The song performed by 者来女 is named【屁】Pi, which means "fart" in Chinese. Used colloquially like the term "bullshit" in English, "fart" here means "nonsense" as Jin Chan Zi (the Golden Cicada or Tang Seng prior to his mortal reincarnation) believes his fellow disciple's (Yellowbrow's) experiment in the mortal realm to prove how easily humans fall to their basest desires is nothing but nonsense.

Some additional context to help add some layers to the meaning of this ending cinematic. 1. Jin Chan Zi (the Golden Cicada) is a disciple of Ru Lai Fo or the Tathagata Buddha who is the current form of the Gautama Buddha. Meanwhile, Yellowbrow is the disciple of Mi Le Fo or the Maitreya Buddha who is the future form of Buddha. Thus Yellowbrow and Jin Chan Zi are both considered students of Buddha. 2. Yellowbrow takes the form of a giant softshell turtle which in Chinese can be called a 王八 (wang ba). This term is also a common curse word that shares a similar meaning to bastard. 3. Jin Chan Zi will eventually get punished by Buddha for dozing off during mass as his punishment will be to reenter the cycle of incarnation ten times. On his tenth incarnation, he takes the form of Tang Seng, a monk in Tang Dynasty who will complete the Journey to the West and bring the teachings of his master Buddha to China. 4. The debate between Jin Chan Zi and Yellowbrow stems mainly from their view on how to deal with desires on the path to enlightenment. Yellowbrow believes in the fulfillment of one’s desires as it follows the human nature of never ending greed, which he tried to prove in his transformation to this wealth giving and health giving softshell turtle deity. Yet Jin Chan Zi argues that the whole experiment is flawed because Yellowbrow set up the entire experiment in a way that makes his desired outcome the only outcome. You can see this from the pulling of the man’s collar as the spark that set off the final disaster was not organic but rather created by Yellowbrow. 5. Jin Chan Zi’s argument against the fulfillment of one’s desire goes beyond human nature, and instead focuses on his senior disciple’s, Yellowbrow’s, constant desire to win as the pursuit of being always correct defeats the purpose of Buddhism debates and clouds the Yellowbrow’s path towards true enlightenment. 6. The song is sang in the Peking Opera style and given a choir effect with multiple background singers to add depth.

Can I ask you something? How the villager killing the soft-shelled turtle deity proving Yellow-Brow point that fulfilling one desire can bring enlightment?

Your videos on Black Myth: Wukong are by far the most thorough and insightful ones I’ve watched. I really appreciate how you dive into the Chinese history, legends, and connect the game to the original tale of “Journey to the West”. Your commentary adds so much depth to the experience-thank you for all your efforts and keep up the amazing work!

I listen to the lyric a few times, I believer the the first 4 lines is 三界 (three realms) 四洲 (four continents) 无所求 (no desire/want) 不可救 (cannot be safe) This is the viewpoint of the Yellowbrow, having desire/want is normal, and he can save you. He emphasize that in his last comment in the video. "If don't care about win or lose, talking about cause and effect is pointless".

Can't watch this or read comments cause still at almost the start of game lol. Thank you ST for all your coverage! I'm not sure if the coverage on Wukong/Journey will continue when done with game(which you might be), but I want to thank you for doing what you have. I have enjoyed it greatly.

Your lyric translation is really really great! This translation, in my opinion, already exceeds the official lyric translation. Hope to see the videos of the next three chapters.

he is trying to show that humans will default to fulfilling their own desires and thus it is the natural path towards enlightenment

@@SeriousTrivia Ah, thank you. However, destruction of the village in the end doesn't seem to be an enlightment to me.

@@muhammadabdullahhanif8860 enlightenment is not for everyone. The source of greed is scarcity. If there is enough for everyone then there would be no endless greed. So much like in that case, not everyone is going to be able to fulfill their desires. The competition for resources will produce some winners and a lot of losers.

Yellow brow is not a buddha. He and Jinchanzi are assistants of the buddha who looks like a baby. He disguised as a buddha and tricked people to believe he is buddha. It is annoying that many players are confused about it.Yellow Brow is not a Buddha in both Journey to the West and Black Myth Wukong.

Yellow brow literally pushed the guy into attacking him. Yellow brow thought that if this demonstrated that humans were selfish in nature, then surely selfishness is the path to enlightenment. In the end he didn't want to be right he just wanted to be justified in giving in to vices.

Btw, Nonsense's lyric is about Yellow Brow's ideology. He is against Buddhist ideology. He is a fake buddha, and tricked some ppl to follow his guide, then named them Bukong, Buneng, Bubai, Bujing, which referring to Jinchanzi's 4 followers Wukong, Wuneng(bajie), Wubai, Wujing.

So is Jin Chan Zi = Tang Seng?
@SeriousTrivia
@SeriousTrivia 8 дней назад
Yes Jin Chan Zi is the student of Buddha who got punished and thus reincarnated eventually as Tang Seng. The Journey to the West is in a sense, his redemption back to Buddha's side.

For some reason, the most surprising slide during the scenes of debauchery was the one picture of the dead villagers (3:24). I wonder if this was the aftermath right after they killed the turtle, where their greed caused them to turn on one another or attracted bandits that massacred them and looted what they took.
