There are SMALL handguns, and then there are REALLY small handguns, almost too small to shoot! Again, since I am getting weary of this hot weather, John and I decided to use our "weather control" magic again.

I worked at N.A.A. in 1978, before the 22 mag, the quality control was 2nd to none. We manufactured thousands of 22 long and 22 short in the time of my employ. We also had a short production run of the 454 Cassul (what a monster). Strict attention to quality and detail was always a huge concern. Thanks for the video hickok45.

My wife is a nighttime delivery driver. She wanted/needed to carry a gun. After shooting my glock 19 9mm she wanted something smaller so i got her a SCCY 9mm; she didnt like it, so i got her a Walther p22. She liked it but was scared to carry it because of size ( someone seeing it on her ) I bought her this 22 magnum and she absolutely loves it! And if shes not gonna carry it on her theres a large amount of time when shes out of her car it wont do her any good, but she carries this gun and loves it, and can hit with it, 5-10 yards also. Im happy she is happy

@clifford...rule #1, have a gun...sure, there are more capable firearms...but the .25 in my pocket beats the .45 in my safe, everyday...if the lady WILL carry a .22 and nothing else, good on her...every gun is a compromise, and there are Zero gaurentees no matter what anyone is carrying (yup, that includes me and you)...

@@JohnPublic-dk7zd I would normally agree if we were talking about a gun that at least met some aspects of practical operability. Like a Ruger lcr22 for instance. @@cliffordrandell735 the lcr is a decent option, I note the OP says his missus concerned with size of weapon (the Walther p22)...the prime selling point of the NAA is it's utter concealability, over any questions of viability...these guns fail miserably at gunfighting, but at snot or earwax on the muzzle ranges they can work...i've always thought NAA might engineer the gun to carry less ammo in exchange for a smidgen of extra feature, perhaps double action (we rarely carry ours, always hammer down on empty chamber, we don't expect to get more than a couple shots off under duress), while maintaining the same size...we currently carrying a Jetfire, as seniors small, lightweight, low recoil are attractive features...a Baby Browning might be the ticket for her...

It’s not for fast reloading or for supreme accuracy : It’s for having that tiny bit of an edge over an attacker ; and increasing your chance of survival either slightly or dramatically, depending upon the shooters’ skill , respect for the weapon , and the urgency of the situation .

I have carried my NAA .22 Magnum almost everyday of my life since I purchased it at a sporting goods store in 1992. Yes every day of my life! It has saved my life for sure. On one situation I was totally caught by surprise and I am positive I would not be typing this post if it was not for my NAA .22 Magnum. It was in the days right after Hurricane Katrina destroyed New Orleans. Use a small boot holster inside your waste band for slacks, and use the same boot holster inside the small otherwise useless pocket on your jeans. That small pocket on your jeans is absolutely perfect for holding your NAA .22 Magnum. Your untucked shirt will cover it almost all the time. Slipping your hand in your bigger lower pocket totally conceals the grip if your in "that kind of situation". Get that boot holster with the black metal clip made by Aker, and the oversized wooden or rubber grip. Your set. It will save your life and it is no more obtrusive or apparent as a belt clipped mobile phone. No one will see it unless they are really sizing you up and down. I have my CP. However, I have been told using the jean pocket qualifies as an open carry position. I won't go anywhere without my NAA .22 Magnum I will probably be buried with it. It is the best $145.00 I ever spent in my life.

This was made to be the secret back up gun, in case you had been disarmed from duty and back up guns. It should be carried as a 3rd gun or at least as 2nd gun. Not the only gun, unless you got no option. Early NAA ads showed this gun as a way to get out of a hostage like situation. You can also carry it ready in hand or jacket pocket, when in suspicious areas.

I have one an have carried it for years. The first one I had was the short barreled 22lr. It was so small it was to easy to get my finger in front of the barrel. I let my brother have it an he carried it for years in a belt buckle holster. I replaced it with the longer barrel 22lr an got the older version of the folding grip. The older grip is better but it only fit the 22lr. It was changed to fit the 22 mag also. This is my carry everywhere gun. It is clipped in my back pocket. If I need to go somewhere with a "no guns" sign I can leave my OC gun in the truck an I still have this. Its also an extra reliable 5 shots for me. An in the event I need to hand someone a gun, I know I can hand it to almost anyone an they will be able to reliably get 5 shots out of it without having to stop an read a manual. Its not a gun I want to ever get in a gun fight but the best gun is the one you have. This gun I can even carry wearing nothing but swim trunks an no one knows its a gun if they even see it.

Great video as always! I have the .22LR version of this pistol and I had the exact same problem. I finally got the folding grips and it was a game-changer. SO much easier to shoot, and when carrying in a pocket it looks pretty much like a folding knife. I only wish it was the .22 magnum but loaded with CCI Stingers it's definitely nothing I'd want to be shot with. When fishing etc. I sometimes carry it with the first two chambers loaded with shot loads in case of aggressive snakes. And you're right- they are built like Swiss watches. Ultra-high quality.

I have owned several of these North American Arms 22 revolver. I have one currently which is called the North American Arms wasp. I have an oversized rubber grip on it. It is chambered for 22 magnum. I set mine back and I also had two chambered and timed for 22 long rifle. Meaning just like Heritage arms I have two different cylinders. I have carried a 22 magnum North American Arms revolver for at least 23 years. As a retired law enforcement officer I can say that I carry this gun every day everywhere that I can legally carry a firearm. It is reliable it is built like a Rolex watch or a Swiss timepiece it performs every time that you use it I have never had one fail me. I do agree you need an oversized grip if your hands are of any size of the small. The grip that you have on yours that folds up into the gun I do not own. But I do have an oversized rubber grip similar to that with on the North American Arms Black Widow. They're available from North American Arms for $25 roughly plus shipping and well worth the investment. The Notches between the cylinders are an added safety device. If you would ever buy one of these guns used that is an older model that does not have those notches cut between the cylinders. North American Arms will replace it for free. All you have to do is ship the gun unloaded through your FFL to North American Arms in Provo Utah they will replace and time the weapon with a new cylinder and send it back to you. They're well worth the investment and I do not consider myself almost armed with one I have confidence in the weapon. North American Arms used to have a ad in the mid-90s that said a single shot from a 22 caliber firearm may not be a One-Stop shot but it would definitely change the attackers attitude. And I believe that

Carried this small gun for forty years, no problem shooting, every! Big hands, no problem. Never let it rest between rounds in the cut out as the cylinder can easily turn on you and rest on a live round again. Always carry with four rounds only, allow the hammer to rest on a empty chamber. It locks well and dropping it, won’t fire! Yes I know, you only got four rounds, but safety is a must! This is a magnum load, very powerful.

My conceal gun is a Glock 27 which as you say is definitely a bulldog, but it is problematical to carry. M other guns really are not any better for carry like my Smith 686 357, Browning Hi-Power 9mm, etc. Then there is my little NAA magnum 1 1/8 inch barrel revolver (which I love by the way). I decided that there had to be a way for that little gun to be effective as a self-defense weapon. What I did was a whole lot of practice at hitting a target at 25 yards...yes, I know that I would never willingly get into a gunfight from that distance with a bad guy. However, hitting the target about 2/3 of the time was a success for me. So last week and then again today, I started shooting at a target only 10 feet away. About 90% of the time, I hit in about a 12 inch radius BUT I don't "aim" per say. That is, I have gotten good enough that I can empty the 5 cartridge cylinder in under 3 seconds and still hit in a 12 inch circle just about all the time without using the "sights" which are pretty primitive anyhow. I was shooting so fast that the range officer gave me a warning to only shoot 1 per second. My point is that IF you are very accurate close in, and can shoot single action quickly, then the small NAA becomes deadly. With 5 shots all in the torso, the probability is quite high that vital organs will be hit.

I've carried one (or two) of these for several years. Mostly when I can't carry bigger. For what they are designed for, they are great. I had a guy jerk my car door open a few months ago and tell me I was in his car. I had seen him looking at me funny, so the mini was already in my hand. At about bad breath range, I doubt I would have missed. As soon as he saw it pointed at his face, he said "Oh, wrong car" and took off running. BTW, I did not have my full sized gun available at the time.

well don't know about less damage. there are many .22mag rounds on the market like Hornady Critical 45gr FTX that are made for little pocket save your life pistols. That have vary similar ballistics as .380apc .The last thing you want is to be put in a situation with an armed attacker and the only way to get out alive is to shoot your firearm. but you also want to be sure that the attacker is not going to jump up and harm you. SO yea small hole lots of damage is what you want and knowing the difference in shooting and not shooting to ensure you safety!!!!!!! nice job Bill Strack....

I have one. I put oversized rubber grips on it and made a leather pocket holster for it. These grips are almost as big as what you have, but less bulky. With the pocket holster, there is very little printing. I call it “ the gun I carry when I shouldn’t be carrying a gun”. Something is always better than nothing at all. I wouldn't want to have to trust it at a greater range than that though. And the bigger grip is a MUST! Just can't hold onto it with the original. It really is a "get off me" gun. Old video but fun to watch. I saw the NAA revolvers many years ago but had no interest in them. Recently, my interest has grown due to the many videos featuring the NAA mini revolver. I went to my local gun shop and held a few of them but was not happy with the way that they felt in my hand. That all changed when I held the Holster Grip version. I got one in .22 LR and the short 1.1" barrel. This gun melts in your pocket and you forget that you have it on you. A fun little revolver and it is accurate up to about 15 yards for me, with the Holster Grip.

I have the NAA revolver with the 1-5/8" barrel. My grips are made from molded PVC pipe with a built in pocket clip that makes it perfect for carrying in your front pocket, boot or waist. The PVC grips are similar to what Hickok has on his and extends the grip to where you can actually shoot and hit with it after a little bit of practice. I can shoot it very accurately up to 20' to 25'. For the times I can't carry anything larger, you can bet this little jewel is in my pocket or waist band. I run a couple of boxes of Hornady critical defense 45 grain bullets through it with zero problems and other cheaper practice rounds through it with no problems either. While I agree with Hickok that this is far from the perfect carry weapon, it's better than the gun you left at home because it's too big. After shooting this thing a lot and seeing what it can do, I know I would not want to be in front of it.

I have carried one for about two decades. I truly love it. I carry the first two rounds as rat shot which is fatal to a squirrel at 8 feet. The pattern expands roughly one inch for every foot out of the barrel, so that 8 feet you have covered someone’s face, including their eyes. This is VERY distracting to the recipient. I usually carry it as my rattlesnake gun because, well used, it is also fatal to rattlesnakes at about 5-6 feet.

I love the .22 lr mini NAA Revolver, priced right and exceptionally well made, just hate paying a high price for .22 magnum ammo. I suppose the combo gun kit with two cylinders .22 lr and .22 magnum really is best. I can shoot a NAA Recolver quite well, even with the tiny wood grips. A freind told he walked through the airport security checkpoint years ago, and got on the plane with his belt buckle mounted NAA mini Revolver, he was not caught. I've owned the .22 mag NAA for over 20 years as well. I put the rubber grips that slip over the wooden grips on mine-just a little bit larger, but much easier to shoot. I also ground down the front sight so it shoots to point of aim. I've never had to use it thank God, but when a larger handgun is not possible, it's comforting to have the little revolver.

I had a NAA Mini 22LR (non magnum) for about 8-years. Mechanically it's about the same as the magnum; it has the safety notch as well. I must have carried it hundreds of times. One day it slipped out of my IWB holster while I was sitting on a chair at home and it fell onto the floor. Nobody was around to see and it didn't discharge, but when I picked it up I noticed that the hammer was now resting on a live round. I removed the cartridges, put the hammer in a safety notch, and dropped it a few more times. I found that depending on how it impacts the ground, the hammer can jump back a bit and allow the cylinder to rotate underneath it. I imagine if you had a two-impact-drop, the first impact could move a live round under the hammer and the second impact could cause an accidental discharge. Of course the recommendation is probably to avoid dropping the gun altogether, but I didn't feel safe carrying it after that. They're cool little guns but I think I'll just admire them instead of carry them.

As a farm kid, I shot my share of 22 short, .22 LR, and .22 WMR at all sorts of God’s four legged creations. However, most of those creatures shot were with various rifles and not handguns. In a rifle, the .22 mag is very much more potent and deadly than a .22 LR. I once dispatched a fairly large feral dog with one chest shot at 50 yards with a Ruger 77/22 WMR. Now we all know that out of a short barreled handgun the difference between the mag and long rifle is less pronounced. One of the main reasons I would champion the magnum over the LR is because misfires are far less common on magnums than a LR. I am looking at getting this exact version of the NAA and it will be loaded with the heaviest .22 mag bullet weight I can find. Yes, there is a significant difference in penetration between 40 gr bullets and 30 gr bullets. Federal used to make a 50 gr .22 mag and I think some makers even offer heavier loads.
