This is leg 1 of a North Atlantic Ferry flight from EDDB (Schonefeld, outside Berlin) to EGPC Wick, Scotland. Be sure to check out the other legs...especially the Greenland landing!
Premier 1 Driver I don't think you have ever made a bad one from the start and I have been enjoying them. I think I was one of the first subs.I have a good eye for talent.lol
Just started following your channel and to find that you visited my home town is a bonus - Wick from the air is much different than the view from the ground.
Great video! I flew a Lear 55 from MAD-EGPC-BIRK-CYYR-KBGR-KTEB in May 2015. It was nice watching your video and being able to look around a little bit. The ceiling was low and it was rainy when we were there. The Scottish countryside sure is beautiful!
Unbelievable how far out your forward camera was able to pick out the Wick runway. Beautiful flight, great content. Loved the "let's fake it" comments. LOL Thanks for sharing.
Great video sir. I'm a VFR helicopter guy for now so I'm always stuck down in the weather, it's nice to get some high quality videos of what it's like to fly above it. I really enjoy your editing and multiple views as well.
Sorry about the late comments but just recently started watching. You guys had a lot on your plates that day but both of you were showing constant professionalism.
Awesome video, you've got a new sub. I did my PPL in Inverness and my solo cross-country route was up to Kirkwall through Wick in a Piper Tomahawk. I parked in exactly the same place as you too!
Second time I watch these vids, always pretty cool for a pilot to fly in jeans and shirt, no uniform, no ennoying pax... I would have enjoy if I had the qualifications, but my experience is no more than Cessna 172 or Robin DR 400. Thx for sharing.
This is great I have to limit myself to two trips if I didn't all of a sudden ts 5 am and I have to get up a 6. Flying inside the EU has to be I feebly easy compared with all the customs hassles moving from country to country. I've flown into Mexico a few times and deal with customs on both sides. Thanks for putting your videos on RU-vid I love this
Enjoyed this one. UK Flight Information Services outside CAS came across as suitably confusing! (Basic, Traffic, De-confliction and Procedural). Thank you for sharing.
Well, I do a lot of VOR DME approaches manually in Northern Europe. They are the easy onces ! :p NDB on the other hand, in bad weather and gusty wind, hard work ! :p GJ
Hey Greg, good to see ya again man, Greg years and years ago I use to be a private dee jay, I was never on the radio but had a pretty lucrative business going on that earned me a lot of sideline money I remember sometimes when I would be tearing down my equipment somebody would always volunteer to help although I was grateful for the help it had to denied for several reason I didn't trust any body to handle my equipment and I didn't want to leave anything behind, the same with you but on a much larger and completely more dangerous than mine, but do you feel at ease that when you are preparing the jet for take off that people riding along just reaches up and starts turning knobs and flipping switches I just don't trust anybody to do my job for me, I've said enough so I'll sit in the back since the right seat has been taken, hope this will be a smooth and happy flight...
Flying in that must be a dream. Flying with another fat guy in a Cessna 150 was sheer terror and fascination at the same time. First flight was pretty intense. If it wasn't for my fear of heights it would've been amazing!
On this flight they must have eagle eyes to see 10 mile without using helpers glasses but its nice to be informed of the traffic!! Really nice trip, but I bet they see the tail and that does match when a differ number is giveout!!
Great Flight to Indy Loved the Telluride I have a friend in Gladewater Tex that used to fly his Mooney there I heard you cross over radio conversation at Wiley Post Oklahoma City, ever land here??? Carl Big fan of yours
Yes. I've landed at wiley post before. I have a video of landing at OKC in my Where planes go to die video. I don't have a WIley Post landing on video.
Hey great video Greg! I’m a recent subscriber and I’ve been going back trying to catch up. Thanks for the great content and you have re inspired me to finish my PPL and move up from there. Quick question (s). Was this after you got 390GM? If so, what would be the reason for you flying this A1 over? Just curious. Thanks!
If you had watched the premier one story video, you would know why the co pilot is not into arc. It is because the co pilot is his friend and just comes along. Plus, he can fly the aircraft alone. He doesn't have to have a co pilot in that kind of plane.
Love your videos. A few questions if I may. I noticed in one of your videos you grabbed an ankle for a little gravity assist over the center console. I'm 6'3" and now wonder if I might end up cleaning a few switches off that panel with a size 12... Besides what appears to be excellent performance, the Premier also has the yokes sprouting from the dash (like) rather than on pedestals protruding from the floor (don't like). I also picked up your opinion of the G3000 being a better choice than the Pro Line 21. No doubt I have a long way to go in my research but am curious as to your opinion on the Premier and other aircraft. Was the Premier a first choice or a deal that couldn't be passed up. But for a better deal or a few extra sheckles might you be flying under a different monicker?
Craneman I am 6'3" and you just have to be careful not to drag your foot across the center console when getting in. I love the Premier. Its limitations are range and payload, so you need to get into the AFM and make sure it will do what you want it to do. In the plus column, it has a huge cabin (for a light jet), big plane avionics, speed and efficiency. If money were no object and I wanted single pilot capability, I'd buy a Phenom 300.
drklain Hi Dave- Thanks for the comment. I didn't load the database in the plane so I am not sure what happened. The iPad though is a stand alone system but yes, it is surprising that the approach wasn't in there. I still don't understand why.
Premier 1 Driver Might be worth dropping Jeppesen a note (I assume it's the Jepp worldwide database). It could be something they've dropped but odd given that Wick is used for a number of translants...
We had the approach to the other runway, just not the one we had to fly. Of course we had it on the iPad so we were't without it. We just didn't have it in the database. We had to do it old school!
Ha! That's funny. I just watch a vid by Guido Warneke flying a Mooney Ovation. He went to the same airport and parked in the same spot. He just posted it today and I just watched this vid for the first time today. :) Small world.
+flieger365 I always use the checklist...always. You can see it in some of my other videos. It doesn't always make it through the editing process as usually running the checklist is done at a pretty boring time and thus doesn't make the video.
Hey guys, very good video, Im sure it has to be a good machine to fly! as I picked up from the audio you 2 guys are from north america, I have no Idea about your procedures there but they shouldn't be different, I want to say that I do not see good crew coordination between you two, I normally do take off/departure briefing and set up before start up the engines, never while taxing, that doesn't look like a good briefing at all. All the rest looks really fine! good job!
+Juan Da Costa HI Juan- we aren't really acting as a crew. More a single pilot flying with somebody helping on the radios. Check out this video for more info....and understand this video is highly edited. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-YT8EBMouA44.html
As you probably can tell, there are no winshield wipers on the plane. But, the windows are coated with a Rain x type solution that does a good enough job to allow you to see....for the most part. :-)
I was wondering have you made a caribbean trip yet and where would you fly to and make a video of trip? I wish i could get a LearJet pilot license i already have over 500 hundred hours on FSX and 30 hours on actual prop plane time..
I'm probably wrong. I was trying to fill in the description off of memory. Yep, I just looked. You are right. I am changing this. 53K views and you are first to notice!
Dear Sir, that was a typo, clearly. I found it out only because I wanted the route to fly in the simulator :). Great Vidos. Thank you. Fly professionally? Happy landings.
How is that iWatch? Been so close to buying one but I can't decide if it's "aviation" purposes are enough to make the purchase. I collect watches, and usually always have one on, so having an iWatch would be a completely different feel as well.
***** The watch is ok. I wouldn't call it breakthrough technology but I have found it useful. It can display local time and UTC (at the same time) which is nice.
Premier 1 Driver Also, do you know where this plane ended up? It says it's registered in Bettendorf, IA... I live in Des Moines; about 3 hours from there!

Man this guy is sure busy. Is this the same guy who did that Eagle to Denver solo to pick up a son? How many hours does he chalk up in a typical 365 day year? And oh, by the way I work near Mr. Lears flight testing facility north of Reno NV USA.
This one I was ferrying over for a new owner in the states so no. All the other videos of N390GM are in my plane. You can check out my full bio on my Dallas to Montrose video about 23:30 in.

Aw shucks, at 8:52 that musta' been Maj. 'King' Kong (nee Slim Pickens) on his way to bomb the Rooskis... gettin' channeled there with... 'It's all gud'...
This is an old one, just now seeing it! What does rain do to the performance of the engine? Probably could have asked one of the engineers at work (Eaton aerospace), but I think a pilot would have a different understanding of it.
That "chick" has been in ATC for years! I happen to know her a long time, flying out & into Berlin EDDB ... and, since she was born & raised in the former GDR she speaks a good & understandable English...
Hey Driver! As an American (born in Illinois), I spent (never-the-less) 17-years of my adult life living in Europe. I see (and hear) that my German cousins took good care of you during your "trans-Atlantic" departure... DNA says that I am about half German-Bavaian & German-Saxon. :) One of my KUHMANN cousins (Berlin) is a retired German Air Force fighter pilot (an "Oberstleutnant" = a German Air Force rank equal to Lieutenant Colonel, above Major, and below Oberst). He watched your YOU TUBE "ferry" videos too, and agrees that the "faking" was very well done ... lol Fabulous scenery! Thank you for sharing an experience of a life-time!
Maybe I spoke too soon or am I out of line when I wrote that message to you before I saw the manuscript at the bottom of the screen your friend is certified on several Lear jets but not a Premier 1, I apologies for speaking too soon, I still wouldn't trust anyone with my life, sorry...now let's go flying...
I cannot understand some controllers and I am from France.....so I have an accent but hey !!!!! most of these really chew up words. Repeat is there for a good reason.
Taxpayer's money grave and laughing stock for the whole country. The southern runway just in use because the other one's being refurbished :) I would have loved to see you there, I'm there for "recreational spotting" combined with bicycle training quite often...
Phil Jehmineh I assume you are speaking of Schoenefeld? The taxi driver said something about it but I didn't understand. He also commented on what a shame it was that Tempelhof was closed and that was a big political mess.
Premier 1 Driver Yes SXF. The new airport buildings are just there for nothing now, since they could not open the airport because of (what officially was told) issues with the smoke ventilation system. Under the line it's all about corruption, mismanagement and political fails. It's a total disaster and costs taxpayer's money every day while they postpone the opening date all the time or even don't know if it will ever be opened. As well as the dimension is too small for the target amount of flights/passengers so they would need another runway and then of course there's a lot of resistance in the villages around it because of noise and all.... I think you had to do the slight left turn directly after takeoff as well, didn't you?
Phil Jehmineh I saw the new terminal and it looked complete. I was wondering why it wasn't in use. Yes, a left turn immediately after takeoff from runway 25L.
