This time we found traces of an abandoned WW2 US machine gun position in the Ardennes Forest. We also discovered evidence that this site could have been visited by veterans not too long ago.

My Grandma served in ww2 and she was a code breaker. She help break the Japanese code. And she passed away 2 years ago. She left me ALOT of ww2 coins. From Nazi coins, french, Japanese, U.S and I have a entire shoe box full of coins. But they are made of silver so the markings on them are wore down a little

@@maths8458 Google what happened during WW2 and you know that they also did "war crimes" No wars are good, and the history will always be written by the victor. But nonetheless this man served and protected his country, but most importantly he protected his friends and brothers.

I wonder if in the future someone will find one of my teams machine gun positions in the jungles of Vietnam just south of the DMZ. We ( Delta Co. 1st. Bn. 4th Marines) ran into an ambush in Sept. 1966 and had 18 dead and 22 wounded in my company during the first few hours of the firefight. That fire fight would end with less than two Marine rifle companies ( maybe 140 Marines) being pinned down for 3 days by the 324-B North Vietnamese Div. of about a thousand men. We were unable to get anyone dead or wounded out or supplies in. Some who would have probably lived died becasue of it. Marine choppers braved anti-aircraft fire to swoop in over our position and push out supplies, some ammo water and medical supplies landed on our position but most went down the side of the hill. What we got keep us in the fight. Finally contact with the NVA broken after we called our own artillery in on our position and Marine aircraft dropped HE and Napalm on the hill around us. We got our dead and wounded out...and we limped out under our own power. I never heard a final count of causalities . I was a 19 year old machine gun team leader. Gy.Sgt. @@lingling140 Well an example of disrespectful behavior would be if they took the coins that they found. Since those coins were left there by veterans to honor their fallen comrades it would be disgraceful to keep them. Fortunately once he realized the symbolism of the coins he brought them back to where he found them.

My father Jack Keith was a U S Army combat medic that was in the Battle of the Bulge. He was 20 years old and had landed at Omaha Beach on the 2nd day of the invasion. He was a good man and I miss him.

Since the quarters now have states on the back (this one being New Hampshire with Franconia Notches "Old Man Of The Mountain") on it, I wonder if the fallen solder was from that state.

The coffee and lemon and orange powder labels are from what are called "K" rations. You are right about the symbolism of the modern coins. I have left coins at battlefields in Viet Nam in the Iron Triangle. SEMPER FIDELIS🇺🇸

The quarter is my home state of New Hampshire... The immage on the quarter is the "old man of the mountain" it was a natural rock formation up in the mountains it collapsed and fell into the lake below it some where in the mid 2000's. It's awesome to see my states quarter there! And like everyone else says thank you for returning the coins it means a lot to veterans.

At first I was like, man o man that's a quarter, and being pre 1964 that's a 90% silver quarter as I collect those. And then as soon as I saw the dates being a veteran myself I knew exactly what they meant....great job returning them! Nice video, hope to see more!

As an ex British soldier this video really brought back a lot of emotions and memories for me that I definitely didnt expect when I first started watching this! Just try for a moment to be that man who laid those coins down in that forest and the emotions and memories it must have stirred within him. I know the men who found the coins correctly returned them to the forest but only with reflection can they begin to understand the gravity of what they found and how they conducted themselves. The ability to keep the memory of those brave men alive like this is a true gift. Thank you.

My father, Seth Holden fought in the Battle of the Bulge as part of Patton's 3rd Army. He was the gunner on a 40mm Bofors Gun and had come ashore at Normandy of the 5th day. They had been sent for Rest & Recuperation but on the first night of R&R they were rolled out at 0200 hours and sent back into battle due to the German Offensive. They had not been issued winter uniforms and were still wearing the clothes they came ashore with back in June. As they left, the gun crew ran to Belgian civilian houses and begged for winter coats. Seth ended up with a Belgian WWI Greatcoat. During the battle, Seth shot down a german Heinkel airplane at night as it passed in front of the moon. Next day he went to the wreckage and found the pilot and crew burned to death while still strapped in.

Those .50 rounds you found were probably from the M2 .50 caliber or “Ma deuce” which was not carried by infantrymen but mounted on a Jeep or a tank since they were very heavy. Those fixed American positions would’ve had .30 caliber light Browning machine guns that fired the same ammo as the m1 garand. I appreciate the work you boys do! Thanks.

Thank you for leaving the coins where you found them. Also, the 1921 buckle was not made specifically for the Garand, though it may have been used with one later, because the Garand was not invented until 1936.

Ik als veteraan en oud militair dank je voor het terugbrengen van de munten waar je ze vond, niet veel mensen begrijpen wat dit voor WW2 veteranen betekent en hadden deze mee genomen. Gelukkig heb ik de gruwelen van WW2 niet mee hoeven maken maar heb andere gruwelen gezien en meegemaakt in gelijkaardige situaties. Je bent door het terugbrengen van de munten een eerbaar persoon met het hart op de goede plaats, verander vooral nooit. Je maakt geweldige goede video's met een redelijke goede uitleg van je vondsten, alleen je uitspraak heeft een update nodig lol. Desalniettemin goed werk verricht en gefeliciteerd met je award. Ik hoop dat je er nog meer verdient.

l am a former active duty US Marine. Replacing those coins was truly respectful and honorable. The veterans who left those coins genuinely loved the men that they fought side by side with. Even in times of peace Marines, sailors and soldiers are able to make deep and enduring personal bonds. Sharing combat only deepens those bonds. When You showed that those coins are made long after ww2 I started writing that You should put them back, but While I was writing, You already did what’s right, so respect for that, most people wouldn’t have done that.

I had only learnt a few months ago what the meaning of the coins are. To me it's a touching procedure and I commend you for returning the coins that were obviously left by old comrades for their fallen mates. Good on you mate, 1 more subscriber.

Great video, my grandfather fought there in the battle of the bulge he was I believe in the 5th infantry division U.S. army. It's so neat to see things that he may have carried there. Thank you for sharing these finds with the world to see and remember what was done and the great sacrifices that were made there.

This video really hit home for me. My Dad was in the Ardennes battle in WW-II . I saw it as one of the battles he was in on his honorable discharge papers. He was a PFC (private first class) I wasn't born for many years later (1964) looking around that forest, I couldn't help but wonder if my Dad had looked on the same scenery at some point, long ago. Lost my Dad in 1980, God rest his soul.

The Ardennes was such a moving place to be (I've always been interested in WW2 because of my Grandpa who served) Knowing what we know about what happened in that forest just walking through it and no one else there had a very...different feeling to it. You almost didn't want to make a sound.
