Thank you - I am doing the NC500 (ironically leaving 16 May also). I am travelling solo with my dog and these tips are so useful. I also have your book
Thanks Robbie for an excellent video. I've purchased your book this afternoon so hopefully it will arrive in the next week as we off on the NC500 in September! Kind regards Sidestickflyer
Great stuff. Useful tips and fantastic informative videos. Have used your nc500 videos and itinerary to plan my trip coming up in 2 weeks. Looking forward to it. 😎 thanks Robbie.
Excellent list. Could apply to any road trip. I book accommodation and travel 11 months ahead (most don't allow you to before that). This way I always get the best locations. Just check that they have free cancellations. Am looking forward to doing this trip next year when international travel is back to almost normal, I hope. Yes, your spreadsheet is already helping plan my itinerary. Thanks.
Yes some useful information there Grant, thanks for watching & thanks for your comment. I'm sure international travel will be back where it should be by mid 2022 :)
Honestly some of the best videos on the NC500, and the Google sheet is amazing too, thank you so much for taking the time for making that and these videos! Super helpful Also love that this video isn’t those typical tips videos, which is the super obvious stuff, elaborated in 10 different ways. I’m an over planner and this is one of the few videos out there there remind you of those little things you forget! Thank you :)
Cracking video,, really full of great hints and tips, ( I didn't know you could download Google maps 👍) I plan on doing the Northumberland 250 end of April as a taster for the NC500 at the start of September. Thanks again,,,,,,,,
@@bigbangr1jason Open the Google maps app, search for a location for example ‘Scotland’ > on the tab where it says ‘Directions’ scroll to the right and you’ll see ‘Download’
We really enjoyed your videos have found them very useful for our NC500 trip in August, have you any idea when your road map will be going on sale , I think you said to keep a check on Amazon 🏴
Although you would think this is common sense, these were Great tips so thanks. One question I have is when did you go and what are the busiest and least busiest times of year to visit? We are retired so can basically go anytime.
We went in May and also in November. May was starting to get busier although very manageable in terms of traffic and such. You will need to book campsites beforehand in most cases to be on the safe side. November was very very quiet! Most campsites are closed so we did the B and B / hotel routes 👍
Thanks, we will be driving and doing B&B but also in an EV so will need to plan accommodation that allows charging which I hear is reasonably common now. Cheers
It’s a very tricky subject that doesn’t go down to well with the locals. If you’re out of sight of homes and off the main road leaving no trace behind you then there shouldn’t be an issue.
Ever since the "NC500" started, I've seen dumped and burnt out cars, graffiti, litter dumping, chemical toilet dumping, high speed sports cars and bikes racing on single track roads.
We’re here doing it again right now (November) and it’s been a lot quieter on the roads and stop offs, there aren’t as many cafes, restaurants and pubs etc open so as long as you plan ahead you will be fine!
@@kmtb2011 the weather has been changing every 30 minutes, we’ve had some rough wind and rain. Unless you have a proper diesel heater in your car I’m not sure it would be the warmest or most comfortable solution but I’m sure you may prove me wrong 😂
There are a lot of them along the way, it’s just always best to make sure once you get below a certain level of fuel that you top up again (just so you don’t get in a tricky situation and start worrying).
