A cracking compilation from the archives there Alan and as mentioned, more interesting by the more imaginative viewpoints in some shots...... And, you didn't even have to go out for this one eh!!! Regards, Brian.
Much enjoyed from start to finish, thanks Alan. These sequences certainly do bear repeating in such an excellent compilation. The TPO is always exciting to watch. Kind regards, Bob.
Thank you Bob. I have only filmed the actual changeover once but Oliver Cromwell was so late that it resulted in a silhouette shot although I don't feel that it lost anything for that. Apart from that one I prefer to go for the sound and effect away from the crowds. Kind regards Alan
Is there not a 40km/h / 25mph cap on heritage line speeds? I'm guessing the GCR got a special dispensation for these runs? It's really wonderful to see these and great footage as usual Mr Parr
The GC normally operates with a 25mph limit but having been built to mainline standards they can go quicker, maybe some body in the know will say at what. They do carry out tests at speed for mainline companies, a few months ago a Northern train was on test and parked in Quorn yard at weekends.
