Absolutely love Sunset Beach. Spent all my summers here as a kid and now have the pleasure of living around all 3 (Holden, Ocean Isle and Sunset Beaches)

Cape Lookout is divine! The entire Southern Outer Banks is the most precious in my opinion. Those beaches run N, NE - to S, SW. The gulf stream has no choice but to push warm waters on them.

Topsail is excellent yet not mentioned.. No major rivers empty into ocean anywhere near it. Very clean water.

Wrightsvill has really blue and clear water if you go past we're the waves break you can see 40 Ft in front of you. Go there located at Wilmington and see that blue water

A revitalized Carolina beach should do better. 2015 marked a new era. New boardwalk and arcade area. Cleaner beaches and residents who care make this a new hot spot for vacationers with partying in mind. The carnival still brings in the children so families are still gonna go regardless of the beaches condition. The hotels have maintained a lower than average fee and the restaurants have improved greatly. I'd move CB to #15 at least. The other one I know well is Wrightsville. Very underrated according to this list. If boating is your thing then Wrightsville is your special place. Oak Island is supreme for privacy and romance. The best Surfing on the coast! Beats Myrtle by a little.

Madison Valley More remote, further away from the stores and partying. Great for couples but families love it as well!

Wrightsville was always my favorite. I moved away from the area in 2010, but I’m really glad to hear they’ve revitalized Carolina Beach.
