Excellent video of both N&W locos in action at Strasburg 👍 475 is the best steam engine on the railroad, 611 is just so cool & awesome. I hope Strasburg will bring Southern Railroad 4501 to visit next year.
4014 and 3985 would damage the rails way too much, and besides probably would be never happen anyways. 611 already damaged the rails, so I’m pretty sure they don’t want an engine bigger that 611 to visit in future.
The original location was located up top where the cowling hid it from the view below. I believe the original bell is in someone's collection. They added an automatic bell from a diesel when she was restored in 1982.
I was very fortunate to see 611 at Strasburg last year, and have visited the railroad and railroad museum many, many times (my maternal grandmother lived out in Lancaster County). In fact, I credit that short-line railroad (and a certain blue tank engine) with instilling a deep love for trains and railroads within me.
This is awesome. I saw 475 and 611 in Strasburg when I went to their train museum too. I just put the video about it up on my channel. I was so excited to see it in Strasburg that I put it on my thumbnail for my video. Thanks for sharing.
I noticed 611 is pulling the train backwards. Playing tank engine 611? Sensible engine. In all seriousness the j class is one of my most faviorite streamliners next to the a4 pacific
I dont think any coal loaders are around there any more. If so, I don't know if the mechanism that hauled the coal up into the loader would still work.
I always love the chance to see the Queen of Steam 611.. but she should be proudly pulling mainline excursions, not shuttling opened air passenger wagons on a branch line tourist railroad!
