Good job by both bands. Norfolk was cleaner, but I liked A&T’s sound better. And Norfolk, I hate your 5th book. You really need to up your pen game, speaking as a fan. Please toss Dirty Diana into the Chesapeake Bay or leave it for pep rallies.

BGMM Sound cleaner than this video. Of course they will sound muffled if the camera is to their side instead of front. Just like NS sound similar on BGMM video 😂. You don’t have to like their version of Annihilate but it was full and powerful and funky. We are who we are…BGMM AGGIE PRIDE!!!
People keep saying how A&t has a freshman band. Legion has a young band this year too majority of their band are freshman and sophomore. I can’t wait to hear how they mature! Both bands have a powerful sound but NSU was cleaner.
I have definitely heard better from both of these bands. However, I'm giving T the slight edge! Golden Delight will keep your focus if nothing else! Norfolk seems to have gotten smaller since Nationals. Still two great elite programs.
Kudos to both bands and all involved!!! College Band is a 1 hour credit course. Many extra hours of practice plus other classes!!! Hats off all young musicians, instructors, chaperones and supporters!!!!! Band music is live music!!!!!
Golden Delight blends so well with A&T 💙💛its like when you’re watching your getting a full on performance from the band. Its so Collegiate. Every time the camera flipped back to NSU it’s just like ehhhhh…😕 Something is just weirdly boring about them.
I am hoping we have an all out crankfest with the top 2 SWAC bands vs the top 2 Meac bands meet on a neutral site during the start of band camp! I know the students and the fans would show up for this event!
Norfolk band staff is being too conservative with these arrangements…. The band sounds great but the arrangements dull and boring… put some spank and soul on em bruh! I was disappointed in how A&T game planned this 5th, I’ve seen them game plan better than this! I disappointed in the 5th period because I’ve heard them both do better than this… wtf bruh 🤬
I was hoping for more from this matchup. I shouldn't be surprised, this meetup hasn't been good since 09. I will give a very slight edge to NSU. A&T annihilate was super sloppy. As well as other pieces.
Both bands just seemed like they were ready to get the day over! Two powerhouse programs but neither really came out on top!!! I remember the old days when the Legion and the BGMM would go for blood. Now, it's like watching another 5th quarter!
I love both bands, but.........thats it?.......From my assessment I know A&T had to leave early for another event if im not mistaken, but damn I wanted more. If they knew they were going to leave early they should have atleast had a zero qtr.
I think they just need to strategically determine how to facilitate each section accordingly and focus on intonation. Maybe they are in a learning stage to see what needs fixing since they up'd their size.
it’s better than famu’s. T’s trumpets actually attempted to scream on that and i give them credit because they almost had it, but if they had the screams from like 2017-2020 they would’ve ate that up so bad
The band world has a difference of opinion. Everyone unbiased to both programs have said Norfolk won but A&T did not sound bad at all. It was still a quality battle. Both bands did their thing. #fortheculture
Give me NSU. They put on a musical clinic. Every section solid. If you cut out all the BS...who sounds louder on the camera, wind blowing heavy, weird angles or w.e. and just listen to the music and execution. Its pretty clear.
I don't know about musical clinic. Stroking that good ol ego huh lol😅. However I hope that this match up stays around. It's important with both bands being respected power houses on the east coast.
@chrisbryant6950 Call it what you want but ok lol. I didn't say that to mean T was bad, I enjoyed the match up. But when it came to power with balance, intonation, trumpets carrying that upper octave...NSU sound was just more mature imo.
Definitely weird angles. ‘I was like is Norfolk muffled?’ Until they turned in Dirty Diana. They both sounded good but it is weird to judge. Can’t say either really were dominant Update: seems like A&T isn’t facing the weird muffle angle at the end. Damn I’m not a fan of NSU’s stadium for bands
I feel like A&T has more talented bandsmen and i can hear it in the intonation sections sound louder more aggressive and the balance isn’t a issue. however, nsu sounds like the better BAND. They executed and were clean . I heard A&T fumble a few times but NSU stayed competent. I also like NSU’s arrangements better. A&T’s weren’t bad but we’ve definitely heard better from BGMM.

I'm a BGMM fan here. I have to say I agree. I did not get any type of aggression from either one. I assumed that with them getting their numbers up they will straight up go beast mode, but clearly I was wrong. Norfolk sounds good and clean. A&T needs dire work done.
@@March-1-1 yea I remember watching them in the early 00's and you could tell they would get up to play each other .. now it just seems like they act as if it's just another sat afternoon .. no intensity at all lol .. and both halftime shows were dry smh 🤔 .. I had to watch their '09 battle to scrub this from my mind 🤣🤣
Nsu just had to play dirty diana. They slowly falling out of my top. This is supposed to the 5th quarter that the fans wait for and the last couple of years it has been nothing. Starting to thi k nsu do not have a book like we think they do

Our kids can't play instruments now because parents can't pay for that it cost money for parents to pay and they don't have that causes need to kick in because we still love to hear y'all again and play

Norfolk has 7 tubas on each side of the band. Last time I checked 7*2= 14. Just in case I'm tripping and 7*2 doesn't equal 14 I counted each individually and I still got 14.
A&T lost this battle during the Annihilate song! I'm sorry, but Trumpets, it's okay to stay in the pocket if the chops are tired. Always finish clean. I'll take Norfolk for the dub.
Kev i love the audio I know you’re on the 50 between both bands. Norfolk clean and powerful A&T powerful but inconsistent and a little sloppy. “T”’s Trumpets struggling. Dizziacs are giving them the business.
Let’s be real, their trumpets only struggled on Annihilate but they were fine on everything else. And them dizzies had some struggle moments too, they not slick
NCAT did not sound good … they were skating , the trumpets were off , and the tubas need milk… 🥛to be as huge as a band they are , they sound very young .. best sounding band , NSU… there’s money possible you listen to that audio can not hear the errors coming NCAT ..
Well NCA&T is 90% freshman. Also, Norfolk had some “skating” moments as well. Also, the brass numbers with exception of the Tuba section is the same size.
Norfolk trumpets were literally doing the same thing ncat trumpets was doing so Ima need you to keep that same energy. Secondly, of course they sound “very young” since they recruited a LOT of freshmen. The tubas were fine

They are very young. The band is predominantly freshman. Can't expect a band with hardly any upperclassmen to come out strong in September. The fact that they are this good in Sept is a great sign. By November they will sound even better.. within the next 2 years A&T will run the MEAC if their program continues to grow as it has.

What in the H E double hockey sticks are people listening to. NORFOLK killed the 5th Quarter. A&T was pitchy as hell. Trumpet section was inconsistent. Yes they have size but those freshmen have to mature musically. The future is definitely bright for the BGMM. But in my opinion NORFOLK took this battle. They are ridiculously clean. Every section giving A&T the business. 💚💛💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾❤️❤️❤️BEHOLD!
