake drama to make it more interesting.

Hated how the friend kept on saying "ohhh idk if your Mother in law would say" like hello, it's not the mother-in-law getting married. For the sake of God the NRI's need to step out of their conservative bubbles, as neither India nor Pakistan are like that anymore!
@mridul7639
@mridul7639 4 года назад
Yes! It's so weird to see her friend constantly mention what the mother in law wants. She's already wearing a lehenga and a red one. This level of control down to the shade is absurd, I'm glad that the bride isn't a pushover.

Glad that Jamie stuck to her guns. Ultimately, it is about the bride (who is getting married) & not about the mother-in-law. This is a marriage between a man & a woman, not the mother-in-law or the friend.🌸🌿🌈 God Bless.☘️

That friend is so useless, the dress she was pressing on for the bride to choose, it wasn't looking good on her at all, thankful that the pretty bride put her foot down and chose what she wanted.

no actually its a difference of culture becuase I am finding myself agreeing to the friend and not to the bride....most families would not like any hint of dark blue or black its a big no and i thought she really looked good in the bright colors it made her look much prettier i think the dress she chose ummm ok but not the best she tried according to me....we are used to being partial to the bright red

That girl would look great in ANY thing ! She’s so so pretty !!! But I agree you have to feel beautiful otherwise your just not going to be happy ! I love that she’s focused on whose wedding it is !!!!! And she is going to be stunning!!!!! I wish I could be 1/2 a gorgeous as her ! Best wishes and congratulations AND the DARK red couldn’t be more PERFECT!

That type of red is literally a Traditional indian wedding color. She went very traditional and the Mother in law should be very proud that a western American women is choosing to go traditional and listen to her suggestion.
