NONFAN vs. FAN reacts to *PERCY JACKSON: The Lightning Thief* First Time Watching 

With the new Percy Jackson and the Olympians series hitting Disney Plus, I figured I would go back and re-watch the original movies. BUT FIRST... I should start by saying that I LOVE Rick Riordan's Tres Navarre series.

The car they stole in Vegas was a Masarati. What is the emblem of Masarati? A trident. Very fitting.

Fun Fact: Alexandra Daddario (Annabeth) has a younger brother who starred in the Shadowhunters series. He plays the character of Alec.

I have always loved Mythology stories. I took Latin ( language course ) in the 9th grade and whenever our teach was out, we had a older teacher as a substituted, The Substitute almost never went over language skills, but instead just told us mythology stories.. it was great. In my 10th or 11th grade year, I had that teacher again, but as a French teacher....so we got far fewer mythology stories.. LOL

Another Fun Fact: the dance routine that Grover does in Vegas is actually the dance choreography that is used in the Men in Black music video. Exactly the same choreography. There's an extended scene that shows Grover doing the whole dance sequence and it's move for move what Will Smith and the dancers do in the Men in Black video.

Awesome movie 🤩🍿 I used to watch this a lot as a kid 27:28 3 years ago I went to Vegas for the first time when I was 19, I had a blast. I’m trying to go back now that I’m an Adult. You two are the Best 😊

Fun fact:the author rick riordan hated this movie so much he refused to watch it tbf tho they hired him for consultation on the movie but didn’t take his advice on how to make it better😅

I don't understand why so many people hated these movies so much, they're pretty good imo(I've never read the books so I have no frame of reference).

Also really feel like there should be an animated show for the series because there would be more episodes. And kinda want to see the viria fan art for Percy Jackson used in a animated series.

2:59 Magy, you summarized greek gods perfectly. 4:11 the world record is 24 mins and 37 seconds - that is freakishly impressive! His mom's boyfriend is a real charmer. Obviously, it's explained later in the movie and she did it for a good reason but still, that first impression really ticks you off. Pierce Brosnan as Chiron was a surprising choice but damn, that man can play a centaur. Percy's mom throughout the movie - "I can't go in there" - dies - comes back to life - "I can't go in there" 😂 11:31 - settle down, monitor destroyer 😂 Percy sees Annabeth the first time - turns out the camp ain't so bad after all! Uma Thurman as Medusa - not a bad way to go at all. Persephone knocking Hades unconscious was hilarious - hell hath no fury like a woman scorned! Magy showing us her Percy Jackson books collection and a surprise Asi appearance?! @Magic Magy 45:22 I remember reading books 📖 so soooo long ago. Good memories! If I remember correctly there are 5 parts of the original series and also there are more Parts (kinda like worldbuilding with Iron-Man and then Avengers).

I remember having to read the book in middle school for summer reading, which was when this series was in its hype.However, I never really got into it, since I grew up with greater works, like The Lord of the Rings, The Chronicles of Narnia, and Harry Potter. Once you get into the Inklings, most other fantasy writers don't even compare.

Actually, is was the hope that this would become the "new Harry Potter" when it was released. It didn't quite fo as well, but it was good enough to earn one sequel. Then there was just no interest after that. Far too many changes to the source material. Hollywood tried as well with The Mortal Instruments. It wasn't liked all that much. But when they made the show: Shadowhunters it was a bit better. The series has I think 4 seasons.

⁠​⁠hey ok so i kinda wanted to discus for a second the casting of the show. So first i defiantly read the books. I Imagine how they look and everything ect. So yes when it comes to casting as long as the person embodies the character we loved them. So the race isn’t a big deal, matter affect changing it can be very cool and inspiring. Like zendaya being MJ in the MCU is cool as shit. And so is seeing the actress from the Toby Maguire playing the comic version redhead MJ. It’s beautiful as hell to see the fantasy you’ve seen or read in a book brought to screen. It’s an amazing experience. Both takes are great. You can fall in love with a non book accuracy depiction and also fall in love with a book accuracy version. So it shouldn’t be either or. It should be having both versions. Accuracy version brings what they read in the book brought to life. And the non accuracy brings in a different but equally lovable experience. Like i think we will definitely fall in love with this group in this show. But because of the unique character descriptions in the book/fan art by viria, i would really like to see another version with them animated. Like annabeth stormy gray eyes, blond hair and the gray streak of hair from atlas is really cool. And then Percy’s black hair, sea green eyes and the gray streak of hair from atlas. It’s too good! I really want to see adaption of that as well. They’re should definitely be an alternate adaption with changes to race, age or even gender. It’s unique and interesting. But I think their should also be book accuracy one for readers of the books who’ve only had images in their head for so long. It’s like what marvel did with different of avengers or spider-man plot lines. 😊😊😊😊

I thought this movie was okay and it's cool that you like the Greek gods Magy, for any more movies about to react too I would recommend "Clash of the Titans"(1981) or (2010) starring Sam Worthington, and "Immortals" starring Henry Cavill, "Troy" starring Brad Pitt and for family friendly I recommend the animated 1994 movie Hercules.

You need to watch Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters after that you need to watch Clach of Titans and Wrath of Titans with Sam Wortington if you like The God of Greece them.

I don't know about this series, but I can recommend a tv series called The Librarians starring Noah Wiley of the original Battlestar Galactica and a great TV series called Falling Skies!

I like this version better than series. Series is almost copy of this, but not as good.

Personally, I really enjoyed reading Legends and Myths of Ancient Greece, so I was very interested in watching this movie.I read the books in translation and don’t remember anything from them.

They give a very basic reason for why Percy's mother is with that one guy. Essentially Gods and other supernatural beings can recognize and/or even smell femi-gods. Since Gabe is kind of a lazy slob, Percy is hidden by Gabe's scent. He doesn't "smell" like a demi-god.
