Some things Bricky didn't mention: Nurgle is also about rebirth and cycles. Once something dies and rots, it breeds new life such as diseases, maggots, and other things of that nature. Nurgle and his followers see his diseases as gifts. He's also referred to as Grandfather as well as he actually does genuinely love his followers and none of them can actually feel pain. Also, my man, your laugh is contagious and its always awesome to see newcomers who want to learn more about the world and it's factions

Tau are not that nice. They are heavily divided into casts - to the point of genetic drift into subspecies. Also all those alien races? Sure, they are part of their Empire... But even lower than all casts. Tau is not above manipulating other races. Tau is not above using them as cannon fodder. Tau meeting new race is like "Hello! We bring you Greater Good! Do not resist!" They met a race of insect people who they were not able to talk with - oh, why not construct helmets to override their minds to communicate with them? What do you mean we just brainwash them like that? They are our friends now!

When it comes to minis, my personal fav is Angron's newest model. He's the Primarch of the World Eaters legion and they fell to Khorne. Angron's story is also one of my favorites. Such a tragic tale that could've been avoided if the Emperor was a better father lol. World Eater models fairly recently got updates and look way cooler than before. Angron's model is just * chef's kiss* Side tangent: Bricky kinda messed up his description of Angron. For context, all the primarchs were scattered as children and landed on different worlds. And Angron landed on Nuceria, a planet of basically a more advanced Rome. Angron was captured by slavers and was forced to fight in gladiatorial combat. When he refused to duel his only father figure in his life at this point, his masters implanted the "butcher's nails" into his brain which meant that he would feel constant pain if he felt any emotion other than anger. His sanity was shattered and the nails would basically give him a "high" every time he was slaughtering something. So combat was his only real escape from the pain

One thing about the Craftwold Eldar (aka Asuryani) and one of the things I find most interesting about them that wasn't mentioned here about the is how their society is structured around the Path system. Each Eldar society is defined by how they avoid Slaanesh, and the Craftworlders do it by each choosing a role (called a path) in their Craftworld and dedicating themselves fully to its mastery before moving on to another to ward off temptation. Many of the Craftworld units and characters are defined by the paths they have previously walked, Warlocks for example (the eldar mages shown in a bunch of the art) have to have walked the path of the warrior and the Seer before becoming a warlock.

Thousand Sons (K-sons) Rubric Marines: That's the name of the chaos space Marine unit that you were interested in. A squad will run you about $65 to $70 Canadian. So about 50 to 60 American. A squad I believe contains 10 models with upgrades for lieutenants and/or sorcerers. Cheers. -Alpharious-

Trazyn is great - when the whole galaxy is at war, he is like "War? What war? I'm building a museum here!" He is the collector of the most awesome and weird stuff. He has Krorks, he has pieces of Necrontyr (most likely - his own) flesh, has whole units of Space Marines, Guard, some Custodes, Perfect Clone of Primarch Fulgrim, Tyranid Hive "of funny size". He has a whole planet cored and turned into unending galleries of curious artifacts. He has whole scenes and battles held in temporal loops so he can observe them over and over. He is a maniac when comes to collecting and is not above using his forces to obtain some specific artifact or person. He once proposed to Imperium that he take the Golden Throne with the Emperor to his museum... Of course, Imperium said no. But he surely will love to steal it...

If you are looking to play 40k cheap, I would recommend Kill Team. It's a skirmish level game in the 40k setting using the same models, focusing on single squads instead of whole armies, meaning most factions can have a playable force with a single box of minis.

Also, the subreddit r/miniswap. At its worst, it is the same price as the stuff you find on ebay, but I trust the sellers on the sub way more than ebay sellers. At best, you can get some steals off of there. Lots of members have a deep and broad bits bin or a huge pile of shame they are willing to part with.

Harlequins are much more than "killer clowns" - they are bards of Eldars, keepers of stories, and artists. They see the world as a stage and play. Especially battle - they treat it as theatre - filling every move, shot, or stab with as many meanings and theatrics as possible. Cuts of swords on enemy bodies turn them into artistic "flowers", the last line of the poem is recited to the face of the dying enemy, a song sung in the rhythm of a heart freshly cut from the enemy. All connected to Eldar history and myth. The most dangerous act is the story of the Fall. Because that means one who will play the role of Slaanesh. That puts that Harlequin on verge of calling actual chaotic demons onto the battle. Because of that they are both avoided and revered - called Solitaires. There are only a few of them and stories say they are on par with human Primarchs when comes to fighting, and their minds are so fortified mentally against Chaos and Warp, they are "blank-like".

I highly suggest you check more videos on the orks. 40k orks are one of the most beloved races by the fanbase due to their sheer insanity. If you want some lore on one specific ork, I either suggest a vid on Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thrakka "The Prophet of Gork and Mork" or the vid on Tuska Daemon Killa by Arch. Both are rather infamous orks, especially the former

Something ill say about orks is that its probably the best fun you can have playing Warhammer. Ive been collecting them for a few years now and have almost 300 models. My favourite aspect has to be using multiple different model kits to make customised models that add a huge personal flair to my army. Orks gives you alot of freedom in terms of playstyle and building the models
@robling1937
@robling1937 Месяц назад
I think Orks are the easiest to kit bash, because the "thrown together" look is on brand for the faction. I love this, because people with a decent sized Ork army are usually packed with those custom characters, troops, and vehicles. Orks are my favorite faction to see other people's armies for.

One way to get a cheap army sometimes is people will sell whole armies they don’t play anymore on eBay. If you don’t like the paint scheme you can just paint over it.

He's actually wrong about the Starcraft thing (well high chances to be fair). Long story short Warcraft was supposed to be a Warhammer Fantasy game but both companies where not really feeling it, so it fell through. Internet problem with Starcraft is, there are interviews you can find sighting one of Blizzard's co-founders stating this was the case. In StarCraft's case it's all hearsay. Plus, the 2 games were released 4 years apart and Blizzard's team wasn't cool with just making someone else's IP anyways so why would they just agree to the same mess again? So bit of unfounded rumor at this point. At least to me. Regardless I do think they were.... inspired by 40k let's say. Still a good game. Well until Star Craft 2 Legacy of the Void expansion where the plot goes wonky, but I don't like late franchise Blizzard writing.

"Expensive" is a really subjective thing. If you would buy whole army that is worth 2000points on table top (units, vehicles, characters,.... all have value in points. generaly stronger ones are worth more points and weaker ones less. that is a way the armies are balanced. opponents would agree on fighting cca 500v500, 1000v1000,.... and its up to them how they spend those points) all at once, it is going to be very expensive. But thats not the way most people do this. I have been collecting my 2 armies (Alpha Legion for chaos and Death Spectres for loyalist space marines) for several years now, i usually buy one box every one or two months and than spend weeks custommising every model in a squad and when its spread like this it is not bad. Most hobbies take some investment and i even spend more money on PC games and cigarettes than on Warhammer. And after like 3-4 years i have 2 solid 1500 points armies, 1 kill team and several display pieces

As someone else said. If you want to dip your toe into the 40k hobby, then I highly recommend starting with 1 model you just love for whatever reason, and paint that. Pick it based on ‘the rule of cool’ and what you are drawn to. If you find you enjoy the process and want to improve and do more, then give ‘Kill Team’ a go. It’s a small squad v squad skirmish game rather the army v army scale of 40k proper. You can have a full kill team to play with from one box of 5-10 individual models. The KT models can all be used in 40k proper too.

I'd love to see you react to Luetin09's "ORKS - WAR IS HELL" here on youtube for some more insight to orks in this setting. Also give Warrior Tier's "Ogryn story" a watch. It's story from an Ogryn's perspective who are a subspecies of large humans that have the mental capacity of children, but are intensely loyal to protecting regular humans around them. It's really short, really well done and most people reacting to it can't help to me moved.

So to put it into the layman’s terms, in the warp it is absolutely and completely irrelevant and yet it is still relevant by its name and definition (CHAOS) or the realm of chaos where a single step in the warp could either result in you taking a normal step in real world space and time or it could result in you say taking a hundred or a thousand years into the past or future or even to the point where what was for you a single step wouldn’t be happened an entire century would have passed by in a blink of an eye, all the while it’s denizens are equivalent to say fish where a shark may be one of the top predators in the ocean and are nightmare fuel, but a shark can only live for so long on land and the same principles apply to the creatures of the warp where yes they have the power to alter reality or physics to their whims to the point where it looks more like magic than anything else but is in reality the complete and utter collapse of reality itself, laws have no values, time has no purposes and space has no place. But as powerful as they are, demons or sharks in this case are only able to survive outside the sea of souls by transplanting themselves into a living vessel via possession who unfortunately ends up as a sort of living aquarium for said shark

Craftworld Eldar has something called "soulstones" - basically a trap for the soul. In case of death, it catches the soul of Eldar just before Slaanesh can eat it. It's the worst insult and horrifying for the Eldars to destroy soulstone with the soul inside. There is a limited source of soulstones on some planets in Eye of Terror - so not only there is little of them, but gathering more is literally - hellish dangerous. Then those souls are collected in Infinity Circuits on Craftworlds. Those are like a "makeshift afterlife" for them - they sometimes serve with advice to the living. In the worst-case scenario, those souls can be put into battle machines called Wrights (mostly walkers and spaceships) - but it is seen as basically insulting the dead, and Eldar souls themselves feel trapped inside those.

Some context about the dark eldar and the orks: 1. The dark eldar aren't necessarily forced to commit their horrific acts. You see the eldar have these devices called a soul stones and while i don't know the details, i know that it keeps eldar souls from being devoured by slaneesh. Due to this, it can be easily assumed that the dark eldar commit their horrific acts simply for their own amusement and indulgment with their senses. Its basically like an addictive drug to them, which is why that if there is any faction in 40k i have no sympathy/respect for, its the dark eldar. As for the orks: Since didn't really make it clear, orks have the power of orkish belief where if enough orks believe in something, it comes true, though it only works to certain degree. This why chaos daemons are scared of orks, because when an ork defeats them, the orks believe they're gone for good, so they are. Also, i heard that if you defeat a daemon that's currently in the warp, they're also permanently gone.

In some ways I'd even argue that it's MORE interesting. The much smaller scale, and the greater variety of alignment makes for much more interesting stories. It's no longer "everyone is mega-evil, choose how evil you wanna be," instead there are plenty of factions doing evil or at least very questionable things for pretty understandable reasons. And the fact that it's all set on a single not-Earth planet (with a donut) means that there can be much more of a focus on characters, especially those who might get overlooked. Also, Fantasy has dinosaur super-soldiers riding other dinosaurs armed with solar cannons, under the guidance of 9 billion IQ giga-brain frog wizards and dinosaur super-soldier heroes so insanely strong that they kinda just 'became' demigods. And rats. Many rats.

Your resident commission miniature painter here again, highly recommend you check out the Space Marine Legions explained video by Bricky, it'll give you more insights into the legions as a whole and their motivations in the 40k setting. Though I've painted a lot of models in the setting I absolutely enjoy the aesthetics of the World Eaters and the Space Wolves. Both are expected to get new models in the near future and have cool signature models that are fun to play in game. 59:00 The Tau segment is abit dated. Sort of. When 40k really started to gain in popularity, GW looked to the popular markets and saw a golden oppertunity to get into other markets. Anime. And with Mechs. And that started a huge problem, introducing a brand new set of multiple multiple new species in an IP over 60+ for a new major faction is hard enough. But they are incredibly.. Busted mechanically. Especially when they first came out. Their ranged capability is still the best in the game. Their shooting is arguably the best. Their mechanics are really fine tuned. But with how most battles are, battle maps and terrain. Tau players can easily make it a very easy stalemate and grind you down with their superior range. (Very in line with their lore.) But every other faction doesnt really act in this way, to the degree the Tau did. And the mechanics back then werent that great for vehicle exploits. Like say.. Placing your troop transporters above this one way up a hill, with a whole deployment of troops under it whom can use it as cover, and fire under it, but most units unable to hit it. And since they have longer range, it forces you to leave your postitions, and had to shoot their transports to destroy it. But then it'd become cover for them, and now they have another advantage against you. And another problem was. The anime/mech players are used to using busted mechanics to their advantages. And boy did they find alot of cheese and ways to manipulate the game rules and filings of rules. Especially in tourney's. And another problem. Was the huge flocks of people joining at this time to wider and wider audiances. Folks wanted to know the "meta" or best ways to win. And the Tau had a huge win percentage, at some points being in the high 70's. So outta every 10 games with tau. They won roughly 7/8 games. And that had more people buy more models and copy other Tau players. And it compounded the issues worst. That.. And Drukari. They also attracted min maxers and meta players for their obscene damage output and mobility. Able to wipe out 10/40 models a single turn and leave most opponents zones of fire, so they cant fire, or move forward to engage. And had huge 70% win rates. And everyone was suffering and just outright forfeiting against them so they never had to play against Tau and Drukari. And boy. The Tau problems dont stop, they have had alot of issues. And alot of nerfs would come in. But still are very busted in the right hands. And they are still such pains to fight against. My local comic store n 40k shop, refuse to host Tau players, mostly certain players. Because they had unbroken streaks of dominating and they lost alot of business of players who got crushed and never came play at their stores. New players.wouldnt buy stuff because Tau just crushed everyone. And they never had models for Tau for the Tau players would win tourneys and use the prize moneys to buy all the Tau models so they didnt have to go against other Tau players. And many Tau players have such bitter rivalry's and ego's. Many hate each other more then most, which was really wild. And yet they worked together to ensure no one would mess with their dominations And would price gouge folks who wanna get Tau models, for profit. Too this day Tau is still widely dispised by many. And the Lore is trying to make them even more Grim Dark, and more evil. But they're the lowest selling products in their collections and so many people hate them. And whem tourneys do Tau, record low attenders and audiances. Theres also been some allegations of some Tau players (never found out if true) of some tau players who were child predators n groomers, and other bad things. And some players knew this, but helped hide it or denied it or something. Very nasty stuff all of it

38:00 The Harlequins are.. very bizarre. They're probably the most honest and fore telling beings in 40k. And probably some of the most experienced, well versed in history. And some of their oldest members are from the original beginnings of the Eldars beginning. Their "leader" can remember when they were first created into existance onto their homeworlds. How the Eldar looked to the night sky and created their Gods. Yes created their own Gods. And could actively talk to them, and their gods could come from warp and into reality before they became more powerful. And would dance with the Eldar around bon fires, conduct music, help women give birth safely, heal the dying to full health. But even then, afterwords. The gods still would keep with their creators, and if you prayed enough, and thought hard of the gods. You could talk to them fro the mortal realm. Or go into the warp and talk to them. Or do actions of say.. practice sword fighting in the name of Khaine, the God of war and killing. Or fucking/breeding with one goddess, creating stuff by hand for another god. Etc etc. And that psychic feedback made their gods stronger. And this "leader" supposedly saw it all. (I dont know if its canon anymore. Its 40k. And GW) But the Harlequins are made up of both kinds of Eldar. Dark and other kinds. Accepting all members of their species and are the remaining bits of the good and bad of their species. Really cool stuff. But theres not much of them- But they have actively helped the Imperium forces on many times in many, many books and games. And the Harelquins seem to hold the Imperium as the last hope for the Galaxy. Which is so cool

22:00 The Eldar had things at a perfect zion. They had reality machines connected to the warp, it was slowly becoming more and more turbulent over the 60 million years in which they inhabitated in the galaxy. These reality machines could make.. Anything. Any kind of food in great abundance, to any kind of food. Anything you could ever dream of. Any kind of drink. And was basically a machine of various sizes, and could be used by the Eldar with pretty ease, you can make yourself your ideal version of a coffee and breakfast, eat at your leisure, and the remaining bits you don't eat, ya can toss, save for later, chuck it back into the warp. Whatever! But typically the bigger machines were manned by a caste of eldar called "Singers" who could connect to the warp and machines, and with song attuned to their creations being made. Would sound like.. Singing a meloldy and could make. Literally anything. From armies of near sentient machines (Which they typical dont, as they can be hacked by the Necrons, to chaos influence.) All manner of war material and machines, weapons and armour. To food.. clothing. Musical equipment.. Anything. With a strong enough will and imagination. Anything was possible. And so you could do.. anything. There was no requirements for anything. No work. You can pursue.. anything. Making art of any kind, statues, poems, music.. To manually growing crops and studying history, philosophy, to observing primative cultures and beings around the galaxy. To practicing martial arts, melee weapons to ranged, training your psychic might and powers. Or going on literal soul journeys. The Eldar at this point could literally.. bring themselves into the warp. Typically detaching and shedding their bodies behind, to travel into the warp. To see someones true soul in the most honest and intimate ways we would percieve. It was a sacred thing to pair off with someone, shed your mortal coils and travel the warp, and often come back with brand new bodies or mixtures of your former bodies, and often taking aspects of your own soul, and combine them into a child. And make one. Yes literally. Build a bear style build your own offspring. But granted they prefered to make it the old fashioned way, because most Eldar souls werent that powerful to create brand new life like that. But yes. They could go into the warp and make/shift their bodies into any style and design they wanted, like it was simply changing outfits. And often at times, never bothered wearing clothes because it was seen as too.. material and disposable.. At first. But over time. They needed new distractions. They needed ways to entertain themselves. To make the finest fashions and materials for them, to match bodies. To be living works of art, to have clothes that if walking in an elegant manner.. make music and share a story of their past. Or other kinds of crap. Then the evil stuff happened. You know those weirdo's who like being choked n beaten for intimacy purposes? Imagine that with ever darkening and depraved and torture of that. Where it ended with your body being killed at the height of your pain. Your soul ripped from your body and then coming right back to engage in a sick makabe feast of cannibalism and or necrophilia. And other horrible crap I wish I was making up. But near the end of the Eldar's supremacy, the Warp was violently shifting like a sea raging. People who died.. would get sucked in the warp and disappear. Travel into the warp was so tough and dangerous, most Eldar couldnt travel into the warp anymore. What most Eldar had been able to do over near 60 million years. Suddenly denied. And stuck in one form. And then Slannesh. Horrible. Absolutely Horrible. Its truly a travesty and tragedy.

8:44 Another reason why Humans may worship Chaos. Humans across a million worlds have wildly different view points of life on their worlds, cultures which epitimize certain values over others. But generally most human life is about suffering and enduring.. Mostly. Theres all manner of planets in the Imperium, from the various types of deserts. Savannah, scorching hot or freezing deserts with little foilage/life. And various other sub catagories. Ocean worlds, swamp worlds, planets whos entire ecosystem is ruined by industry and toxic pollution from industry, to worlds just like earth is as now. And so human suffering changes wildly. But if there is suffering. Chaos spreads. In planets consumed by conflict, suffering of the innocent. Of being forced into a war to kill, empowers khorne. The death and decay and twisting of life from it, powers nurgle. War is about change of tactics, information, spying and secrecy, infiltration and sabotage. Juices up Tzeench. Soldiers looking for relief of the stresses, to enjoy food and drinks, to over binging of alcohol or engaging in cannibalism to survive, to.. R word that ryhmes with grape, enemy combatamts or civilians or torturing either or. Or horribly depressed from all of this. Slannesh enjoys the trickling sensations. Suffering is all over in the Imperium. Most of the populace 90% probably dont know how to read or write well, if at all, most are kept in squallor conditions, poverty and hunger. Working long shifts in factories or food, construction, soldiery, sanitary, medical industry, child rearing.. And most are worked for as long as is capable, with plenty of riots and rebellions across the Imperium against these tyranntical systems in place over them. The Imperium is probably spending 60% of most of its forces surpressing rebellions across the Imperium at various points in various ways. It spends most of its time and energy struggling to stay afloat but is slowly drowning. Theres all manner of reasons, pretty much any idea you can come up with for human suffering is happening in 40k in the Imperium. And chaos is always seeking new followers and victims.

Cegorath.. One of the very weirdest and yet niftiest ideas of a deity. He was one of the happiest of the Eldar Pantheon, was more on tricks and jokes and the representation of happiness. But after the Eldar were broken. And all other Eldar gods killed and absorbed by the Chaos gods. Or captured by them and held hostage. Cegortath laughed. And kept laughing. He somehow knew this day would come and no one would listen to him. Thinking he was just a mad hatter, but he quite literally had the last laugh. But still cares deeply of the Eldar. And often holds literal gambling competitions with Slannesh with elder souls as currency, in all kinds of ways. And seemingly, mostly wins. And saves many Eldar souls from certain death. And they in turn become harlequins. And supposedly he's schemeing of a way to free one Eldar Goddess trapped by Slannesh, in Slannesh's personal pleasure palace in the 8th/9th circle.
