Broken Wave if you can’t see the humor of him saying that in front of the entirety of Canada’s entertainment talent, you gotta pick up some common sense yourself lmao
"There's a joke writer, he gives you jokes. There's a gag writer, he gives you gags. There's a head writer, he gives you...what I'm saying is, things are very specialized."
@@andypandy8410 Norm's long joke about the guy that is doing the tight rope over Niagara Falls. And the guy that is in Bangkok and could only afford the 95 year-old hooker doing oral sex. "So amazingly - at this point in time, even though half the world apart from each other, both of these men are thinking...... . . . ."Don't look down!"
Never let it be said about Norm Macdonald "The cancer beat him". When Norm died, the cancer died with him. So at worst, it was a TIE! R.I.P. Norm...my favorite comedian of all time.
I thought this would be boring to watch, but I should have known better. As I watched, only at the beginning did I think about the cancer. He is that funny.
It just confirms my most recent addiction, cuz I have an addictive personality, things that are fun and make me happy and my peers look down at me, not unlike hunching over my opium garden
Patrick Keating for real 30 Rock that she spearheaded and acted decently in with a meta aspect, is one of the funniest sitcoms that didn’t hold back in any way
@@kevincarbone6831 She can't be a hack for writing and creating one of the funniest shows in the last two decades. Disagree for whatever reason but don't be a bitch about it and pretend she isn't widely influential and one of the best comedy writers of a generation.
@@kevincarbone6831 *why are you emotional gives a stupidly long response* She's widely influential and 30 Rock is considered one of the best comedy shows since 2000. I'm stating that she isn't a hack, her writing's solid. Ironic to pull out the celebrity worship when you're sucking Norm's comedic phallus (I've gotta be careful). "It's all just capitalism, dude, she didn't actually write 30 Rock, it was actually a marketing experiment and you fell for it like a sucker." That you collapse your thinking into "lady comedy writers --> Amy Schumer is unfunny, right!!" means I'm done with you. Listen to some good music, or something. Relax, take in the sounds around you and appreciate and acknowledge your own breath, in and out, in and out, find a mantra all your own, peaceful, loving, Tina Fey is funny, in syllables Tee-nah Fey is fuhn-knee. In breath, out breath.
@@robpelick7460 At the last World Cup of Hockey Canada and the US had a separate under 23 team (mostly Canadians) and the normal Team Canada still won the Cup. We are good at Curling as well.
I used to agree with all three of those comedians until I had a problem with my MP3 player once and it didn't play Robin Williams voice correctly. All of a sudden his jokes aren't funny anymore. he seemed to accentuate a lot of things that made you concentrate on certain points that would lead to ironic presentations at random intervals. if you take out the fluctuation in his voice he's not funny. that ruined him for me. sort of the same way if you take iconic music out of certain movies like Guardians of the Galaxy it becomes a horrific piece of trash.
I have a hard time admitting it to myself due to all the giants of comedy over the years but Norm is my favorite. I never laugh as much with anybody else so, he must be.
I wouldn't be so quick to shit on Carlin though. Way different style wise but the dude was a prolific mofo. If you go back and listen to all his specials in the nineties and even somewhat into the 2000s when he's already in his fifites and 60's, he is masterful.
He does indeed. On the Tom Green show:"And then I go to sleep... on my pillow." So many times with him I can not explain why it is funny. It's the delivery. That's all I got.
Whether Norm is considered by his peers to be one of the best comedians of his era or not, one thing no one can deny: he's an inimitable one!! RIP Norm.
"We've decided not to have any good parts." The loose pancake in the swag bag...The joke about Chris Plummer's character going to fight the Nazi at 90 years of age "And I thought I left things till the last minute"...Man he was funny and on his game...love him.
I hope we do honor Norm. But I've been looking at the MSM here and there was nothing more than a small pathetic mention of his passing. I'm supremely disappointed. I am in Quebec, his home-fucking-province, hardly a peep about Norm. Yet America Universally honors him. Bob Saget gave I think such a beautiful insightful look into his friendship with Norm. Conan just released a bunch of hilarious insiders about Norm. Artie is in mourning and can't even talk about it yet. Anyways thanks America, atleast you have class. I mean that.
@@SxD1982 I agree, Canadian brother. I live in Rhode Island, USA. I've been mourning his passing for days and re-watching his material. Canada should be more proud of him. Either way though, bless Canada. I don't know if you realize it or not, but Americans love Canadians and we're proud of our northern sisters and brothers. ❤
Whenever I watch Norm, I always get the feeling that some don't want to laugh, but they just can't stop themselves. That's what you call a master at his craft.
Like when he was on Jon Stewarts show just after Steve Irvin was killed and Stewart is BEGGING him, "Please don't make me laugh at this" but all the while knowing that he was going to anyways
Norm gets Canadian self-deprecating humor. Anything that should be an insecurity and might hit a nerve is just eviscerated. I always thought Norm's humor worked well in the States but it works the same everywhere. Also God bless Catherine O'Hara. When Norm makes a joke not many know how to take, she takes it as a joke and shows it.
Tribute to one of the greatest comedians of our generation. In his own words, his battle with cancer was a draw. “I’m not a doctor, but I’m pretty sure that if you die, then the cancer also dies at the same time. “That to me is not a loss. That’s a draw.” RIP Norm...
This was one of the best and funniest award hostings I have ever seen, it was genius gold! Thank you Norm, you are already missed! Bon boyage... Blessings from a Colombian fan! 🇨🇴🙏🏽
Saw this before, even funnier now if bittersweet. If the Oscars were ever this good, with a host like Norm? I’d actually watch! There never will be another host or comic like Norm of course. I absolutely loved him. I hope I meet you in the next life, Macdonald. God bless you and your brilliance.
Sadly the Left politized the Oscar's to where they're unwatchable. It's always jokes about a Republican president and while fawning over a Democrat president, or predictably virtue signalling support of the liberal cause of the moment. So shallow and so predictable.
I was shocked when I heard that Norm had died. Keeping his illness a secret was pure Norm. I started thinking back on all of the laughs that he'd brought me over the years, and the one with the teacher in the audience was absolutely genius.
My goodness, Norm was brilliant! I discovered Canada’s culture in the late 70s/early 80s when I discovered Rush, then SCTV. My brother and I drove there and spent a week in Toronto, Ottawa, and a couple hours in Montreal, which I was too hungover from the night before in Ottawa to be able to deal with, so we went back to Ottawa, then Toronto. I’ve had a love and appreciation for Canada ever since. Great talent there!
So glad that there are still some clips of Norm out there, that I haven't seen yet. The really great thing is; everything he's done is infinitely rewatchable. Thank you.
Norm has a knack. A very witty and smart comic. He could tell you a joke about anything, for instance, he could go on and on about a bag full of rocks and sand and come up with something to make ya smile/laugh.
There's no comedian since who's been able to connect with an audience like him. Today's comedic actors seem so cut throat with little feeling. John Candy made me both laugh at life and also feel good about it.
@@nostalgiajunkie nope, a good suit is like a good lawyer, it covers your ass, down to your thumbs knuckle. Too tight, looks like a teenager wearing his childhood suit. Love Norm, but..
R Chase knowing norm he’s probably playing into a bit that he’s a senile old man lol but our boy here was referencing some classic norm, I don’t think anyone would say norm looks great here
I don't even watch the news {because it's nothing but crap],and I kept seeing these "A look back at Norm Macdonald",and I was thinking, why are they phrasing it like that....I had to google it.Pretty sad....I just started binge watching him this year....I could listen to him for hours, what a genius!!!
@@throughmyeyesonly It's about the coincidence between Daylight Time each year only lasting 6 months a year and his (joking) ignorance about a new gimmick people will eventually hate and get rid of in the same amount of time.
".... and a couple regional municipalities. WE are here...." I love when he does those transitions. It's like he transitions from joke-to-joke with another joke.
he does he hosts the awards shows that honor hosts of award shows who have previously hosted award shows specifically for hosts of past awards shows. kinda a big deal surprised you missed it there giovanni galvis...
I remember when this happened. The jokes are way more conventional than the typical Norm stuff. But he was great at it. His Cape Breton joke was savage.
I love when Norm can't help but laugh 7:50 love that brief moment joke - wonder if the ones he laughs at are the ones he finds most funny... I hope so. Maybe just random moments where he lets it out though
Norm was so excited he seemed to get emotional. That is something special about him. He knew he was about to kill and it showed in his eyes before he even uttered the words on the teleprompter.
