Mosaert is Stromae’s own brand (it’s an anagram of his name) that he and his wife created together I believe!! I read in another comment somewhere that she was the one who came up with this look for him (no source though). Love love love him, not many people got to see his look, so I’m really glad you touched on it in your video here!!

I wouldn’t be surprised if she did!! He almost always credits her as being the true designer of the brand. I adore the brand almost as much as I do him, so I was SO glad to see he was attending the Met IN Mosaert! I also love that it too ties in to his performance costumes/outfits for this era as far as the general silhouette, frills, and details.

Its so crazy to me how almost everyone (Ms. Anna Wintour included) just completely ignores the theme. Especially in 2022, when we have so many historical reference right at at our fingertips, litterally. No excuse!! Next year they should just forego the theme all together and emphasize that the met is a costume party... so wear a costume, make it high fashion, avant guarde. Theme is... Anything Goes!

I’m so glad you’re talking about Ms. Chasinghorse!!! I love her message and style, and I want her and her message to get more attention - she’s lovely and so poised for her young age, and I feel like she didn’t get the attention she deserved last year. Thank you for talking about her and giving the background of her look the time it warrants. Her dress is also from a sustainable brand and she sourced the eagle feathers from several Native American folks, along with the meaning you mentioned with the necklace

@@kirstenmcculloch3008 you could look up video essays or theses on the discourse of drag/queer language and race. Black queer men and trans women “created” the culture you see on rupaul’s or at pride festivals, but they got it from black women. But the winners-which would be the white patriarchy then further the general patriarchy to include black men(misogynoir)-get to tell history, so most ignore the contribution of black women. If you don’t believe the discourse on it, go on black twitter for a day and see how long it takes for some new idiom created by a black woman to become mainstream.

For Sophie Turner, I feel like there was a missed opportunity to turn the baby bump into a bustle on the front of the dress instead of the back! It could have been so cool! I hate that designers seem to think because a woman is pregnant that her dress needs to be super boring instead of seeing it as an opportunity to do something creative.

The wire closures on a corset is called a busk! Stiff metal bars are sewn between the fabric and lining, one side has “ nobs” the other has flat metal loops which lock over the nobs. There is probably grommeted lacing in the back to be cinched in forming a fitted waist. Love all the “ burlesque” references stretching to make some of the outfits “ sort of on theme!”😂

According to an art documentary, Madame X DID have one of her chain straps falling down over her shoulder, but only one, and Sargent was soon compelled to repaint the strap. Too bad this dress didn't have the detail of one strap up; it might have been more convincing as being inspired by the painting.

Disappointed that no one went for steampunk aesthetic - deeply anchored in late 19th century and early 20th fashion. Elements of industrial development of the time would have blended seamlessly, and the theme calls for metallic motifs with incredible craft and detail… It was an opportunity to bring fantasy to life (and I learned from this series that costume parties were a thing) and I would have just loved to see it!
