I played this at my dad's funeral two weeks ago. We are from a proud Scottish heritage but we always related to this song. Listen to this everyday. Thank you for sharing.
@@hellasboy900 well considering the Norse had fables of Greece and we found Greek tomes of "serpent people" ( aka my ancestors because we carved dragons they looked serpent like into our ships and armor) I'm not surprised. And I don't mean tomes of Gorgon's but people who dress in fur and appeared to worship serpents. Logically it would seem like the Norse who often traveled. Also no vikings are not Norse, Norse is a people and viking is a trade basically piracy.
I’m 39 years old and just started listening to tribal music about a year ago. I can say that I’m sad I didnt find this music earlier. I love music in general but this is more like healing for the soul. I feel this music and understand it like it’s natural. It reaches deep down and calls to the early human in me. I love it!
For those of you interested in some mythology. When the souls of Asatro, the Norse religion, die in combat, half of the souls are taken to Odin in Valhalla and the other half is taken to Fólkvangr, the great meadow ruled by Freyja.
Wumpus 1 actually it literally is. It is also believed that warrior women went to Freyja as well and that she led the Valkyries but I could be wrong. But Folkvangr was in the Poetic and Prose Edda’s, the most prominent source of Norse Mythology.
Hey guys, here is a new Nordic/Viking piece called "Fólkvangr". In Norse mythology, Fólkvangr (Old Norse "people-field" or "army-field") is a field ruled over by the goddess Freyja where half of those that die in combat go upon death, while the other half go to the god Odin in Valhalla. Thanks to Aundrey Dostovalov for the photography! The final version will be on an album =) Hope you guys enjoy it, chuck it a like if you do and have a great week.
@@psychwardpussyeater there are certain people in power that wish for everyone to be mixed and not have any ethnic or cultural identity. They want everyone to believe that it's evil to not want to be mixed but what I believe is that it's actually evil to erase your own people and culture
@@AS-ch1kh That's not just your opinion.... That's a fact. Just because you don't like your ethnicity to die out, along with your culture being replaced by outsider's culture doesn't mean you're evil or racist. They're trying to kill us silently. They silence everyone who knows exactly what they're doing. For "hate speech" and "racism." But I can tell you that's bullshit and we all know it.
@@AS-ch1kh race mixing is not something that has been forced upon the world. people now have the choice to love who they want regardless of ethnicity and big surprise, skin color doesn't really factor in that much anymore. I'm from sweden, 100% scandinavian, a direct descendant from the vikings, and a pagan. This doesn't grant me more right to old norse culture than anyone else because everyone has the same capacity to live by our values. Who knows, the vikings travelled so much there was probably black vikings back then too.
Ancient blood runs through all of us. It stirs thee unknown memories of past life's. Old songs thru all cultures sounded like this that's why it hits our feelings
Davy Jones' Based on your name, I guess that makes sense. Sorry, I’m taking this out of proportion. It’s just that a lot of these comments nearly drove me to berserksgang (going berserk), because of how they idolized the Norsemen and by the time I got to this one, I was already too furious. Truth be told, ek vil ok víkingr heita :) (I also want to be called a viking)
I was being sarcastic, I know pretty well the vikings in the 8-11th era, and you are wrong if you really belief every vikings was just a murderer and rapist of women, more than being a viking (because they doesn't exist the same way) I would like to adapt to their old costumes, vikings were explorers, craftsmen, traders and really independent when it comes to survive, old vikings wanted revenge agains Charlemagne but today being a viking today would be spare time swimming, wrestling or playing king's table because there's no more air for exploration in the actual world.
I’m half Italian and Scandinavian, this music feeds my inner warrior that society has put a muzzle on. I truly feel in my soul I’m in the wrong time period.
You are not the only one. I am an east Euro and many of us feel the same about the present situation... something went really wrong with our continent...
I'm an Earthling and I'm proud of my people. Aside from that I've loved the Icelandic sagas for 55 years, ever since The Ring by Wagner led me to read the Volsungasaga as a teenager.
Folkvang (Old Norse Fólkvangr, “Field of the People” or “Field of Armies”) is the abode of the goddess Freya. ... According to Grímnismál, Freya takes half of the “weapon-dead” into Folkvang after they die. The other half are said to go to Valhalla, the more famous hall of the god Odin.
Thank you so much man! Hey, i have been away for ages, without internet focusing on finishing things off. I came across your email a few days back. I am still keen on doing what we spoke about, i will get back to you as soon as i can man. Hope you've been well
I have a deep connection with all norse/ nordic songs and its culture even tho i'm from India. I also love short axe, large axe, bow and arrows.. etc. This warrior mentality inside me. I was a viking way back in the day. I knew this for a few years now.
I love this song. It'd be so good, if this song had an hour or 10 hour long version. It really has a calming and soothing effect on me, while also does not derail my concentration, so I can focus if I have to study.
I honored my dog with the name Freya she was my best friend smart, loving ,and always had my back and was there for me after my 7 knee operations last one they fused . I had back surgery . Animals are so intuitive to the people they love . But I'm very proud of all my heritage. This music speaks to my soul . I love it . Thanks .
This is beautiful and it possesses that haunting feeling that takes you back to another time. I love ancient and medieval history and music like this sets the tone for reading and etc. Love it!
Not sure where you bought your DNA test from, but I have been advised not to use the Jw owned "123 and Me" for obvious reasons, and instead use (www) (dot) ancestry (dot) co (dot) uk . I have to write the URL like this due to RU-vid deleting all weblinks at the moment (censorship gone mad).
I'm swedish and this makes me proud to have been descended from the Vikings. Beautiful music, I always come back to listen to this masterpiece. My 4 year old son loves it also and always goes to bed with it.
I'm just from America no where near any of these type of cultures where they originated but I've always felt connected to music like Celtic,Viking, and other music too. I don't listen to rap or any of those types of artist. This music makes me feel complete.
White people have culture, but they don't preserve it. They are mixing and they care for immigrants. The Oriental Asians (Chinese, Japanese, Mongolian, Korean) are strong preserving they race, they never mixed, but european is weak.
BS! Warriors = sex, lots of alcohol and fuck "our own" gods and specially yours. Short: you no north europian an specially no warrior. I am Frysk Warrior, same gods but little bit other names.... You plz dont talk as the goblin admirer (= Jezus/God or Mo/Allah...) you seem to be.
Never forget the heritage. Italian blood here but love my Nordic brothers and sisters none the less, as well as every other brother and sister I share this beautiful planet with. Blessed be you and yours. As we gaze upon the stars at night know I’m looking too.
A large percentage of my paternal family is Scandinavian and so I'm trying to learn more about Scandinavian and Nordic cultures and it is so vibrant and beautiful!
Peter Gundry | Composer Seriously, I discovered you about a few weeks ago and it's been a gift. I find myself craving your music in the morning or when I want to detach from the world a bit and relax.
Years ago I looked up where my family's surname originated. It originated in what is now the UK, but my ancestors originated from Denmark. We settled in Western France (Normandy), and the rest was history.
@@jangofett9782 Denmark has done much better then Sweden in the last years, u guys are totally passive against the mass invasion while Denmark has shown more baallss...
Wish i had this when I drove through Iceland. Its so fitting. Especially the areas I went to. Well, i found it now. And I do plan to return to that beautiful country at some point to see what it looks like in the winter Edit: I cant find this song on your Spotify albums. I was hoping you had an entire album with songs like these 😥 NM!! Found it!! ❤
Someone get this on Vikings right now! This sounds amazing and if the directors of vikings don't headhunt you for your music, then they're missing out.
These Viking songs take me back to the life in my past life, it calms my soul, makes me feel like I'm lost in this life and my real life is living as I once lived,
I'm Polish and Slavic ❤ I feel closer to my culture when I'm listening to this beautiful music ❤ I am happy living in Bonnie Scotland then I feel more closer than ever before ❤
When I first saw this the other day, I thought: why does this woman look like she belongs in Skyrim? Then I saw the pendant and it explained everything. Awesome music!
I pray that when I leave this world, this music will play and Freya in her chariot pulled by her cats will retrieve me and take me to the Halls of Sessrumnir in the fields of Folksvangr. I will spend my after life telling tales at the sacred fire as all good Bards will do.
Our all-Father, Odin be his holy name Ragnarok will come, fate will be done on earth as it is in Asgard Give US this this day our Daily mead and forgive us of our cowardliness as we forgive those who fail us in battle Leed us not into fear, but deliver us from defeat, for Odin is Valhalla The runes and wisdom forever and forever All hail to the God who reigns supreme
Such beautiful music. Love from Turkey. I am only half Turkish. Yet I would like to Say ah I can listen to this and conquer the worlds ( in hearts of Iron 4) but also straight out listen to such beautiful music.
Being adopted I really don't know my roots. This music and music like it (FAUN) makes my blood sing more than any other music, that and a predilection for round shields and battle axes, kinda makes me believe I found my familial beginnings.
Bella Finchelli No it’s not, it’s not anybodies culture, the norsemen culture died with the conversion to Christianity, no one is a Viking, especially you, with an Italian first name and an Italian last name
Why does literally every white person claim to be a viking? Only like 2 or 3% of white people on the planet can actually claim to be vikings to a good degree. Having some nordic dna doesn't make you a viking.
Alex Abplanalp yes true. But to be historically accurate, if you are mostly western euro and have Scandinavian ancestry, you most likely have Viking blood
@@Grease7 You can't have Viking blood since Viking isn't blood, it's a title, similar to a knight. You can have ancestors that were Vikings, but you yourself aren't Viking unless you take the role.
Folkvangr, from folk meaning people (though usually used to refer to warriors), and vangr, meaning place or valley, was described by Snori in the prose eda as the hall of Freja. It is said she takes half of the dead who are killed in battle there. It is commonly misinterpreted that half the dead go to Valhalla and half go to Folkvangr, but a much more likely scenario is that Folkvangr is a kenning (a sort of clever nickname) for Valhalla, meaning they are the same place, and Freja is assuming the role of a valkyrie when she takes half the dead slain in battle there.
No, they are not the same place according to scholars who read the Native Language, and have studied what little there is of the lore left after the Christian conversion by threat of death and destroying the culture and lore. The lore was written by a Christian and therefore their way of thinking is all over the old stories. Freitas was NIT a valkyrie, she was not the leader of the valkyries either. Freyja is not the same as Frigga and was not Odin wife. So many things modern pagan change about the lore. The inages of a scantly dressed thin woman for a Freyja are also incorrect, and shows the modern culture influences. It was very cold where they lived, layers and furs is what they should be wearing and bigger boned, broader woman , with more meat on her bones and more muscle as it was a very physically hard life in the cold. So many thing modern pagans and Heathens get wrong now days. They don’t even bother to look at the culture or past of the people just lay their current thinking on it.
Freya was a godess in her onw right and had her own realm and half of the fallen did she choose. She was the first valcurie. She taught seidr to Oden even if it was ergi for men. So she's a godess of war and seidr and not only love.
@@karlaarnold9842 They would not wear very thick clothes and wouldn't have to be big and strong, because the north weren't a cold winter wasteland, they would wear masterly crafted linen clothes during spring and summer and woolen clothes during fall and winter, the belief that the north is a cold winter wasteland is only a misconception. During the summer it is pretty warm here.
Oh! Yay, some good music!!! It reminds me of that game Hellblade, this girl went ahead and was going through Hel, the realm in Nordic myth where the dead go, and she was trying to get someone back
Samantha Miner GAMING HEADPHONES YA NEED THEM RN!!!!! Good audio quality, swear to god it’ll help with the immersion! If you don’t you’ll regret it seriously
I'm of Celtic descent mostly. Mostly Irish and partly Scottish. I also love being Italian, Jewish and German. Romans, Celts and tribesmen. I love the Norsemen and their mighty warriors.
Took a 23 and me test and discovered my Scandinavian heritage. The beat to this song really draws the nordic heritage out of me and makes me feel some kind of way!
@@heathercude3797 pretty fun to discover, huh. Also found I was related to Alexander Hamilton and Otzi the Iceman from each side of my parents blood line.
My kin are descendants of Old Country Norway/Vikings. Could not ask for a better ancestry in my opinion! God bless the Norwegian people for their contribution to this world!
LOL.... Yea sure thing. I can feel proud myself sometimes. Irish, Mostly Scottish with some percent Norwegian says 23andMe... (still kind of silly though, we're all human)... Nearly every race/heritage has had some bad ass warrior culture at some point in time. Which is why I'm guessing nearly every guy gets a hard on over the possibility of having Viking ancestry. Which by the way... I bet nearly everyone in Europe has relation even if by a small percent. I mean raping and pillaging everywhere they went was their thing right. To me.. Just boasting about it like that sometimes comes across as kind of cringy.... MY KIN !!!... But hey, that's more my issue I guess
