I live in Willoughby and here are some nice local spots: Smokey Bones is a great neighborhood dive bar located across the street from Ocean View Beach Park, atlantis games and comics is located on the same strip. Jessy's Taqueria on 13th Bay street is another great local spot. What I like best about Ocean View is the different types of architecture. We have Victorian houses, new houses, and even a few art deco buildings such as Joanie's Diner. Once you get away from the parks, the beach is NEVER crowded.
@@alexsummy7509 Thanks for the list of more goodies to visit! We're here on the Spit and have only just begun to take in all it has to offer. We've also found the Ocean View Diner another excellent choice for breakfast or lunch!
Just moved to VA from CO, and after spending a few weeks in the Virginia Beach area getting used to things, I found your video and had to check out Ocean View. The beach is awesome, the pier fun to visit, and the park a great walk, but it was your review of A World of Good that sold me. Have been there (almost) weekly since moving here in October and haven't even gotten close to the end of the wonderful, and tasty, dishes! AWoG is not to be missed! Thanks for the excellent recommendation!
I just moved there from California and it’s great to explore! I’ve been there only twice so far but it’s been a great expierence! I have yet to make any friends but if I see any videos regarding Norfolk I’m watching lol. Thank you.
Yes!! There are so many places to explore in Norfolk - especially in the Summer! So glad you enjoyed the video!! Have you ever been to COVA Brewing or A World of Good?
@@RealEstateTay World of good is my favorite spot so far! That california burrito with french fries in it is SOO dang good! Its like down the street from me to! I cant wait till summer tho, the weather here is pretty crazy! I like it tho
@@Kurrizmahh Ohhhh!!! Bahaha makes sense!! There are so many spots in Ocean View - I thought you meant it was another restaurant! I will def have to try that next time I go! Thank you!
Whilloughby spit is hidden gem. Some of the Live oak trees are still covered in Spanish moss. A true rarity being that the city got rid of most of the Oaks to build ships
I ❤️Ocean View! The wonderful amusement park has so many memories growing up! We lived in Oakdale Farms off Little Creek Rd when I was a kid. Later, I lived for a few years in E. Ocean View. It was affordable and a bit slummy then but I’d get out on the beach almost every day except in winter. I’d jog on the beach from 5th bay to the amusement park and back ( 5 miles). I could not afford to live in Ocean View now but it would be my first choice if I could move back.
There is so much character in Ocean View!! Thank you for sharing your experience growing up here, Neal!! So cool to see so many different perspectives - especially since Ocean View has changed so much over the years!
@@RealEstateTay yes it has. East Beach is very upscale now but in the 70’s-80’s it was sort of sketchy and dumpy. A lot of the old beach cottages have been torn down. Even then, I liked its vibe. I’d go out on the beach at night and watch the moonlight reflecting over the Bay ( remember “Moonlight Feels Right” by Starbuck from 1976?). Lights of ships would shine across the water, and the CBBT lights marched across the Bay. Jellyfish could be terrible in the late summer, and the surf wasn’t as good as the ocean, but I’d walk a couple blocks and have the beach as my front yard.
@@nealammerman6768 Wow!! Yes, having the beach as part of your front yard is definitely the dream goal! Thank you for sharing your experience of Ocean View!!
Chic’s Beach is so nice too! And super close to Ocean View. Have you ever gone to Buoy 44? It’s a great restaurant right there on the water in Chic’s Beach.
I used to live in Ocean View back in 1990. Nice during the day, but, during the night, it was nothing but prostitution, drugs, and gangfights every other night.
