Btw! The gods don't claim random kids, it's actually their kid but they have to claim them for it to confirmed to the other gods that that kid is theirs. Kind of like if you find a lost kid at a grocery store and the parent comes to claim them like "Oh that one is mine"😂 I'm excited to see the rest of your reactions! 💕
@@LakiaJaiTVI'm so glad you reacted to this! I didn't get to finish it I only got to I think the 5th or 6th one. Love you❤ also I like the movie better than the show but both are great 💕
@LaikaJaiTV Something funny about the books with the chimera scene, is that Percy had actually JUMPED from the Arch to the river. This was because Rick Riordan had genuinely thought that the river was closer to the arch, when it is actually at least 50 feet pr more away. That is why in the show the water grabbed him out the air, because even though he is a demigod, there is no way a 12 year old is making that jump
I think the show was pretty good. I enjoyed the ending stuff im a non book reader of Percy Jackson. I remember watching the first movie when I was little. It was really good. I gave this a 9 out of 10
As someone who read the books from middle school, I didn’t mind the show being different. I liked the changes they did in it but them explaining everything did get annoying at times. However I can understand it was for non readers and who don’t look into Greek mythology. I can’t wait for S2 & how they’ll improve it
@@maria-ie6zdit wasn’t for no reason, it was to target bigger audience, esp when the movies came out when dystopian movies with a main character who was 16 were thriving. No adults or teens would be going to see a kids movie back then
@@airetasuminaite7730and it was a shitty decision to make. also it’s crazy that even with older actors and characters they still fucked up the romance horrendously and had two pre teens do it better😭
Nah the show is not that good standing on its own. The writing is really weird and so is the production. They just tell us everything that’s happening instead of showing. Also the effects were not that good. I think it would’ve been better if it was on a different platform. Disney kinda ruined it even tho the books are disney
I was so excited seeing this and as a book reader, it's pretty great. Yes, there are flaws but I am still able to enjoy it. Hopefully, any issues they had will be fixed in season 2. The first Percy Jackson movie is a guilty pleasure of mine. It's not exactly book-accurate but it really warms my heart.
i enjoyed every single episode of the show regardless of the criticisms they might have. its a great adaptation overall so i am so happy we got a season 2!
As another non-book reader, this show is so good! It took me a few episodes before I got really into it. There are valid criticisms (like the rushed pacing), but imo it's more than made up for in character and heart🤗 I'm so invested in these children lol and the season 1 finale is awesome. I can't wait for season 2! 💕
I’ve read the books. Honestly I think the show improved on a lot of the things on the book but fell short on certain things like Percy and Luke training, and the ares fight
lmfao so as a book fan to answer some questions: 1) theyre calling percy a forbidden child cuz hes a child of the big three, zeus posiedon and hades. they made a pact many years ago that they wouldnt have any more halfblood children because they were too dangerous and powerful. (clearly it didnt work cuz none of them stuck to the pact) 2) humans cant see monsters or the fights or anything because of the mist which distorts reality to make everything seem normal to mortals
I thought it was a decent adaptation but it needs to really find its footing next season. The pacing and some of the changes they decided to make just didn't make sense at times (and make the episodes longer). I'm hoping it might have just suffered a bit under the writer's strike but maybe that's just wishful thinking
I never read the books either I only watched the movies i just finished season 1 on disney + afterwards i purchased the first book on audible i plan to get all the audio books😊
a lot of people complained about this show, and even though some complaints were valid to a certain extent, i dont think its that serious. it was good for a first season and they can build in future seasons. also fun fact the author despises the movies 😭 he said we need to normalise bad movie erasure, because for a book adaptation, they were bad
Lakia, I too have only seen the movies and never read the books, and I really liked the Percy Jackson movies too, despite what other people say about them.
Yeah my biggest complaint was how fastttt the action sequences were. The fights were over immediately and it kinda killed the suspense. Hopefully that was just a season 1 budget thing.
Did you know? there is acc two different versions of medusas storie the one where Poseidon r*pes her and Athena turns her into a gorgon ; the version where she is born into one with her two other sisters being gorgons too
Hi Lakia Jai, first let me say I love for ur videos, so funny, ur reactions r hilarious. I was wondering if you could do a tutorial on how to make movie reaction videos. From the editing, from the copyright on the movie or video, from recording yourself and the screen. It would be so great if you could.
GIRLIE I WAS WAITING FOR THIS!! didn't read the books til the show started and i got so hooked i don't even care that it wasn't that good.. lots of fun anyway
I love both the series and the movies! I feel like the series (obviously) has a more accurate portrayal of the books, and the movies just have a good early-2000’s vibe. Like if the movie wasn’t based off the books, it’d be good on its own. I was reading the first book as I was going through the first season, and I’m currently on the fourth book from the Heroes of Olympus series. But I started out as a non-reader too 😂 luckily I was able to get the first five books and read the first one before the season ended
The claiming thing is like a bastard situation. You have to be claimed so it’s official who ur parent is. Some children never find out who their parent actually is
Loved the reaction! 👍 I was wondering if you’d ever heard of the blue sky and 20th century Fox movie “Epic”? It’s seriously underrated and definitely deserves more love! I highly recommend it!
as someone who grew up having read the books then watched the movies, i’ll definitely say that the show is more accurate to the books but they have made some changes that improve what happened in the books. i did have some issues with script (annabeth’s lines in particular but that stops being a problem after episode 4 and one scene in 5). episode 5 was my favourite one. i loved the movies even though they’re barely anything like the books and logan was 17/18 instead of 12 but yeah i’m hoping it get even better in season 2. also you don’t have to have read the entire series before each season seeing as each book corresponds with a book. so you can read 1 and 2 before season 2 which i think they’re hoping to release in december this year or early next year?
This show was definitely good my only issue is that they explain everything without leaving any mystery which takes a lot of fun out of the adventure 😭
@LakiaJaiTV will you be reacting to the other half of the show? my opinion is that it gets better throughout the episodes, and it is completely different from the movie because Rick Riordan didn’t do the movie, but he did do the show!
As a non reader, i think the show did a terrible job of conveying information. It lacks tension, good pacing, interesting dynamics and character building. But i kept watching it because i find the premise very intriguing and Walker Scobell, I've seen him in other projects before and he seems a very promising actor.
in terms of book accuracy, the show is better than the movies. neither is completely the same though because it’s a book, not a screenplay, and i think some people have unrealistic expectations of how close a film adaptation can get. as a fan of the books, i think the show is really well done.
i think so too. After LOTR and Harry Potter everyone expected book-to-screen adaptations to be nearly perfect. It's hard for FANTASY books to become almost perfect shows/movies and it's very rare that it's done superbly. I read The Lightning Thief after watching this and it was super accurate. Yes, there were various problems with the show but it's still good. I even liked the ending in the show more than I did the book.
I'm a watch this in a few, but I'm happy because I'm a mythology nerd, and I love percy jackson it can't beat the original, but when will you finish desendents and sorry for the comments adhd
I'm with you on that. I liked the movies. I thought I'd be one of the "books are better" types because I usually am but I don't actually like these books. I don't hate them, they just weren't for me. edit: I cannot stand the narration though. In tv or movie format. It's visual media; show, don't tell is always the way to go.
The movie is trash both as an adaptation and as a movie itself. The books are the best media and the series is very nice and faithful even though it has its problems.
So several things: I quite disagree, I will take the Greek gods over Christianity any day thank you😄. At least with them you know what you get and you won't go to hell for every little thing. But as far as the show, a couple of points you may have missed. 1) I suppose from a Christian POV it would be backward that the gods have rules and restrictions and have kids to get around them, but this comes from the idea of Human Free-will. We can choose to obey or break the rules. And 2) Forbidden Children: After WWII, Zeus, Poseidon and Hades all swore not to father any more children because they were too powerful. Here so far Zeus and Poepoe have broken that vow
Well I’m not sure about you and your experiences but I know what I’m getting with Jesus but we’ll have to agree to disagree 🙂 And no disrespect to you but I’m just gonna use this comment to inform anyone who might think otherwise As far as Christianity goes we are saved by grace through faith, believing and having faith in Jesus, that He died for our sins is the only way to get into Heaven. No amount of “good” or “bad” sends you to Heaven or hell. There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son John3:18
@@LakiaJaiTV Oh not at all, no offense taken. I could tell from the tone of the video the kind of reactor I was watching & still commented. All I'll say about that particular part of my comment is you do you. It was Not my intent to offend you & I hope I havent. But I am glad to see you watching. Its one of my favorite franchises & I hope you continue to enjoy it
