We've heard your requests for more Kermie Cam's, and we've listened. Here's one Kermie Cam we think you'll really enjoy. The North American P-51D model Mustang. Part 1 has you doing a pre-flight tour with Kermit while he checks out the plane. Part 2 you'll go in the cockpit and get a first hand glimpse of what it is like to sit at the controls and prepare to fly. In part 3 you'll take off and fly... and there's a couple of surprises along the way. Hope you enjoy.

Thanks for a good show. I learned a lot. I have never flown. My father flew in WW2 over Belgium in a P-47 Thunderbolt. He wouldn't talk much about his service, so I never knew anything about his experiences flying a war machine and all that is involved; so much to remember. Wow! I am so very proud of my Dad; his name and title are: 2 Lt. Jack M. Collins 510th Fighter Squadron Thank you for this video

I really admire how you handled the gear situation. Recalling after the war I'd be out at Paine Field north of Seattle in the Everett area and would hear and see those P-51 Mustangs flying overhead. I do wish I could have convinced by dad to buy one those and we did talk about it. At the time I was about 8 and dad with Boeing running the gear line at the old plant 1 next to the Duwamish River in Seattle. We loved our planes but this one tops them all for the shear beauty and that Packard Merlin sound is beyond description. Excellent production here.

Just a suggestion here regarding the landing gear light. Unscrew the lens caps of both the Intransit light and the down and locked green lens cap and swap the bulbs since they are usually always identical. Since you know the intransit light works it should illuminate when switched over giving you the assurance that the gear is in fact down and locked. I also keep a couple new bulbs in the cockpit in a small pouch to have handy when these bulbs burn out.
@ParkerUAS
@ParkerUAS 6 лет назад
A wonderful suggestion that in the moment is forgotten by many a pilot. My personal one is in Piper aircraft, ensure Nav lights are off since if Nav is on it dims instrument lights to the point they look off in sunlight.
@jahatton
@jahatton 5 лет назад
Good idea but you don't want to tinker removing bulbs when your flying. Looking for an accident waiting to happen like Flight 401 crashed in the everglades due to fretting over an indicator light. :-( Check all the lights in the 100 hr inspection.

I flew a Piper Arrow that had a perennial gear light problem. I remember the first time it happened and I responded similarly even though it was not tailwheel. Had it in different shops numerous times. Never did figure it out. Always the right main. As soon as the weight of the plane compressed the strut after touching down, 3 greens. Like I said, never did figure it out. But I must have made hundreds of landings in that aircraft over a couple years time, and the gear never once failed. The IO360 fuel injection problems were another matter...lol
