Carmen Papalia is an artist who deconstructs visual culture. Through a series of public interventions, he’s explored his own mobility as a creative process - whether that’s being guided through the streets by a marching band, or navigating intersections in Burnaby using only a megaphone and the assistance of passersby.
For Vancouver’s 2019 Live Biennale, he takes a group of strangers on a guided, non-visual walk - so that they can understand the privileged place that sight occupies in our day-to-day lives.

What a great temperament for an artist who is visually impaired. I think how he was made. Because dysfunction makes people anxious, but seeing him, humble, calm, and friendly, it's really different
