La prima Norma che ho visto su youtube anni fa. Mi aveva colpito per la scenografia allestita al Teatro greco di Taormina: finalmente una versione che soddisfa anche l'occhio e non il solito obbrobrio cui siamo ahimé sottoposti! Mi è piaciuto Kunde, un Pollione moderno, ed anche gli altri interpreti. Grazie RU-vid! 👍🌹👏👏👏
These days there are too many unwatchable (disgustingly staged) operas. I am glad that there are still some operas enjoyable - like this Norma, for example.

Отличная постановка!!. Скиллачи просто молодец!. Первый раз слышу певицу. Не популяризирует ее совсем .Адальжиза великолепна. !! И чего комментаторы "носом водят"? Послушайте стареющую Груберову - вот где надо критиковать.
Scenery is pretty good ( also considering the marvellous Sicily location...), Kunde is superb. Acting out by all othet singers/actors is very filmic, especially Oroveso....at least all parts move in realistic mises and make comprehensible the dramatic plot of the story...We were used to assist to quite static, lazy and immobile scenic versions and interpretations in past, specially considering the female compart, whilst they act in credible ways. But certainly the pureness, velvet and vocal loudness of Madame Adelaide Negri's voice (I personally saw and heard in 1980) was something of a different kind...., even so this "lighter version" meets many valuable and points of interest that can be appreciated... Also orchestra is neatly conducted.

Why do so many Norma productions have sets consisting of stone structures like Stonehenge? That culture was over a thousand years before the Druids and Romans. The Druids were forest dwellers. I think the Paris production for Callas got it right. The singing here is variable - I jumped when the Norma started 'Ah Bello a me' early and had to stop and start again! The Adalgisa is excellent. But I'm spoiled - was at Sutherland and Horne's very first performance in 1963!
The Norma and Adalgisa are new to me.. Both delivered, though I find the Adalgisa to have a surer technique than the Norma, who has moments of uneven tone production every now and then. Audio gone awry at 1:20:49 with the gong and cymbals completely blotting everything.
This opera is difficult, as with all of them ... but Man ! give the opera a chance. The _Norma_ doesn't have the dramatic vocal-power ; she seems stuck in high, steely, metallic sounds ; a voice that is very immature. there's absolutely no chest voice to her singing ... when ?! when will they find a _Norma_ who doesn't _point_ all over the stage ?!
L'ouverture, spazia su affannosi e affanati respiri Donizettiani e Rossiniani, ma non è riuscita a prendere la strada della poesia immensa e indiscutibile del deliziosissimo Vincenzo!!! Il Maestro non è molto convinto! E mi fermo qui, anche nell'ascolto: quando non si azzecca una ouverture, tutta l'opera è perduta irrimediabilmente! Distinti saluti.

Per chi ne sa di opera riesce a capire che l'interpretazione non è il massimo; poi se questo è dovuto a problemi di budget è altro conto, ma ciò non esula da eventuali commenti, anche se a mio parere se vi è poco budget è meglio aspettare o non metterla in scena piuttosto che metterne su una non all'altezza

Oggi si mette in scena Norma, come altri titoli tipo La Traviata, senza tener conto di cosa si sta facendo, con artisti, si fa per dire, senza requisiti necessari alla bisogna. Ma oggi e' tutto così, l'arte lirica come Master Chef...che pure e' un programma terrificante e che andrebbe cancellato dai palinsesti.
