NON WOOTING KEYBOARDS ARE A WASTE OF TIME

At some point I stopped using my wooting60he and went down the rapid trigger gaming keyboard rabbithole. These cheap hall effect keyboards are not BAD but simply not worth considering if you have a wooting. Some minor things, software is really buggy with razer, polar65 typing angle was weird, KB65he rapid trigger made me so much worse at fortnite
My personal rankings are prob Wooting wooting.io/wooting-60he

I have been saying this. The whole reason these keyboard exist is the idea of perfection, and so far the Wooting has been the only one to do it. I do hope the Lamzu Pro and Boog75 are close, as I would love to swap to the Boog75 because it is much like a custom keyboard with the benefits the Wooting.

Yeah, after doing research, and quickly going through a couple of keyboards that really weren't that good, I found the Wooting Two HE, and that's the only keyboard (along with Wooting in general) I consider worth a premium price. If you want cheap, get a keyboard that's upwards of $20, but if you want the best, it's only 10x more price, which is quite reasonable for this absurd market, for a keyboard that will last until keyboards as a technology are obsolete. It's the only keyboard I care about at all.

I'll preface this by saying I own two 60HEs. The limiting factor on most of these boards is firmware/software, and that can be easily fixed; they PCBs are all nearly identical, as is anything using a Gateron KS-20 based switch. They don't have the same limitation as optical boards. Wooting has had a huge head start on developing the keyboard, but their manufacturing process still can't meet demand. The Chinese OEMs will get it down within a few revisions; we've already seen it in the custom keyboard space where they're pumping out sub-$100 boards that rival the sound and build quality of the $500 ones.

Wish they just made TKL model. I need those home, end keys. Going smaller than TKL doesn't save any space that matter as how full to TKL does though. I take it in time we'll see it. But cool we're seeing new models over time. Also, what I dislike in more premium keyboards is gasket mount, feels cheap and just horrible to me, wish it was optional. What would also be awesome is to see switch options with lower total travel and improved cap stabilization retaining MX design.

I just installed the Gateron Jade switches (110pcs) last weekend in my otherwise stock Wooting Two HE. They´re lighter and have around 0.5mm less travel, but they sound way better thanks to the closed bottom and they come pre-lubed. They feel like they actuate faster at below 1mm travel, but that might just be the lighter springs that make it feel that way.

I got SS apex tkl 2023, wooting 60he, endgame kb65he, and vgn atk 75. Overall I prefer the atk75 over the wooting since the 60% layout is a bit of pain to use, and atk performance does get close. The problem with steelseries is their switches are very wobbly, I can’t use cherry profile keycaps without problems, gotta stick to oem profile caps which has fewer options. Endgame board imo is garbage, I’m still waiting for the boog 75 to arrive, which I heard share the same core with vgn atk series board (which is a good thing). To be honest, Polar65 (or other keyboards using same boards - Highgrounds, EGG KB65HE, ATK68 and I have a feeling that Lamzu's new keyboard might be the same) is not HE board that I'd recommend because of one thing - if you want to have a rapid trigger on a key with pretty low actuation point (for example 2mm), you are screwed because while you can set it to reset on 0.1mm lift off (or 0.2 depending on firmware), the next actuation is again 2mm, so you either have to have very short initial actuation or live with the fact that you can't really spam one key in same way as you can do on Wooting, Drunkdeer, Akko Mod007B HE or even Redragon M61 (I'd actually recommend Redragon over Polar65 for pure performance even though Polar65 feels much more robust), it kind of defeats half of the purpose of rapid trigger (we can argue that in most games immediate deactuation is more important than fast re-actuation of the same key but still, I don't understand why it is done that way). I'm still waiting for few other HE keyboards to test (I have preoredered Keychron Q1 HE and Meletrix Boog75) but so far Polar65 is the most underwhelming from the ones I've tested in terms of potential of HE switches vs what it actually delivers.

I really hope Akko and Keychron offer some cheaper HE boards in the near future. I dont see myself spending 220$ for the Q1 HE or 210 Euro for the MOD007 when Im only ever going to use the dang thing in wired mode. With all the HE boards already being super pricey because its the latest and greatest, I really dont get why the these big players decided to only offer the top of the line wireless variants first instead of sweeping the market from all of the smaller companies like Drunkdeer and whatnot with an actual competitor priced more reasonably.

The reason is down below in the comments someone happy to throw $1k any number of times at a collection of custom keyboards all of which have functional defects like switches that are so poorly made they must be disassembled and fixed by the customer, rgb that is non-functional because the LEDs are south facing, and software that looks like it was written by a grade school class in the 1980s. That's the keyboard hobby in a nutshell.

Viper V2 Pro+Tiger ice glider, I need pad with High stop power and medium\medium-high static friction, preferably white, but black is also possible I was looking at the Saturn pro, but it looks like it has too little static friction, and it's more suitable for mixed gaming, because In valorant, we just need to hold the corners and produce clear, hard, straight flicks, without tracking, because of this most valo pros still use old pads such as QCK Heavy and Zowie G-SR, but I'd like to choose something more modern, you don't know what might be suitable in this case Thanks in advance!

I have been using the Polar 65 for about two weeks and it is a great out of the box option. Having an all aluminum case included as standard really goes a long way for the overall sound, feel, and look of the keyboard. The actuation point modification per switch is a bit tricky at first but once you get a grasp of the interface it's easy to adjust on the fly. I have been hitting superglides in Apex with about 80%-90% consistency after getting the settings dialed in. And hopefully Arbiter will be coming out with software soon for easier setup. performance doesn't live up to the egg hype because this board wasn't built in house, they outsourced that pcb from the same factory in china that supplies basically every 65% HE board on the market today which is why the performance is virtually identical between all of em according to a wooting employee these boards use an all in one hallsensor/led ic to cut cost and probably a cheaper mcu as well, combine that with basic generic firmware and you have the recipe for a whole lot of mid......im sure eventually China will refine the tech and firmware and it'll be more on par with wooting but for now they're just trying to capitalize on the HE goldrush

What was quite shocking to me is that the build quality of the ATK68 (and from what I’ve seen the Endgame too) is much much better than the 60HE, a far better sound and switches as well. The switches are the KS-37B Dual Rail switches compared to the Lekkers’ Single Rail. They have tighter tolerances and because of their dual rails; less stem wobble. Yes, the 60HE is still better for €189,99 but for €80 cheaper the ATK68 is almost there. I hope to see a thorough latency test of the ATK soon, maybe RTings will. 🤷‍♂️

There's a vietnamese youtuber who tested the ATK68 against wooting 60HE and it came out as ~1.5ms slower on actuation and ~3ms slower on release which imo seems really solid for the price. If they update the firmware to allow for the smart speed x function which is supposed to be the equivalent of tachyon mode it might even match it but who knows.

the features are there, but the implementation sucks ass. not just about latency (which isnt great either)
@mimp8365
@mimp8365 5 месяцев назад
@@itounobue1 If what you’re saying is accurate, Wooting’s only pros are the 4 year warranty and analog/gamepad remapping which wouldn’t be worth the €80 more for most I presume.
@mimp8365
@mimp8365 5 месяцев назад
@@wnnd6 Can you elaborate on that? What hindered you with the implementation?
@itounobue1
@itounobue1 5 месяцев назад
@@mimp8365 Yeah it really depends on how much money youre willing to spend and how much you care about customization. Wooting being a standard 60% makes it fit basically any case on the market and youre also able to choose your switches e.g. gateron jades ks-20 orange/white or raptor he. Those dont work on boards with ks-37s as they dont have the additional middle stem that pops into the pcb.

Im waiting for the 80he. Assuming I can find an aluminum case to transplant it into. Even if you are a sound freak the wooting 60he is very moddable. you dont even have to sacrafice sound and feel

I know the wooting is the best. but I'm just happy with my apex pro I bought a couple years ago. I barely hear the sound anyways cuz I'm on IEM, and the switches feel very smooth. Maybe I'll upgrade to wooting but I can't be asked ever since Steelseries added rapid trigger.

kind of need more explanation on why the polar65 is less performing than the wooting
@lazarosminas5000
@lazarosminas5000 Месяц назад
they perform the same. We are talking < 20 m/s here in latency/performance difference. The human brain can can only differentiate degraded performance differences between 75-100 m/s. This is clearly a placebo effect.

The Wooting is extremely overrated. The differences are negligible. You can get a Steelseries Apex Pro TKL for like 50$ on the used markets. Polar 65 out of the box is ten times superior, with the sound and feeling. The Wooting is ONLY worth it if you are going to customize it a ton. Other than that save your money. I gladly sold mine for 300$ lol.

Boardzy telling them the truth they dont want to hear. All these OEM brands suddenly putting out "Rapid Trigger" as their main selling point quickly fooled the market.

Wooting has the best implementation, but for some people, it is not only those few ms that matter. I would argue that some stock Wooting copies such as the EGG one are much nicer and don't require as many mods as the Wooting. I spent 300 EUR on the Wooting to be like the EGG feel and look-wise. But the EGG only cost me 150EUR. So it all comes down to what you value more and what your budget is. At the end of the day, good non-HE keyboards are still perfect.

Can’t say “perfect” which is an objective term and then “what you value more” which is subjective. Very much contradictory…

Anothrr important point fornthe wooting is that it doesnt need any obnoxious, bloated software that even has to be active like the apex or the razer. Configure it using a website and done.

I'll buy a wooting if they make a 65% or 75% but im very close to buying the egg kb65e im in the egg discord and they did mention they're working on the firmware for a release latency update so if they manage that it'll be huge since stock it sounds better
