It's so interesting to have this around you. I live on long Island, NY US and have frequently scouted out sites like Camp Hero at Montauk point, since the 80's. Spent many hours at an old Telephunken radio site in Sayville ... Great stuff folks
I know this site well, there are two large concrete horizontal sliding doors on runners, large spiral metal staircase going down 30ft to the main control rooms. The doors are rusted shut but I found another emergency exit a distance away to access it via long tunnel.
It's good to see chain home still serving as cell phone towers! I always love seeing the old technology. I never thought that the chain home Towers might have had aircraft avoidance beacons during the war.
What you’ll find is old radar sites were built on the best sites, when a network are about building its network they often use old survey maps and learn you don’t have to look much further then just get a map of all the chain radar stations to get an suggestion of great sites. It’s almost like someone did the work for you 80 years ago.
There is a good chance when the site was active it wasn't actually in a wood.... With all those concrete bases the farmer will of kept off it.... A bit like on the airfields where drains etc are in the field the farmer leaves that area..... Bit like RAF Burn with the underground bunker..... farmer never goes near it . Excellent vid, guessing this was after you left me.
Brilliant guys!! god I wish we could reverse the gradual destruction of these precious sites.if only people had some forethought before these sites were destroyed 😞😞😞
Hi guys, OMG Ian you nearly made me spray my tea on my laptop when you did your pheasant impression, my word what are you like 😂😂. A very curious site that last one wasn't it ?. Thanks for sharing and for the smiles, much love. xx💖🤘
There is nothing more suspicious than three blokes in cammo looking suspicious. What is the worst that can happen? Tell you to do one or use you as mating stock for the locals. Enjoyable if just for the paranoia. Surely there must be old MOD maps from WW2 and after detailing locations etc? Why did the cops stop you this time?
Back of the toilet pan is a rag and putty joint, clean, paint the joint, put the putty round, paint, wrap strips of rag round, tie up with string, job done
I suspect the old white smiley transit with the banana engine being the favourite mode of transport for the often ginger usually guilty of something "travelling community" might explain the plod pulls. I would assume the same if I saw you on the roads. Just scream "D'yer like daargs?" in the coppers face next time it happens. They'll either laugh or pepper spray you.
In seaton cerew and Billingham Teesside near the coast there is small buildings ( peep holes ) from WW2....And in the North Yorkshire moors there's a WW2 prisoner of war camp.... Great to learn the history .... It's called Eden Camp...Not far from Whitby....
In the video Chris made the comment several times that it would not make sense for a road to just stop if there was nothing there and of course in this video that turned out to be logical because you obviously did find some very interesting remains there. However just for future reference keep in mind that there is precedent for locations that were hidden or camouflaged to ensure that the trails and roads that led to them continued on well past them and that was make it difficult for aerial reconnaissance to pinpoint the location of the hidden sites by simply looking to see where a road stopped. In some cases there were paved roads or Jeep trails that basically wound around areas but actually led to nothing in particular and were built & maintained simply as an effort to confuse enemy aircraft and aerial image interpreters.
Three men prancing around the woods in camo , one has a large beard , in America you would be vaporized by some laser guided 2 million dollar missile, the video footage would then end up on RU-vid , how ironic !!!
The reason for getting so much attention in norfolk is because you are driving a white van, travellers are always driving white vans and nicking stuff lol
If you had a old 200 tdi landrover discovery (without a rusty chassis as they are known for that ) with a small rice horse box to put your camping stove and bunk beds you would be far less conspicuous .No one would batter a eyelid .perfect stealth caravan .if you got rumbled though you would have to pretend to be horses in the box or say you have come to buy one .but got lost ?
Police should have reasonable belief you may have or may commit a crime in order to stop you and ask your details. They appear to be acting more the east German police before the wall came down.
The shells could have been used by farmers as fertiliser in years gone by either for organic means or just because processed chemical fertilisers were in short supply.
@@chrisstacey1984 it's the whole thing of not putting yourself in the situation to be pulled over. As an example, if i were to walk around a rough area waving a £50 note around and got mugged, it's wrong i got mugged, but i didn't help myself by waving the £50 note around to begin with
Top Tip .when you were crossing that open field you should have run flat out in zig zags so the farmers wouldent take accurate aim .something to take on board next time.!otherwise a fine body of men will be just fine body's of men .Those Norfolk farmers don't Take Prisoners .Look at Tony Martin .?
nothing to hide so we have no reason too - we are always honest and say what we doing or where we are going - not giving details etc just makes them think you have something to hide tbh -they did mention they pulled it as it was a long way from home they thought it was on false plates
