Thank you so much for your guide and analysis. The analysis was key in helping my guild get this boss down and after spending much to long progressing on him, we have a mighty fun time taking him down now. The most important parts for us were making sure to actively kill the ghosts, and letting the fight fall back into P1 after the 2nd dominator.
Hello, thanks for posting another very useful guide. I am currently trying to kill that boss on heroic mode, but we do have some problems with it, namely we cant afford to extend construct's live past 3rd or 4th dominator, what causes us to hit th enrage timer on Second construct phase, with boss having as much as 20-ish % HP. Is it really possible to end the encounter within only one construct phase? I am talking specifically about heroic mode where Soul of Socrethar's casts take away 10% of construct's HP. Thanks in advance for responding! Hope You will keep on making those magnificent videos!
Illidahn Hi Illidahn (great name btw)! Yes, it's quite possible to do the entire thing in one Socrethar Phase on Heroic; in fact that's precisely what you're viewing in this video footage. That was our first kill for Heroic in this footage and shows us (barely) managing to do it in a single Socrethar phase. As mentioned in the video, the key is obviously strong DPS overall, but also most importantly ensuring not a single Exert Dominance gets through (fails to be interrupted) when Socrethar is not protected by the Barrier. If your interrupts are perfect and you're still not able to get past the 3rd or 4th Dominator spawn, there can only be a few possible causes: 1. The Dominators are simply living too long, in which case this will allow the boss to get an extra Exert Dominance off in one or more "rounds." 2. The Construct is taking damage from other sources, namely due to getting into melee range of the Souls and causing them to explode. For reference, here is the log link from our first Heroic kill (and the one seed in this guide) to give you an idea of the total number of successful Exert Dominance casts we allowed: www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/Z4MRYVH93vJ1Xzfg#fight=7&type=damage-taken&hostility=&source=84&view=events&ability=183331 If you note the timestamps you can group them together and determine which particular "Dominator spawn" was active, how long it took is to kill that Dominator, and thus how many casts of Exert Dominance we let through. In our case, for Dominator #1 we allowed (2) casts, Dominator #2 was the longest by far with (4) casts allowed, Dominator #3 was the fewest due to (as mentioned in the guide) the boss always channeling Apocalypse during this period), and then Dominator #4 was another (2) casts. 9 total casts allowed, but all of them during the time when the boss was Barrier'd so it was extremely close, but possible. Hope that helps and provides a few tips to focus on next time!
