Great review. Why the S2 over the A1? My budget is closer to the A1 and other than a few minor things don’t get it.. but I Cld be missing something? Again, solid review 👌
Nice video, well done. I bought a 2021 Fluid HT and swapped the 120mm 51offset fork for a 130mm 44mm Fox factory. Same logic as you; make sure the one bit of suspension is good. Its a great bike and I don't regret selling my dually to buy the HT.
Nice review, I couldn't find many on the torrent and its nice to see another Aussie on RU-vid. I just picked up an S1 frame with S2 components, I installed the newer style tannus insert yesterday and I'm taking her out for her maiden voyage this afternoon.
Thanks Tim, good to hear! I wanted a S2 frame with S1 components haha I made this video because there isn’t many reviews out there. You’ll love it. Only thing to upgrade eventually would be the forks in my opinion. I have been testing the tannus tubeless insert and I’m working on a video for it.
Hi Stuart, That’s a tough call. The medium would probably be a bit more nimble on the trail. But the large climbs really well. If I had a choice of medium or large I think I’d stick with the large. I’m considering a 40mm stem which will reduce the reach a touch and I think that’s the way to go.
I ordered mine in late November from 99 bikes, at the time you could get their gold membership and get 10% off their normal membership price, which for the torrent was about 10% off already, so I paid $30 and got 20% off the total price (about $800 off).
Thanks Alex. The weight has some effect on handling and climbing. It’s hard to really tell without comparing directly to the alloy version. But I find it no heavier than my alloy full suspension bike, and actually handles and climbs better. It doesn’t effect jumping at all. As for braking, the brakes are big enough to handle it, you just need to dial your tyre pressure like any bike to get enough grip and braking force.
Thanks! I love it. Took a while to convince myself but I don’t regret it. Rode a proper downhill track on the weekend and it was tricky, but still plenty of fun! The torrent isn’t the right bike for everyone, but I have no regrets.
For the money, the best spec'd mtn but NO 27.5 tires...:( The forks and tires ($$$) are perfectly fine until they wear out! Every other bike brand I can count 3-4 things I don't like. Similar to my San Quentin 2 27.5 but better components and chromoly. I prefer the blue-ish metallic frame...
I know! There’s not much out there. And I disagree with Pinkbike that it’s a ground hugging hardtail. I think it’s plenty playful. Curious how the A1 goes. Probably more agile
@@MikeOnaBike I’m in Sydney too, I just sold my talon 2 with 27.5 wheels, The Torrent is a much faster bike, but the first corner I took I ran wide hard ! Lol still getting used to the 29s
Can't decide wether I want the Torrent s2 or Ragley Big Al 1.0 Both seem like they are excellent choices for a HT for under the $2500 mark. Has anyone ridden the Ragley yet?
I’ve heard good things about the ragley bikes. I didn’t consider them at the time because none were available. The big al will be lighter and more nimble for sure.
@@karlosxzy Im 180cm and almost wish I went a medium. The large is comfortable but it feels like a big bike still. Not as playful as I was expecting. A medium would be more playful. If you can’t test ride probably go a large, but if you can try a medium give it a go.
