It's OK to think that they look like girls at the beginning. Tell him that they wear stage makeup. This means that they don't wear makeup in their normal lives (maybe just bbcream, but for Koreans, that's part of the skincare, not makeup) For example, they don't wear makeup at the airport and if you watch bon voyage episodes you'll notice that they are all barefaced

Dylan watching this actually gave me a whole new respect for you as a reactor and as a person in general, you gave bts a chance and never judged them. You didn’t allow things like prejudice and toxic masculinity to get in the way of actually enjoying the boys and their music. I'm perfectly fine with having different opinions with someone, as long as they disagree respectfully. I don't really have anything to say about him having respect. All he was doing was reacting to the video, but he wasn't very open minded. I have a feeling that he wasn't into it even from the beginning is because he knew from the start that it wasn't his language. And he also made a comment @ 11:51 that "If it was in English, I'm sure it would be pretty catchy." Why does that matter? Like Dylan said it doesn't matter if it's in English, and btw, alot of people are Like this when they first react to BTS or KPOP or Spanish, or French or any other language for that matter. Like the wise grandpa Yoongi once said (on the Ellen show; and I don't know exact quotes but..), "we don't connect with languages, we speak and connect with feelings and I think that's why we have so many fans with different cultures, and different languages." And that is so true. Me Personally, I fell in love with them because their songs were catchy and because they are so beautiful.😍 I am so embarrassed about this but I didn't like one of my favorite songs at first: Spring Day. I didn't think it had a good beat. But I learned the background and the sentimental meaning behind it and all of their other songs that I didn't think were that good and began to love them. And one more thing, because I know I rant alot😂, he also mentioned that they look and sound like girls. That can really hurt someone's feelings and make them dislike that particular feature about themselves. BTS is already working their asses off to become EVEN BETTER than they already are, which idk if that's even possible! That are constantly pushing themselves for hours on end trying to get better, working on productions for their songs and it's really amazing. And I didn't really find your comment very nice. But it's whatever BTS is still slayin the game so it doesn't matter💜💜💜 Also, your friend doesn't have to like Kpop because not everyone has the same taste, but he should at least be a little more open minded in my opinion.

I'm not at all surprised by Poccho taco lol. Considering I'm from the South as well. Also, BST is pretty much about how youth experiences temptation and how ones uncertainty and questioning whether or not to fall into it is growth(the process of growing). The MV was based off a book(Most of WINGS was) which is a coming of age story. I honestly think Spring Day will always be my favorite. Especially the part where when Jungkook runs through everything in panic and once he's with the rest of them, a look of relief just washes over. Beautiful. Anyway, sorry for the ramble. This is dumb but i love how at @12:00 Dylan says "It don't matter if its in English!" And that is so true. It doesn't matter if its in Spanish, Russian, English, Korean, etc. People should be more open to liking other cultures and songs, it doesn't matter if its not YOUR language. I remember almost a year ago my friend showed me BTS, and otherwise i would of NEVER gotten into Korean or any other foreign language for that matter. She just made me realize, it doesn't have to be your language or your culture or anything for you to fall in love with a band or a genre of music. People need to realize that more, be accepting and don't judge before hearing or don't make snarky comments about a genre or a group like BTS because they "Look and sound like girls" Or "Ew why they wearing makeup?" When Jin was at the head of the table and he raised his cup, everyone else followed. And when V "committed suicide" 😂 that's like how he became "the fallen Angel." Skipping to the part where they were all running, where Jin was left behind, and V followed and came up behind him. Everyone else was running because they were all under the devil's spell almost. But Jin wasn't there yet. So when V covered Jin's eyes and uncovered them, he was trying to trick he, the almighty God. So finally Jin resisted and and kissed the statue, which is metaphorically known as V or the devil. But I'm too not sure about this. Because the statue is a fallen angel and so is the devil, but V had his wings cut off. But idk point is, Jin made a deal with the devil or a demon. Then at the end, all hell broke loose, almost as if all of the good that ever existed, just vanished. And at the end (I know it wasn't put in), but Jin's face cracked. This shows that everything that he had was gone and how he lost it by making a deal with the devil. P.S. I could be wrong though. Just let me know 😊

I'm sorry I'm not going to lie it was hard for me to keep on watching after BST and I read some of the comments I agree that it wasn't the best mv's to start out with but I appreciate you trying to show your friend BTS and tell him some people that go on tv or do a mv probably has some make up on them no matter who it is and just because the pitch of your voice different or not what you expect it to sound like does not mean that the guy is a "girl" or "feminine" cause that would actually hurt someone's feelings and make them not like that feature of themselves. But What I do like is that at least he isn't faking his reaction or pretending to like them that's good thing.

OKAY, FIRST OFF THIS GUY OVER HERE THINKS HE CAN JUST COME ON CAMARA AND JUST ASK TO BE ATTACKED... I think this got the attention of people, no? Lol. Imo, he was closed off before the music was even playing. He's not comfortable because he knew it wasn't his language. Yes, he was surprised & maybe relieved there was CC, but to some, it's a bit of a distraction. The music choices may not have been the best to start him off with. It was a bit of an overload, in all aspects, & the flow of BS&T was interrupted too many times. It also seems that the genres just aren't his kind. I will never understand for the life of me how can people look at BTS and think they're girls. Yes they wear make up on this vid, yes some of them have very pretty faces (good looking and pretty males do exist), but it is still obvious to me they are male, just very good looking males, but they don't have women bodies nor are they dressed as women and even though they have pretty faces they still look masculine to me. I guess men have a harder time telling the difference maybe cuz they're not used to finding other males attractive? lol

The problem with his attitude is that he is ethniocentric. Ethnocentrism is when you view your own culture, nationality, and perspective as “normal” and right and every other culture as wrong, different, or less than your own. Its a superiority thing. His comments about “wierd”, unmanly, and other thibgs like this show that. Dylan tried to put it in perspective by explaining Korean culture but the dude reacting wasnt listening or taking it in. You cant judge another cultures art by the criteria of your own culture. That elevates your own culture as superior to the culture the art you are critiqing. I should know as I teach art history. Objectively you can see the quality of the music, the talent, the time, the effort, and the skill that goes into these productions. Not everyone likes the same music, but not liking it because from your stance they look like girls or its “wierd” is xenophobic. You need some international mindedness lessons. Its ok though cause we are all ona journey to learning more.

BST is a lot to drop on a dude who is not incredibly secure. Also the video is confusing for everyone the first time. If you thought he might like the music you could have shown him the Japanese version of BST. Spring Day is a very emotional song, and a dude who is not secure with his sexuality is definitely not gonna be in touch with his feelings. Based on what I saw of his personality probably Fire or Mic Drop would be a good choice.
